This obviously meant that Playtech needed to come up with a new twist for the bonus round of this game, and the developer has gone for guaranteed stacked wilds in addition to keeping the current round multiplier in between spins. Age Of The Gods King Of Olympus Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Playtech’s Age of the Gods franchise was created to replace the developer’s Marvel line of online slots when their license expired a few years back, resulting in all of the existing games being given a new lease of life as Age of the Gods machines. Some of these games are better than others – I quite enjoy God of Storms and the original game titled Age of the Gods, but one or two of the others would probably have been better off being forgotten rather than re-released! This latest entry is a fairly typical Megaways game with little in the way of unique features, and even the graphics gave me the feeling that I’d seen it all before – I suspect they are recycled from a previous Age of the Gods game. On the other hand, it is nice to see a Megaways game featuring a progressive jackpot, and that aspect of the machine could well be enough to attract a reasonable number of players.
I had to double-check how much everything is worth in this game, as the numbers shown on the paytable didn’t seem to make much sense at first. Most Megaways games include at least one symbol worth around 50x the total bet, but that sure isn’t the case here – at least not without a huge multiplier! The Pegasus symbol is the most valuable of the bunch, but it’s only worth 5x the bet for a full payway of six of a kind. The payout for the eagle symbol drops to just 2x for all six symbols, whilst the longship offers just 1x for a complete payway of those. The harp and jug share equal returns of 0.5x for all six symbols, whilst the four low-paying royals are worth just 0.4x for a six of a kind combination. These are low payouts, but they don’t really give an accurate representation of the game’s potential, as even base game spins can reach a multiplier of up to 20x following a few consecutive wins.
Plenty of wagering options are available in King of Olympus, starting with a minimum bet of €0.10 per spin. After that, you can bet any multiple of €0.10 until you reach €1.00, after which the jumps get progressively larger until you reach the crazy maximum bet of €350.00 per spin. Let’s be honest – if you can afford to bet those sorts of amounts, you probably don’t need to win a progressive jackpot too urgently!
Base Game & Modifiers
This is a six-reel game with varying numbers of rows on each reel, resulting in a variable number of payways on every spin. Reels one and six can feature between two and seven rows, whilst reels two through five can have between two and six rows at a time. An additional reel is positioned above reels two through five, effectively creating a 6×7 playfield.
All winning combinations will trigger the collapsing reels feature, meaning the winning symbols will disappear after they have been paid out. This will cause any non-winning symbols above them to drop, permitting additional symbols to fall in from above. The reels will continue to collapse until there are no more visible winning combinations.
Progressive Multiplier
Every time a winning combination is removed from the playfield, the current round multiplier will increase by 1x. The maximum multiplier achievable in both the base game and free spins is 20x, after which any further winning combinations will not increase the multiplier any further. The multiplier is reset in between base game spins.

The bonus scatter symbols that appear in King of Olympus can feature the letters ‘Z’, ‘E’, ‘U’, and ‘S’, or a ‘+5’ sign. Hitting four or more scatters simultaneously will award a set of free spins, with 10, 15, or 20 spins awarded for four, five, or six symbols, respectively.
Free Spins
At the start of the free games feature, your current round multiplier will be reset to 1x. As in the base game, this multiplier will increase by 1x every time a winning combination is removed from the reels. Unlike the base game, the multiplier does not reset between free spins; however, the maximum achievable value is still only 20x.
At the start of every free spin, one reel is chosen randomly from reels two, three, four, and five. An expanded wild symbol will then appear on the selected reel, occupying all six possible positions. The expanded wild symbol is not removed as part of the collapsing reels phase and will stay in place regardless of how many consecutive winning combinations occur during that round.
Additional free spins can be won by hitting three or more scatter symbols during the bonus round. Three will award five extra spins, whilst four, five, or six add 10, 15, or 20 more spins to your remaining counter.
Jackpot Feature
All games in the Age of the Gods franchise are linked to Playtech’s four Power Progressive Jackpots. Any spin of any amount may trigger the jackpot game.
