Action Bank Cash Shot Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The Bar-X style of slot machine is one of the longest running types of slot machine. These games began as penny slots at seaside arcades with tiny jackpots – the type of machine that even children were allowed to play at one time. The definition of a Bar-X game has evolved somewhat over the years. Still, the usual modus operandi is a reel set comprising a limited number of symbols, including noughts, crosses, and bars. Action Bank Cash Shot adds lucky sevens, scatter symbols, and gold and silver vault symbols to the mix, but you only have to glance at the reels to recognise this as a Bar-X slot.
A full line of cross symbols will pay you 1x your stake, whilst the BAR symbol has a return of 2.5x your bet for five-of-a-kind. The lucky sevens are the best paying of the bunch and pay you 10x the current stake for all five. There is also a wild joker symbol, but these only appear on reels two through five, so it is impossible to score a full pay line of those. The silver vault symbols have a separate paytable; three will pay you 2x your bet, whilst ten award 100x, and the maximum 15 symbols will immediately pay you the game’s jackpot of 5,000x. Base Game & Modifiers
After playing the base game for a few minutes, I suspect most players will be searching for the mute button – the background music is a very lively but short loop and will quickly tire your ears, not to mention the thud of the reels stopping on every spin. I genuinely believe that slot developers need to spend a little more of their budget on good musicians and sound designers – how the developers could think the sound setup in this game is acceptable is beyond me.
With the sound disabled, the base game is an enjoyable experience. The 5×4 playfield has 1,024 pay ways, meaning that any combination of matching symbols from left-to-right on adjacent reels will result in a win. All symbols are stacked on the reels, which explains why the numbers on the paytable are relatively small.
Silver Vaults
The silver vault symbol will award a multiplier of the current stake depending on the number of symbols which are currently in view. The multipliers are displayed above the reel set in the base game and can be worth up to 5,000x your bet.
Gold Vaults
The gold vault symbol combines with silver vault symbols to boost the received payout. For example, if you hit six silver vault symbols plus a single gold vault symbol, you may receive the prize for seven vault symbols, or you may receive the prize for ten or more vault symbols. The boost given by a gold vault symbol is random but can result in a jackpot payout if the gold vault symbol takes your total up to 15 or more symbols.

The main bonus round is a free spin feature triggered when three or more bonus symbols appear in view. Three scatters will award eight spins, whilst 12 or 16 free spins will be awarded for four or five scatters, respectively.
During this mode, many symbols can randomly have the text “DOUBLE” emblazoned upon them; this is not a 2x multiplier but will instead act as a split symbol that doubles the number of payways for any combination that passes through this symbol. This is much more valuable than a simple 2x multiplier as it can potentially affect all 1,024 pay ways simultaneously.
As an added bonus, the gold vault symbol will appear on all five reels during the free spins feature, making winning the larger vault prizes from the multiplier trail much easier.

Action Bank Cash Shot is a vast improvement over the original game, in my personal opinion – I’m not usually a fan of Bar-X slots, but this one caught my interest, and I found myself playing it much longer than was strictly necessary to write this review. Every time I hit a vault win, I became more and more determined to reach a higher prize – I suspect I’ll be trying for a long time before I get the maximum of 15, but I bet I’ll have lots of fun whilst I do so!
