6 In The Chamber (Blueprint) Slot Demo & Review

I think most of us can immediately understand what the title of Lucksome’s game, 6 In the Chamber, refers to without further explanation – the iconic revolver, the predecessor to our modern semi-automatic pistol handguns, had six chambers arranged in a hexagonal configuration. Having ‘six in the chamber’ makes things a little bit dull though – the famous “game” of Russian Roulette relies on having only one bullet in the gun… and anyway, six in the ‘chamber’ is technically incorrect! Alas, let’s not get too technical here – this is a ten-line slot that offers a 96.06% RTP (96.21% in bonus bet mode) alongside jackpot prizes of either 50,000x or 100,000x the total stake depending on if that same bonus bet option has been enabled or not.

The feature set of this one looks intimidatingly long – the main game includes cascading wins, but there are also bounties with cash rewards available if you manage to hit certain sections of the playfield with your weapon. The bonus round offers free spins with bigger bounties and guaranteed ‘ricochet wilds’ after two consecutive wins from a single spin. The bonus bet – labelled as ‘hunter mode’ in this game – increases the cost of every spin by 50% in return for bigger bounties and guaranteed entry to the hunter free games when the bonus round is triggered. What are hunter free games? Those are the most valuable of the three available options – the other two are dubbed ‘rookie’ and ‘elite’, but the maximum win available in those modes is far lower than that of the hunter. Throw in a bonus buy facility and a unique ‘track your bounties’ high score table, and you have a very well fleshed out feature set that will only disappoint players who have become disillusioned by the complexity of modern online slots.

So, I guess it’s time to dust off your old six-shooter and get ready for an old West-style quick draw battle! Errr… yeah, I’m not sure about that one either. Nevertheless, our free demo slot of 6 in the Chamber is still available to play below!

Wild West-themed slots have been a familiar sight at every online casino since the success of NetEnt’s legendary Dead or Alive and its even more insane sequel. Every developer you can think of has tried their hand at recreating the success of NetEnt’s classic title, and there have certainly been some excellent attempts – Wild West Duels from Pragmatic Play was a heavy hitter, as was their Wild West Gold Megaways machine, a little later on. The truth is, however, that slots have moved on significantly since the days of Dead or Alive – it’s still hugely popular thanks to its ability to throw out huge wins on a whim, but it’s undeniably rather basic in comparison to a typical 2023 release.

With only ten paylines, it’s natural to assume that the paytable will be somewhat generous – there are three character symbols which I’ll be describing as the sheriff, the Indian, and the female – and those will pay you 100x, 75x, or 40x your current stake respectively for a complete payline of five of a kind. That’s not too shabby, but not the best you can get from a ten-line machine. In the middle of the pack, you’ll find stacks of cash and a bottle of whiskey, awarding 30x or 20x the total bet, respectively. Finally, playing cards are used for the low-paying symbols – the aces are worth 10x for all five symbols, whilst the remaining cards will get you 7.5x, 5x, 4x, or 2.5x for the Kings, Queens, Jacks, or Tens, respectively. If you were hoping for a big wild or scatter payout such as that offered by Dead or Alive, I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you – this game doesn’t offer a premium payout for either.

The betting range is also surprisingly limited – there are minimum/maximum limits of €0.10 and €5.00 per spin respectively, which should be enough for most players but still seems a tad restrictive compared to other modern releases.

Base Game & Modifiers

6 In The Chamber Slot Base Game

At a glance, 6 in the Chamber looks fairly similar to any other video slot – it utilises a standard 5×3 reel set, and with just ten fixed paylines, there’s no fancy Megaways business or anything like that to complicate the gameplay. That doesn’t mean that this is a simple game, however – every win results in a shot from your pistol, and if there are wilds currently shown above the playfield, you’ll aim for those to add extra wild symbols to the reels.

Cascading Wins

Cascading reels have become synonymous with modern online slots, so it’s always good when developers add something extra to their take on this concept when including it in their games. For example, 6 in the Chamber has a six-step system whereby you’ll first take out two ricochet wilds before moving on to four bounty upgrades which can award huge payouts of up to 10,000x your total bet!

Hunter Mode

Enabling Hunter Mode will add 50% to the cost of every spin, but in return, you’ll see much higher bounties being listed on the playfield. Furthermore, enabling this option provides you access to the very best free spin mode with the game’s top jackpot of 100,000x.

6 In The Chamber Slot Bonus Features

A three-scatter trigger will only award you six free spins in this game; even four scatters are only sufficient for eight free spins, with a full five-scatter trigger required to get a full ten free spins during your bonus round. There are three volatility options on offer after triggering the feature, but only two are enabled unless you are playing in Hunter Mode.

Free Spins

If you opt for the Rookie Free Games, the maximum amount you can win is limited to 20,000x the total bet, but you are also guaranteed ricochet wilds after your first two cascading wins. This option is labelled as a 6/10 on Lucksome’s volatility scale.

Go for the ‘elite’ spins, and your top prize rises to a massive 50,000x the total bet. All bounties are increased in this mode, and the developer labels this as being a 7/10 on their volatility scale.

Finally, if you are playing in hunter mode, there is only really one option to take – the hunter free spins with a top jackpot of 100,000x the total bet! You would be mad to choose either of the other options if you have been playing at the higher cost per spin, but it’s worth bearing in mind that the insane 10/10 volatility of this feature means that you will often win very little – only a handful of players will ever receive those enormous jackpot prizes.

Bonus Buy

Want to check out all three free spin modes but don’t want to wait for them to drop in naturally? Aha, you are in luck! The rookie spins can be had for just 65x the total bet and award 6-10 spins, whilst the elite spins cost 80x and promise 8 or more free spins… Finally, 10 spins are guaranteed if you pay 150x the total bet for the hunter game mode.

Pros

  • Tonnes of features – you’ll need to play this one for some time to see everything.
  • The Cascade shot feature is rather unique and feels much more interesting than just another rolling reels type game.
  • Jackpot is huge; whichever mode you play – 20,000x, 50,000x, or 100,000x – it’s all well above average!

Cons

  • It’s unclear exactly how the different bonus modes affect your chances of collecting a big win – I can’t believe they all offer identical RTPs.
  • The best free spins can only be seen playing with the bonus bet enabled.

6 In The Chamber Slot Review Final Thoughts

6 in the Chamber is a rather average Wild West inspired online slot – it offers a lot more variety than older games with the same theme, and the promised jackpots should be enough to excite even the most hardcore high-variance slot lovers. Unfortunately, the game just didn’t grab me – I failed to hit anything good from any of the features despite trying them all many more times than during a typical review. I’m sure that some players will hit those massive jackpots, but be prepared to lose your shirt if you chase them too hard!
