25 Coins™ (Wazdan) Slot Demo & Review

It is time for the latest in the line of unconventional slot games from Wazdan, a developer who has a far different opinion of what a slot should play like. The provider’s latest release, 25 Coins™, another title in the Coin series that has no paylines, no rows, no theme, and no base game – yes, if you’re unfamiliar with slots such as 9 Coins™, 12 Coins™, and 15 Coins™, you heard that right, there is no base game to speak of. You’re probably wondering, if that’s the case, how is the slot even played? Well, I’ll get into that shortly, but for now, familiarise yourself with the main stats – a 96.17% RTP, variable variance, and a max win of 2,000x the stake.

The base game, if you can even call it that, as you cannot actually win anything from it, is nothing more than a qualifying round for the main Hold the Jackpot™ Bonus. To clarify, there are 25 individually spinning one-position reels, and if you land one of the many types of bonus symbols across each of the reels on the middle line, you trigger the Hold the Jackpot™ Bonus Game, which can deliver up to 2,000x the stake. There’s no middle ground here, such as smaller payouts to help your bankroll tick over or a larger payout to cover previous dead spins – you either qualify for the bonus game, or you don’t.

As you’ll see from the few (there are more) titles I mentioned in the introduction, 25 Coins™ is far from the first Wazdan slot to utilise this unique slot model. It is a concept that will no doubt split opinions, but considering the number of Coins slots available, it suggests many enjoy it. If it’s new to you, why not check out the 25 Coins™ demo slot directly below – at least you can try before you buy.

It’s just dawned on me that, starting right now, this slot will play havoc with the standard review format we use here at Demoslot. There’s no actual theme to talk about in this section – and I still have to deal with the lack of a paytable and a base game (as such) for upcoming sections. Ah, a lightbulb moment – I’ll check how my colleagues have circumvented this in their reviews of previous titles, such as 9 Coins™ and its follow-up, 9 Coins™ 1000 Edition. By the way, if you’re wondering what difference the number of coins makes in this series, it is essentially how many individually spinning reels there are – the more of these, the bigger the potential in the Hold the Jackpot™ bonus as there’s more position to fill with special symbols.

Before I get into the main bonus feature of 25 Coins™, it’s probably worth checking out the sort of bets we can place per spin. As I expected, the betting range is the same as many other Wazdan slots, as you can wager between €0.20 and €10,000.00 per spin. I would, however, point out that the upper limit is almost guaranteed to be restricted when playing for real money, with a much smaller value likely being in place.

25 Coins™ Slot Base Game

As mentioned earlier, the base game only acts as a qualifying phase for the Hold the Win™ Jackpot Game. Your sole mission is to land a full line of five bonus symbols across the middle row of reels. I’ll break down those different symbols shortly, but first, there are a couple of optional features I want to explain to you.

Chance Levels

By default, you’ll spin with the Chance Level feature switched off, but it’s there if you want to spin for more money but with an increased chance of triggering the bonus game. You can pay 2x, 4x, or 6x your current bet to spin with 2x, 4x, or 6x the chance of landing the bonus symbols required to trigger the bonus.

Volatility Levels

The volatility tab, located next to the spin button, allows you to choose the variance you wish to play at, with low, medium and high options being available.

Special Symbols

Now, let’s look at the bonus symbols which can trigger the bonus game if any combination of five line up across the middle row of individual reels.

  • Cash Symbols: Hold values of between 1x and 5x the stake.
  • Mystery symbols: Regular Mystery Symbols can reveal any other bonus symbol except the Cash Infinity™, while Mystery Jackpot Symbols will reveal one of the Mini, Minor, or Major jackpots.
  • Cash Infinity™: These are similar to regular cash symbols but will remain sticky during the qualifying/base game and right up until the end of the bonus once triggered. They hold values of between 5x and 10x the stake, and if they land on one of the reels on the middle row, they’re one less bonus symbol to find during future spins.
  • Sticky to Infinity™: These are the Mystery symbols mentioned above but with Sticky to Infinity™ written upon them. They will stick to the reels until the end of the bonus game, at which point they will reveal bonus symbols or jackpot symbols, respectively.
  • Cluster Collector Symbols: Cluster Symbols also stick during the base game or main bonus and, for five spins, will collect up the values of adjacent Cash and Cash Infinity™ symbols.

25 Coins™ Slot Bonus Features

Are you keeping up so far? I admit there’s quite a lot to get through for a slot that, on the face of it, looks quite simple. Anyway, we’re at the main aspect of the 25 Coins™ slot, the Hold the Win™ Jackpot Game.

Hold & Win Jackpot Feature

Once the required bonus symbols trigger the main bonus game, those and all bonus symbols in all other positions carry over. You’re now given three respins, which reset each time a new bonus symbol lands in one of the empty positions. All the above special symbols can land, while there’s also the chance for the Mini (10x), Minor (20x), and Major (50x) jackpots to appear on the reels. Those symbols will pay their multiplier stake values at the end of the round.

As for the max payout of 2,000x the stake, that will come via the Grand Jackpot, which is won if you fill all positions with bonus symbols. If you do not manage that by the time the respins run out, you’re paid the combined values of all the symbols you did manage to collect.

Bonus Buy

You do have the option of cutting out the monotony of spinning winless spins until you trigger the bonus by using one of five options in the bonus buy menu. You can purchase the bonus for 50x, 75x, 100x, 150x or 300x. The more the cost, the better the triggering symbols will be.

Pros

  • Well presented, even if the theme has been done a million times before.
  • The Free spins bonus offers plenty of winning potential.

Cons

  • I’m not sure we needed another Egyptian-themed slot - but I guess they sell!

25 Coins™ Slot Review Final Thoughts

Like the other titles in this series, 25 Coins™ is one of those slots you’ll either love or hate. For me, it kind of contradicts itself as it's made out to be a no-thrills slot that gets straight to the point - the bonus round. Yet, as you can see in my review above, there’s a hell of a lot of explaining required for what is, on the face of it, such a simple premise.
