Game Overview
I’ve reviewed a ton of Halloween-themed slots, but I don’t think I’ve come across one with a theme quite as unique as the one used on the Cursed Can slot by Evoplay. You will not find Dracula, ghosts and ghoulies, vampires, Frankenstein, or any of the other common monsters you will on traditional Halloween slots. No, instead, a cursed can transforms farmyard fruits and vegetables into monsters at midnight on Halloween night. I like a bit of thought and imagination, so I already have a good feeling about this game. A few quick-fire stats to wrap up reveal this to be a 5-reel, 3-row, and 20-payline slot with a 96.12% RTP and a max win of 2,000x bet.
The base game is a little dull, but there is the chance to trigger a Random Event, which delivers one, two, or three reels containing the same instance of expanding symbol. However, as usual, it is the main bonus feature you will want to trigger more often than not. On Cursed Can, that is a free spins bonus with the chance of replacing high-paying symbols with additional wilds.
Will Cursed Can have you fearing veggies for the rest of your life, or will you enjoy this whacky take of a Halloween video slot? There’s only one way to find out, and that is to power up the Cursed Can slot demo below. You can spin for free without risking your hard-earned cash!
Cursed Can Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
At this time of the year, it feels like every slot I review has a Halloween theme. There’s nothing wrong with that apart from the fact I’m often left disappointed. They’re usually quick cash grabs, as many developers tack a Halloween theme onto an existing title and release it. A great example is Big Bass Halloween from Pragmatic Play; it’s just the original Big Bass Bonanza slot with a different theme. Sure, the original is a classic, so you will no doubt get some enjoyment from it, but it just smacks of laziness.
Anyhow, back to Cursed Can and the slot’s payouts. The Watering Can scatter symbol pays in any position and has the highest payout of all symbols. When landed five times anywhere in view, you receive 100x your stake. Next up, the Wild symbol and the Pumpkin both have a 60x payout for five symbol combinations. The Radish, Apple, and Plum round off the high-paying symbols with 40x, 30x, and 20x payouts, respectively. The A, K, Q, J, and 10 playing cards make up the lower values and pay 5x, 4x, 3x, 2x, and 1x, respectively.
The price to play Evoplay’s Cursed Can slot starts from a mere €0.10 a spin, with the maximum stake on our demo reaching an outrageous €30,000. I think it’s safe to say that all online casinos will cap that amount at a far lower limit, and it will likely be somewhere in the region of €75.
Cursed Can Slot Base Game
Evoplay has used the most common reel configurations of 5-reels and 3-rows for Cursed Can. You receive payouts when you line up three or more matching symbols across the 20 fixed paylines. The combination must start from reel one and move right along a payline.
Random Event
On any spin, the Random Event feature might kick into action. One, two, or three reels are randomly selected, and they all spin to reveal the same instance of a high-paying symbol, which fills all positions on each reel.
Cursed Can Slot Bonus Features
The main bonus feature of the Cursed Can slot game is a free spin round. This is triggered when 3, 4, or 5 or Cursed Can scatter symbols land on the reels.
Spooky Spins
To the left of the reels is a meter showcasing the regular high-paying symbols with several water droplets. When you land a Cursed Can symbol during free spins, a droplet is removed from the lowest high-paying symbol. If you remove all the droplets from a symbol, it is transformed into an additional wild symbol. If 3, 4, or 5 scatters land during the feature, 5, 7, and 10 free spins will be added to your current total, respectively.
Pros
- Entertaining bonus feature.
- Unique Halloween theme.
Cons
- Not much happening in the base game.
Cursed Can Slot Review Final Thoughts
You have to admire Evoplay for going with an engaging, whacky, and out-of-the-box theme, whilst other providers tend to stick to the more generic offerings. The quality of the graphics and animations is as good as you'd expect from this developer, and the mixture of bonus features injects some excitement into the gameplay. Overall, it is a decent effort and one I enjoyed playing.
