3 Clown Monty Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Obviously, the main theme of 3 Clown Monty is… well, clowns. At the same time, you also have the gorillas who act as wild symbols and can also turn into multiplier wilds. This gives the game a different feel to other Circus-themed games such as Golden Ticket, Carnaval, and The Twisted Circus. I must admit I don’t find the graphics particularly attractive, even if they are well-drawn. The music is equally blasé to my ears as well – it’s just not the top-tier presentation I have come to expect from this developer.
The first page of the paytable makes a big fuss about the games multiplier wilds – rightly so, in fairness, but at the same time, I was a little disappointed that multiple multiplier wilds do not multiply each other… umm, sorry, might have got a bit carried away with the word multiply there. Regardless, say you get two 25x multiplier wilds, the meter above the reels will move to 25x and your win will be multiplied by 25x. Thankfully, the wild symbol does have a payout attached to it and it’s not too bad as well, at 50x – land a full line of wild symbols with a 25x multiplier wild in there and you might be looking at 1,250x your bet! The regular picture symbols pay 50x your stake for the yellow clown, but drop off quickly with payouts of just 12.5x, 10x, and 5x for the remaining symbols. The game reminds you below these picture symbols that the maximum payout is 20,000x your stake… so how exactly is that possible?
Play’N’Go went a little crazy with the betting range on this one, with a spread of 1,000x between the lowest possible stake (€0.10 per spin) and the highest (€100.00 per spin). A maximum win on this game whilst playing max bet would result in a cash payout of €2,000,000 … I think you might find some casinos set a lower maximum bet than Play’N’Go intended, don’t you!?
Base Game & Modifiers
The 5×3 reel arrangement with ten fixed paylines is perfect for high variance slot machines, and Play’N’Go has leveraged this design here to create what is theoretically one of the biggest paying slots around. The Apes/Gorillas (yes, I do know they are technically not the same, but come on, let’s save that debate for another day) are called Bite-E as it turns out, and Bite-E serves many functions both in the base game and during the features.
Multiplier Meter Feature
The multiplier meter at the top of the screen is a kind of randomly activated win booster. Thankfully, you won’t see it move on losing spins – that would just be tormenting us players, after all. When the meter does move though, it can move from 2x all the way up to 25x, and when it does, all existing Bite-E symbols will be either upgraded or transformed into multiplier wilds that match the figure shown on the meter. The 25x multiplier has a habit of showing itself when you only have three adjacent symbols, and mysteriously going missing when you have a full line of five-of-a-kind… although to be fair, I did not play the game for long enough to make a completely fair judgement.
3 Clown Monty Slot Free Spins Feature
The scatters have no value of their own, but Play’N’Go has made sure to keep these symbols interesting all the same. Hit two scatters and you will initiate the Dealer’s Choice Feature, which will either donate you the extra scatter you need to kick off a bonus round, or alternatively, two to six additional wilds may be added to the reels. This is interesting because if you have the 25x multiplier active, you might be crossing your fingers for the extra wilds more than a single extra scatter! I told you Play’N’GO had kept it interesting!
Pick Me Free Spins Feature
When you do hit your three (or more) scatter symbols then you will be asked to choose one of them to determine the number of free spins you are awarded. I was disappointed that hitting more than three scatters does not increase the number of possible free spins – it merely gives you a better chance at picking the maximum number of 12 spins.
During the free spins mode, the multiplier meter is active on every spin. Furthermore, every wild will start as a multiplier wild and will be upgraded if it doesn’t match the value shown on the meter.

Monty Spins Feature
Two or more scatters during free spins will trigger the Monty Spins mode, where the value of the multiplier meter will remain locked at the position it was at when the Monty Spins began. You may receive between 4 and 9 Monty Spins, and this can happen repeatedly, resulting in very long bonus rounds.
The best part is, during the Monty Spins feature, all multiplier wilds are sticky. This is your chance – a full screen of 25x multiplier wilds would result in a payout of 25,000x your stake according to my math. The game states that the limit is 20,000x per individual spin, however, so your win may get a 20% haircut before it arrives in your balance.

The graphics in 3 Clown Monty initially threw me off, and I wasn’t sure if this was the type of game I would enjoy. Surely slot developers are aware that a large section of the population does not like clowns? …
Once you get past the somewhat disconcerting veneer presented by the graphics used in the game, however, the mechanics, math model, and overall slot design on display here is simply superb. For once, I’m kind of hoping that Play’N’Go makes a clone of this game based on fast cars, loose women, or any combination of the two. Do you hear me Play’N’Go?
