10 Swords (Push Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

I would imagine most of us have seen director Ridley Scott’s iconic movie Gladiator, which follows the story of Maximus Decimus Meridius. The lead role in that film, as the majority of women would probably tell you, fell to Russell Crowe, and whilst they all dreamed of a hunky man in combat uniform fighting off the enemy over them in the name of love and revenge, they were likely stuck with the Rodney Trotter version at home instead. (If you know, you know). Ancient Rome, though, is, of course, a great theme for an online slot, and today we’re set to take a walk through Push Gaming’s slot titled 10 Swords. This 5-reel game has 20 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96.45%, and a maximum win of 5,000x bet.

What has Push got lined up for us with regard to the feature set, then? Well, it would appear the main hook is a ladder collection feature, where landing four or more sword symbols simultaneously will award a corresponding multiplier prize from the ladder. Trigger the free spins, and you’ll get more chances to land the sword, as you can collect bonus symbols to upgrade the lower value symbols. Finally, we have an enhanced bet mode option that can be utilised, along with a feature buy option priced at a reasonable 50x bet.

Will you be victorious in fighting in the name of the emperor and Rome? I think it’s time we find out, so I suggest you fire up the demo slot of 10 Swords and give it everything you’ve got. It’s available to play below.

I often wonder if, during the brainstorming sessions of a new game, the design team are sat there with everything crossed, hoping that the big cheeses don’t all vote in favour of yet another fishing or book-related slot. I can imagine there is quite a sense of excitement when a theme such as Ancient Rome is agreed upon, and the creative juices of the designers can begin to flow. We only have to look at previous releases like Inspired Gaming’s Centurion Megaways or Nolimit City’s awesome Legion X to know this is a genre of slot that gets a bit of love. Is this going to be the case in Push Gaming’s 10 Swords? It’s time to get stuck in and find out more.

It’s over to the pays to begin, and the paytable is split into three sections. First, we have the premiums, with Caesar weighing in as the highest paying symbol at 40x bet for a five of kind win. Then we have the blue gladiator worth 35x for a full line of five, and the green gladiator valued at 30x if five land across an active payline. Next, it’s the mid-pays, where we have the helmet paying 15x, the flask at 12.5x and finally, the horn at 10x bet for a completed payline. Last, we have the low pays, which are the three royal symbols Ace, King and Queen, with all of these awarding 4x the bet for a five of a kind hit. Finishing off the paytable is the wild symbol represented by the golden eagle; this will substitute for all other symbols and also pay 20x bet for a full payline of five.

The betting range isn’t as comprehensive as you’ll find on other online slots, but strangely enough, even though there are just a dozen or so options to choose from, it looks like they cover pretty much every type of player. So, we have a minimum stake of €0.10 a spin, with the maximum price per play reaching €100.

Base Game & Modifiers

10 Swords Slot Base Game

Played across a reel formation of 5×3, the 10 Swords slot has a total of 20 fixed paylines. Players will need to match at least three symbols from left to right for a win to be awarded and credited to the balance.

Sword Symbol

The sword symbol can appear on any reel, and landing four or more on any spin will award an instant prize corresponding to the position you achieve on the meter positioned to the left of the reels. The possible wins for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 sword symbols are 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 100x, 1,000x and 5,000x respectively.

Ante Bet

Choosing to toggle on the Ante Bet option will increase the current bet size by 20%. However, the payoff is that you will have a higher chance of landing the sword symbols and triggering the free spins. According to the game help section, you receive an extra 0.04% RTP for using this option, so I’ll leave that down to you to determine whether it is worth it or not.

Final Thoughts

Push Gaming have plenty of success under its belts, and in fact, one of the most played slots here on our site is Retro Tapes, so they certainly know how to appeal to the masses. In the case of 10 Swords, however, it feels as though this has been made just to target the growing number of players who seemingly enjoy these styles of games that have been knocked out consistently by several studios under the Games Global umbrella. This is not a game I would find myself revisiting as I don't find those types of slots entertaining at all, but there are certainly many that do, so perhaps this will make it as a regular on your playlist if you happen to fall into that category of punter.
