7’s Of Luck (Inspired Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

The origins of the leprechaun date back to the 8th century, when Irish folklore tells us the little green guy started as a type of magical, mischievous pixie. If caught by a human whilst performing their hijinks, they often offered to grant them a series of wishes in return for their release. Nowadays, they are more commonly associated with St Patrick’s Day and slot games, as seen in this title from Inspired Gaming. This lucky leprechaun’s latest outing sees him staring in 7’s of Luck, a medium volatility, five-reel, four-row slot featuring a maximum win of 5,000x and an underwhelming RTP of 92.00%.

After spending some time testing this title, I soon realised that it reminded me of the £500 jackpot slots found in many arcades, bookmakers, and land-based casinos. That would make sense, as Inspired Gaming has historically had a lot of input into that market. A prominent feature of the games found on those machines is the pie gamble, where base game wins of a certain value can be gambled for either increasing amounts of free spins or higher cash amounts. That aspect is also present on 7’s of luck, where you can choose to spin the wheels to win up to 30 free spins or increased cash values. The free spins round can also be triggered naturally by landing three scatter symbols, awarding eight free spins. No matter how you activate the bonus, all variants include the same symbol upgrade aspect.

A glance at any online casino slot selection page will demonstrate there is an abundance of Irish-themed slots available. And why wouldn’t there be? A world based around a charming little fella who can grant wishes and lead you to a pot of gold is all the inspiration needed to create a great slot. One of the more notable releases is the Shamrock Saints slot from provider Push Gaming. It’s a high volatility slot game with a solid RTP of 96.30%, a potential maximum win of 10,000x, and includes two action-packed bonus rounds. Or perhaps you’d prefer to combine your love of leprechauns with a spot of fishing? Then Gameburger Studios has just the game for you. It’s Fishin Pots of Gold, another high volatility slot, with a maximum win of 5,000x. Will you be able to reel in a whopper during the bonus round? Check out the demo if you fancy your chances. Right, next up, we’ll look deeper into the features of 7’s of Luck, starting with how much you can win.

As you might have guessed, due to the name of this slot, 7s feature highly on the paytable. The top symbol is the Triple 7s, which will return 10x your stake for each line of five symbols. Next, it’s the Double 7s at 7.5x, followed by the Single 7 at 6x, with the Horseshoe and the Harp completing the premium section, both paying 5x. The low paying symbols are the Green Dot, Blue dot, and Purple Dot, all returning 2.5x per line of five symbols, and finally, a line containing a mix of any combination of 7s is worth 1x.

Onto the bet selection, there are 15 different stakes to choose from, to be precise, ranging from as low as €0.20 to as high as €100.00. Having scanned through the other choices between these amounts, I don’t see there being any problems for both low and high rollers to find a bet size they are comfortable spinning at.

7’s Of Luck Slot Base Game

7's Of Luck Base Game

Looking at the game mechanics, we can see that 7’s of Luck operates on a five-reel, four-row setup with 40 fixed paylines active. There is nothing fancy to discuss here, as standard with most slots of this type, wins are achieved by matching a minimum of three symbols from left to right, and all wins must commence from the leftmost reel.

Gamble Option

Players can choose to toggle the gamble feature on or off, depending on their personal preference. When on, either any base game win 5x or above, or any base game win at all, will result in the pie gamble screen opening. On this screen are two pies, one representing the number of free spins and one representing a cash value.

The win/loss zones within these pies can be made smaller or larger, increasing or decreasing the number of free spins or cash being gambled for, along with the chance of landing the gamble. Once a wheel is spun, the needle landing in the green zone will result in the relevant prize being won, and the needle landing in the red zone will result in a complete loss of any accumulated prize. Players can choose to collect their current position at any time or continue to gamble. The maximum number of free spins that can be obtained is 30.

7’s Of Luck Slot Bonus Features

7's Of Luck Free Spins Feature

Scatter symbols appear on reels one, three, and five only. The bonus is triggered by landing three scatters on any one spin, which will award eight free spins.

Free Spins

The bonus round takes place on the same grid layout as the base game and plays in a very similar way. The only difference here is a symbol upgrade feature that sees all 7 symbols involved in a win line upgraded to match the highest value 7 symbol within that line.

Pros

  • Pie gamble is great fun.
  • Bonus triggers fairly frequently

Cons

  • RTP is well below average.
  • Winnings from the free spins bonus cannot be taken to the pie gamble screen.

7's Of Luck Slot Review Final Thoughts

I have many fond memories of hitting the pie gamble on FOBT terminals, and they are great fun yet infuriating at the same time. That element is definitely a positive inclusion in this slot for me. I was slightly disappointed to find that winnings from the bonus round could not be taken across to the gamble wheels, as this is where you would have the chance to max out the spins or achieve a high cash value win as you are coming from a higher value starting position. The low RTP is also a real downside. The base game is reasonably enjoyable to play, especially as the bonus seems to trigger fairly regularly, and overall, I think this is a decent game if nothing exceptional.
