Game Overview
Do you know what’s boring about regular old roulette? It’s that 36-number wheel. Did you know that they all add up to 666? No, we can’t be having that said Playtech as they announced their 101 Roulette online gambling game. Clearly, we have no payways or paylines here – wins are determined by a metal ball spinning around a track, just like regular roulette. The difference now, of course, is the odds – instead of playing at 35/1, this roulette wheel has 105 slots – the numbers 1 to 100, plus five more, you could get unlucky with a green zero. This has quite a dramatic effect if you are betting on the zero line – the RTP drops to 85.71%, while 96.19% is still available for straight-up bets on single numbers.
With such a larger playfield, it was wise of Playtech to add some new options. The “LUCKY NUMBERS” mode bets are placed automatically on all numbers positioned in the borders and corners of a chosen number. There is also a “QUICK BET” mode where bets are placed automatically in the same row as the selected number and on all numbers in the same column.
So, fancy roulette with a little bit of extra action? Then Playtech has the perfect game for you! Check out our free demo of 101 Roulette, available to play below:
101 Roulette Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Anybody who has literally any experience of visiting the casinos – either online or offline cannot possibly fail to recognise the game of Roullete. It’s a spinning wheel onto which a metal ball is dropped and allowed to spin at its own pace until it loses the gravity necessary to keep spinning; at this point, it will randomly fall into one of the 105 pockets available in this game. This is quite different to other Roulette games where there are far fewer pockets – you have far less chance of landing on a zero when playing 20p Roulette, for example, but you could always try one of those, ahem, tried and test systems such as the Fibonacci Strategy if you think it might help you win some money!
Of course, the dramatic changes to the wheel layout also mean that you can expect some wildly different payouts too – a straight-up hit will now get you a full 100/1 return on your money, whilst a split is now worth 49/1. A zero street bet – all five of the green squares – is worth 19/1, whilst a full street of 10 numbers will get you 9/1. There are now five zero corners – you can bet on 0,1,2, spade,3,4, heart,5,6, and so on, and these will net you 32/1 in winnings. A corner bet is now 24/1, a zero line is 5/1, a column bet is now at 9/1, and all of the even money bets – Red/Black/Even/Odd (there’s no No High/Low in this variant) return identical payouts of even money.
There are only nine betting options available, but this doesn’t matter in the slightest as you are free to bet as many chips as you like on each position you like, as long as the total value of a chip does not exceed €50.00, either!
Base Game & Modifiers
Roulette is one of the simplest casino games to get to grips with, if not the simplest! Whether you are playing a six-number mini-roulette or a full-size game such as this, the objective is always the same – that metal ball will always spin, and it will always land in a pocket. The only question is, will it be one of 1 yours?
101 Roulette Bonus Features
I half expected there to be a bonus facility included in this game – several other 100-pocket roulette games have a special pocket that takes you to a bonus game. Alas, Playtech has not gone down that route with their version.
Just one thing to bear in mind:
34 x 3 = 102
4 x 3 = 12
That’s a total pocket count of 114
Regular roulette has 34 pockets, Let’s triple that up and, oh look, we get 102 pockets! In short, Playtech has added an extra green spot to this game quite sneakily, reducing your RTP. No doubt you can win more by playing this version, but you’ll also lose your bankroll much quicker too. Take that into account before playing this version of 100-pocket roulette! A good configuration has its zeroes and a bonus pocket.
Pros
- It’s a fascinating variation on the standard version of Roulette.
- Chance to win more money than you can on a 36-pocket wheel.
- Easy for anybody to pick up and play.
Cons
- The odds are worse than regular roulette.
- Higher variance means you’ll win more – but much less often.
- No traditional layout.
Final Thoughts
Tried as I might, but I failed to get into profit more than once whilst testing this game. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the odds are worse, and my results reflected that. I’d stick to our regular 20p Roulette if I were you.
