Magic has been invoked throughout history by entertainers and conmen alike – there’s zero evidence of anybody ever possessing any truly magical powers, but that hasn’t stopped the concept from becoming a full-on legend of popular culture. The online slots industry is packed with magic-inspired machines – I was just discussing one such game named Magic Piggy earlier today, but there are dozens if not hundreds of other examples, including Aztec Magic Megaways, Magic Mirror Deluxe 2, and Magic Money Maze. The great thing about using magic as your theme is that it doesn’t really tie you into anything specific – the four games I’ve just mentioned are all completely different from one another, with magic being the only thing that ties them all together. Oh, and if you were wondering, the word Abracadabra is historically used as an incantation on amulets. The word first appeared in a book published during the second century AD, making it one of the oldest magical references still in everyday use today.
As with most games that utilise large numbers of payways, you’ll need to win on many simultaneously to score an exciting prize when playing Abrakadabra. Even the highest-paying symbols on the paytable, represented by the four alien-looking creatures, offer only modest returns of 2.5x, 1.2x, 0.9x, or 0.55x the total bet. Predictably then, things go downhill quickly once you get to the lower-paying symbols – five aces or kings will only get you 0.35x your total bet, whilst five queens or jacks return just 0.25x each. There are no payouts whatsoever attached to either the scatter or wild symbols, but there’s one important saving grace here – every winning combination causes your current multiplier to increase in ever-greater steps. For example, your second win will be boosted by a 2x multiplier – a 1x increase – whilst a third win will receive a 4x multiplier – a 2x increase. This pattern continues with successive multipliers of 7x, 11x, 16x, and so on.
Clicking on your current bet in the bottom-right corner of the screen will pull up a quick bet selection window with 16 different staking options. The minimum/maximum permitted wagers have been set at €0.20 and €60.00 per spin, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
The 5×3 layout used in Abrakadabra is a common configuration for a video slot, as are the 243 payways that span the playfield and the cascading symbols mechanic. Beyond that, however, things soon begin to get much more interesting! You’ll need at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left to score yourself a win, and whilst the numbers on the paytable are certainly not impressive, the machine offers several ways of improving them:
Power Reel
The ‘power reel’ is an additional row of symbols shown directly above the main panel. However, the power reel does not contain regular symbols and only has two possible outcomes – a wild with lives or a power-up.
Wild Cascades
When winning combinations form on the playfield, the symbols that produced the win will be removed from the reels. The resulting gaps will be filled first with symbols from the power reel and then with random additional regular symbols if further gaps remain.
Wild Lives
In most games, wilds work as simple substitutes for other regular symbols – in Abrakadabra, however, wilds come with lives attached! Every wild can have between one and three lives and will not be removed from the reels until all those lives have been used up. This even applies between game rounds and not just between cascade sequences, as you might expect.
Multiplier Powerups
These unique powerups only appear during the regular and super free spin modes. When dropped, the multiplier powerup will increase the current multiplier by one step during regular free spins or up to three steps during the super free spin mode. More than one multiplier powerup can land simultaneously, in which case their values will be added together before being applied to the global multiplier.
Step Multiplier
Every win that occurs whilst playing Abrakadabra will increase the global multiplier. During the base game, this multiplier is reset between each round, whilst in the normal and super free spin modes, the multiplier is retained between rounds and for the duration of the feature.
Power Bet
The power bet is a bonus bet facility that adds 50% to the cost of every spin in return for a 100% increase in the chances of triggering a bonus round. Enabling this option does not have any effect on the overall RTP.
Abrakadbra Slot Bonus Features
Landing three scatter symbols during a single spin will award seven free spins, with two extra spins being added to that total for each additional scatter above the minimum of three. The super free spins mode can be accessed either using the bonus buy facility or by collecting scatter symbols during an extended session of play. When enough regular bonus rounds have been played, you’ll eventually fill the super meter to capacity, causing your next feature to be played in the ‘super’ free spin mode.
Free Spins
The free spins feature is largely identical to the base game, but there are one or two important differences – first, the power reel now contains extra symbols which award additional free spins or increased multipliers. The only difference between the two modes is that during the super free spins, the global multiplier can increase by up to 3x each time rather than the fixed 1x during the regular free spins.

Final Thoughts
I’m not sure if the name of this slot fits the game particularly well, but it doesn’t really matter very much when the machine is this much fun! The 10,000x jackpot is the icing on the cake here, and the rapidly increasing step multipliers give you the feeling that every spin may well just pay you that monster of a prize – exactly as a good slot should!
