Furthermore, the RTP is very low for an online game at just 94.93%.
The game displays the full paytable whilst loading, and I can see many players being impressed as the ten pages of modifiers, bonus rounds, and payouts begin to appear. Despite how it may first appear, several of these pages are taken up by standard information such as the payline layouts. 10,001 Nights Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The theme of 10,001 Nights video slot is clearly based on Arabian culture with Persian style roof decorations littered around the user interface. The reels are filled with camels, jewels, tigers, and men and woman in Arabian dress. The graphics are large, colourful, and extremely well drawn. The music has a distinctly Middle-Eastern feel too, though it remains quiet and in the background except for when one of the games many features is in play.
Red Tiger does not implement an updating paytable in their online slots which is a bit of a pet hate of mine as it makes it much more difficult to work out winnings in terms of multiples of your stake. The highest paying symbol by far is the wild, paying 55x your stake for a full line of five of a kind. With 20 paylines, this would equate to a maximum win in the base game of 1,100x your stake for a full screen of this symbol. All symbols are stacked on the reels as far as I can tell, so this should be a possibility, but I had yet to discover a way of winning the eponymous 10,001+x stake! A man wearing a turban marks the next-highest symbol on the pay table with a return of 40x your stake for all five on a pay line. Things drop off quickly after this, with the next highest symbol, the Tiger, paying just 8x your stake for five-of-a-kind.
Choosing your bet size is nice and simple, with a single selector allowing you to choose a range of steps between €0.20 and €1.00, and another range of steps taking you up to the maximum bet of €8.00 per spin. This is very low in online slot terms – some games allow you to bet much higher than this. Nevertheless, I feel that €8.00 is quite a sensible maximum – there aren’t too many players who can afford to bet much higher than this 25 times a minute anyway!
Base Game & Modifiers
The main game takes place on a slightly larger than average 5×4 play area, but with just 20 paylines there are a lot of combinations which look as if they should result in a win yet do not. Many games which use this enlarged style of viewport use 40 pay lines or even 1,024 payways; I would have expected there to be more larger wins on the paytable with this in mind. I suspect that a lot of the games RTP must be tied up in the many bonus rounds and modifiers. Speaking of which, the base game contains plenty of action:
Magic Lamps Feature
Many of the games features are triggered when a lamp is filled with magic oil. Each lamp that appears on the reels during the base game will contribute some magic oil to one of the four larger lamps that you can see above the reels. It takes up to nine magic lamps to fill each of the larger lamps, after which one of the following features will be triggered:
Imperial Spin Feature
All “low-paying” symbols are removed from the reels, giving you a higher chance of winning larger amounts. This works well sometimes due to the stacked symbols, however, the trouble is many of the “high-paying” symbols do not actually return very much – even for a full screen.
Random Wilds Feature
This feature was a lot kinder to me during testing than the Imperial Spin. The game does not specify a maximum number of wilds that can be added to the reels during this feature, however, three seemed to be roughly the average in my experience. Winnings seemed to be especially high here – I’m unsure if there could be a multiplier being applied too that isn’t mentioned in the help files?
Pick-me Bonus Feature
The next feature does award a multiplier which will be applied to your next win – you do not lose the award if your next spin happens to be a dead one, which does happen often. The introduction screen shows a maximum multiplier of 9x, although I never actually managed to hit this during testing.
Mega Wilds Feature
The biggie, this only comes around when all four of the large magic lamps have been filled, requiring a total of 30 of the smaller lamps to activate just once. Mega stacked wild symbols are added to the reels randomly – I only saw a maximum of two appear whilst testing the game, although it does appear that a full screen of stacked wilds should be possible in this feature.
10,001 Nights Slot Free Spin Feature
Look out for the “Destiny Spins” scatter symbol whilst playing – it doesn’t have any payout of its own, sadly, but it does at least award some free spins. You will get eight spins for three scatters, ten for four, or a maximum of 12 for all five scatters. You can also retrigger the feature during the bonus round for an additional 6, 7, or 8 free spins.
The magic lamps still appear during free spins, so it is possible to get multipliers and stacked wilds during this mode if you are particularly lucky.
10,001 Nights Slot Review Final Thoughts
I’m a little confused by the title – the maximum win during the base game appears to be 1,100x your stake, which would be 9,900x with the maximum multiplier shown. I’m guessing that a 10x multiplier can be won too, as the numbers I saw when winning that feature were different each time it opened. That would give a maximum win of 11,000x your stake – not quite as catchy as 10,001!
Either way, the trouble is winning anything from a single multiplier spin is very difficult, especially as it is nearly impossible to trigger a second feature whilst the multiplier is still active. It must be the ultimate long shot to win this game’s top prize – hundreds of millions to one, even – and there are just too many other great slots that award similarly high prizes more often for my liking.
