I suspect that Fantasma Games may have had the same idea, considering the look and feel of the characters and background presented here in the Animal Carnival online slot. Animal Carnival Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Let’s talk about the theme again for a moment – I suspect that most of you will be able to picture something close to the look of Animal Carnival without further prompting, but I will tell you a little more anyway. The animals are presented in a cartoonish fashion, pulling funny faces and the like, whilst tents and cannons complete the circus theme and give the game a fun and interesting look. I’m sure many other online slots feature funny looking animals. Still, the most obvious comparison is likely to be made with Animal Crossing and its sequels – if those games are your bag, you are almost certain to enjoy how this game looks.
With just ten paylines, I expected the paytable’s numbers to be reasonably large. This time around, however, that is not the case, and even a full pay line of five wild symbols will only net you 5x your bet in the Animal Carnival slot game. I suspect that the reason for this is that all of the symbols are stacked on the reels, including the wild, but even taking that into account, I can’t help but struggle here – doesn’t that mean a full screen of wilds is both possible and would only pay 50x your stake? The queen pussy cat character is the highest paying regular symbol at 3.5x, followed by bowser… sorry, a crocodile at 3x, a deer (I think?) also at 3x, and a monkey and a bear who both pay 2.5x your bet for five-of-a-kind.
Fantasma has included 20 wagering options which start at €0.20 for the minimum bet and tops out at €200.00 for each paid spin as the maximum. I can’t imagine too many people would want to bet that much every couple of seconds, but hey – the option is there if you want it.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic game of Animal Carnival takes place on a standard 5×3 playfield, but you will soon spot the additional three bonus reels that appear above these that contain wild symbols and drop onto the reels each time an avalanche completes and removes symbols from the regular reel area. There are two modifiers that can occur at random during the base game, and these are as follows:
Sparkle Wild Modifier
Any time one or more sparkle wild symbols appear on the main reels, it will activate this mod, transforming 1 – 4 random positions on the screen into additional wild symbols. The paytable notes that this mod cannot add wilds to the bonus reels above, which suits me just fine!
Cannon Respin Modifier
Keep an eye out for the cannon symbol, as one or more of these will trigger the second mod, which will kick in after you run out of avalanches. For each cannon symbol you hit, between three and six regular symbols will be removed to allow an additional avalanche to complete. If you do not score a win or run out of cannon symbols, the round will end, and you will be back to paying for your next spin.
Animal Carnival Free Spins Feature
As well as all of the action present in the base game, you also have a main free spins feature to look forward to whilst playing Animal Carnival. Three bonus symbols appearing on the main reels will award ten free spins after all avalanches and winnings have been paid out.
During the bonus round, all wins that you receive will be added to your win meter which is boosted by a wild multiplier once all free spins have ended. Any further bonus symbols that appear during your free spins will add one more free spin to your remaining counter.
Bonus Buy Feature
If it is permitted in your jurisdiction, you can skip the regular game and go straight to free spins by paying 70x your normal bet amount. This seems like a fair price to me, considering that there aren’t too many additional features during free spins.
