Armageddon Megaways (Reelplay) Slot Demo & Review

ReelPlay has stepped away from its 10k Ways series just long enough to create a second Armageddon slot, the first of which, unsurprisingly, was a 10k Ways title called Armageddon 10k Ways. This time, the developer has opted for a Megaways slot for what we should probably call a sequel, Armageddon Megaways. The focus is once again on a horde of demonic fiends that are hellbent on creating death and destruction on our beloved planet, and you, as always, will have to try and fend them off as you spin the reels. As for the stats, Armageddon Megaways offers up to 117,649 ways to win across a 6-reel gaming grid and comes with a 96.08% RTP and a maximum win of 10,157x bet.

I always find it rather annoying when slots have a base game that can reveal money symbols but doesn’t let you win them. Those symbols only serve as scatters during the base game, and when six or more land, the free spins bonus triggers. Once that happens, you can win the amounts of up to 100x the stake that land, while there are also four fixed jackpots – the best of which pays 2,000x the stake. The idea is to collect more cash values, which not only increases how much you win but also resets your spin count back to three.

If you think you have what it takes to fight off some rather menacing-looking demons, you can play the Armageddon Megaways slot demo from ReelPlay below.

Armageddon Megaways Slot Paytable

If you’re not a fan of the Megaways random reel modifier, then you’re probably better off playing the original Armageddon 10k Ways slot, as aside from that mechanic, they’re essentially the same game. The bonus round is identical, so the only difference is that you’ll spin a 4-5-5-5-5-4 reel configuration that always offers 10,000 ways to win on every spin, as opposed to the 117,649 ways that are in play on the Megaways version.

If you were wondering how the payouts shape up, they are identical, too. The Red Demon offers a 100x return for six in a row, the Purple Demon is worth up to 5x, and the Green and Blue Demons pay up to 2.5x and 2x, respectively. All that’s left are the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, and Nine, which, when landed in 6-symbol combinations, pay 1.2x, 1x, 0.9x, 0.7x, 0.6x, and 0.5x. The Solider symbol is the slot’s Wild and will substitute for all regular symbols.

Just to confirm how similar the two slots are, aside from the one obvious difference, even the staking options are the same. You can spin from a minimum of €0.20 a pop up to a maximum of €20.00.

Armageddon Megaways Slot Base Game

Armageddon Megaways Slot Base Game

Armageddon Megaways has six reels, and as the slot’s title tells us, it is a Megaways slot with up to 117,649 ways to win. Each reel can hold between 2 and 7 symbols on any spin, so the more symbols, the more ways you’ll have to win.

All symbols except the Red Demon, which requires two or more, need three or more to land on consecutive reels from left to right to form a winning combination. All symbols involved in a win are removed, allowing more to join the action from above.

Money symbols can appear on the reels holding cash prizes as a multiplier of your stake of between 1x and 100x the stake. However, these mean very little during the base game unless six or more are in view, which will trigger the following free spins bonus game.

Bonus Respins Game

The triggering cash symbols carry over to a new set of reels that can land:

  • Blank Symbols: These are blanks, which means no symbol has landed.
  • Money Scatter Symbols: Can hold cash prizes of 1x to 100x the stake.
  • Red Demon Money Symbols: These have a life value of 4 and can hold prizes between 2.5x and 100x.
  • Purple Demon Money Symbols: These have a life value of 3 and can hold prizes between 2x and 100x.
  • Green Demon Money Symbols: These have a life value of 2 and can hold prizes between 1.5x and 100x.
  • Blue Demon Money Symbols: These have a life value of 1 and can hold prizes between 1x and 100x.
  • Jackpot Symbols: The Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand Jackpot symbols can land holding cash prizes of 10x, 50x, 250x, and 2,000x the stake, respectively.

You receive an initial 3 re-spins, which reset back to 3 each time a Scatter Money symbol lands on the reels. All scatters, including the jackpot symbols, remain sticky throughout the bonus. When a Solider symbol lands on the same spin as a Demon symbol, it collects the values of all the Demons and reduces their life by 1. The bonus game continues until there are no more re-spins or all positions have been filled by Scatter prize symbols.

Pros

  • Fans of the series will be happy to see another 10k game.

Cons

  • Lacking features to make the game more interesting.
  • The cascades are frustratingly slow to complete.

Armageddon Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts

As mentioned throughout the review, Armageddon Megaways is essentially just a Megaways variation of the Armageddon 10k Ways slot. The bonus game is the same, the payouts are identical, and you can spin the reels using the same staking options. So, I guess you just need to choose which payment mechanic you prefer when deciding between the two.
