5 Lions Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Ferocious beasts are a favourite with slot developers; you only need to search for the buffalo in our review library to see that! The lion specifically is also very popular; it seems: we recently reviewed Play’n Go’s Wild North slot, for example, as well as a host of other big cat-themed machines such as Pragmatic Play’s own Dragon Tiger online slot. Funnily enough, though, the feature set included in 5 Lions Megaways has been lifted straight out of another Pragmatic Play game called 5 Rabbits Megaways! I don’t think five rabbits will be enough to feed five lions, though, do you?
You may expect the lion to be the highest-paying symbol in this game, and indeed it is, but it is also used as the game’s scatter symbol. Hitting all six will top up your balance by 100x the total stake. As for the regular symbols, a Chinese-style dragon will pay you 50x your bet for a full payway of six of a kind, followed by a ‘regular’ golden dragon and a frog, both of which share a return of 5x for all six symbols. There are two more high pays – a fish and a tortoise – which will award 2.5x the total bet for a complete payway. Finally, the lower-paying symbols are divided into two groups, with the Ace and King awarding 1.25x and the Queen, Jack, and Ten all paying 1x your stake for a six of a kind combination. It’s worth keeping in mind that all these prizes can be boosted by up to 40x whenever a wild symbol appears as part of the combination.
The normal betting range runs between €0.20 and €100.00 per spin, increasing to €0.25 and €125.00 per spin when the ante bet option is enabled. As is often the case with Pragmatic Play, there are more than enough options between these two amounts to match the budget of all those that choose to play this slot.
5 Lions Megaways Slot Base Game & Modifiers
Like most Megaways games, 5 Lions Megaways includes six main reels, but Pragmatic Play has opted not to include a horizontal reel this time around. Instead, all six reels can divide into between two and eight rows on each spin, resulting in a maximum of 200,704 payways. The Chinese Dragon symbol will award a win for just two adjacent symbols starting from the left, whilst all other symbols require at least three matches to award a win.
Wild Multiplier
Whenever a winning combination includes one or more wild symbols, a random multiplier will be awarded to all winning combinations resulting from the current game round. During the base game, the possible multiplier values are: 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 30x, and 40x.
Ante Bet
Enabling the ante bet option will increase your total stake by 25% in return for a 100% increase in your odds of triggering a bonus round. That seems like a fair trade to me, and there is no difference in the overall RTP when playing with this option enabled. As long as you have the bankroll, I recommend turning this option on to ensure you play as many bonus rounds as possible.
5 Lions Megaways Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatters with the appearance of the Yin & Yang symbol appear on all six reels during both the base game and during the feature itself. Hitting three will award 3x the total bet, increasing to 5x, 25x, or 100x for four, five, or six scatter symbols, respectively.

We've seen it plenty of times before, where the developer in question today has success from a slot release and then goes on to clone that game several times over. The most obvious title that springs to mind here is the Pragmatic Play Gates of Olympus slot, but more recently, we've seen the provider take the outstanding Zeus Vs Hades slot and reskin it for the Asian market with the release of Train to Seoul.So, although 5 Lions Megaways may well be just another clone, the original game was excellent, and I think I actually prefer the graphical style used here anyway!
