We will cover that in the free spin feature section of our review, but firstly for those who are not familiar with cascading reels we will explain to you exactly how they work.
When winning combinations of symbols are formed on the reels, those symbols that make up part of the win will explode and be removed. New symbols are then dropped down to replace the gaps that have been left giving you more chances to win.
These tumbles or cascades will continue until no further winning combos are made. Once you reach this point then that spin will have ended and a new game will need to be initiated.

As we touched upon earlier in the review, the cascading reels mechanic plays a massive part in triggering the free spin feature on 1 Million Megaways™ BC.
To actually trigger the feature you will need to hit 4 consecutive winning reel cascades which will award you with 8 free spins. Each subsequent cascade thereafter will award an additional 2 free spins with the maximum amount being capped at 14.
You can track your progress of successful cascades to the left hand side of the reels. There you will see the fire meter, that will lit up accordingly with each consecutive cascade.
The free spin bonus begins with some added excitement as an additional reel is added to the format of the game. This extra reel is placed in the middle and can hold up to 9 symbols, meaning that if all reels hold their maximum amount of symbols there are an incredible 1,058,841 paylines active.
There is also a win multiplier in play during the free spin bonus which will begin with a value of x1. Each successful win reaction will cause the multiplier to increase in value by x1, with there being no limit in place as to what this can reach.
As we have previously seen on Iron Dog Studio Megaways™ slots, there is a feature during the free spins that activates when a reel stops with its maximum amount of symbols in view. This reel then becomes locked and for all remaining spins of that bonus feature it can only land with its max amount of symbols in view.
This feature is again used in 1 million Megaways™ BC and if the reels do lock in place with their max height, then you will also be awarded additional free spins. Reels 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 will all add 1 extra spin when they are locked. Reel 4 will award a massive 5 extra spins if it locks in at its max height of 9 symbols.
The action doesn’t stop here either, with the middle reel also being host to the sticky wilds symbols. If these land anywhere on the middle reel then they will stick in place for the remainder of the bonus, with a total of 9 sticky wilds up for grabs.

Iron Dog Studio seem to have found their format with Megaways™ slots and continue to try and develop that concept. To date we haven’t seen them try anything else other than the cascading reel trigger and the locked reels during the bonus round.
This doesn’t seem to have halted their progress in making exciting Megaways™ titles though, in-fact quite the opposite. The addition of an extra reel during the free spins to raise the roof on the paylines and volatility is a genius idea, and will no doubt have players eager to try and reach the maximum ways of over 1,000,000.
It’s refreshing to see Iron Dog Studio further their journey with Megaways™ and not be sidetracked with what other developers are dong with the mechanic. They have found their winning formula and we look forward to seeing where they take it next.
