Game Overview
With so many Ancient Egyptian slots on the market, would I be right in guessing that most slot players would stand a chance of knowing more about Egyptian history than the average archaeologist? With all the tombs, temples, and pyramids we’ve explored via our favourite slots throughout the years, it certainly feels like we could. Blueprint Gaming is one of the most prolific software developers regarding this theme, with many classics already featuring at online casinos, and now the popular provider is back with yet another. Anubis Rising is a 5-reel, 3-row, and 10-payline slot with a 95% RTP and a 5,000x the stake max win.
Those core stats might make you think Anubis Rising is a simple slot, but while it’s not as feature-packed as you’d expect from a modern game, there’s more than enough to keep you occupied. The base game, while admittedly slightly dull, has expanding wilds to help add a bit of excitement, but it’s the main free bonus that steals the show. Once triggered, you’ll get the chance to add multiple upgrades to the bonus, such as additional wilds, wild multipliers, and symbol upgrades. As the bonus plays out, you can unlock more symbol upgrades and land additional free spins.
I’ve had a great time testing out this slot throughout the last day, and my first impressions were that it could be another excellent Egyptian-themed slot added to the Blueprint portfolio. Don’t believe me? Find out for yourself via the Anubis Rising demo slot. It’s free to play below.
Anubis Rising Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I mentioned earlier that Blueprint Gaming is no stranger to Ancient Egyptian slots, and if you would like to try one of their most popular slot games here on our platform, then go check out the Eye of Hours demo. If that, or indeed today’s slot review of Anubis Rising puts you in the mood for more Egyptian adventures, I’d also recommend playing some free spins on the Cleocatra slot from Pragmatic Play, and Sahara Cash Collect from Playtech.
While it is clear Blueprint Gaming has done well out of this theme to date, I’m curious if that success continues with the release of this latest Egyptian slot. The best place to start is the paytable, where you’ll find symbols you probably once didn’t know what they were, but now, thanks to playing online slots, you know them off by heart. The Eye of Horus tops the bill with a return of 50x the stake for five in a row, followed by the 40x max win offered by Anubis. Next is Isis, which has a top payout of 30x for a five-symbol combo, while the Scarab is worth slightly less, with a maximum of 25x available. Completing the premium pays are the well known Ankh and Lotus Flower, both returning up to 20x the stake for a full line of five. As for the low pays, you’ll find these in the form of the Ace, King, Queen, and Jack, which each share payouts of 10x the bet for a winning combo of five.
On to the final part of this section, and we end with the staking options available on Anubis Rising. Players can choose from over 20 bet sizes starting from a budget friendly €0.10 a spin and maxing out at €50.
Anubis Rising Slot Base Game
Blueprint’s Anubis Rising is played over a standard 5×3 reel configuration, and across that formation, 10 fixed paylines are in play. You’ll receive a payout whenever three or more matching symbols, starting from the leftmost reel, land on consecutive reels across a payline.
Expanding Wilds
Wild symbols can appear in any position on reels two, three, and four. They will expand to fill their reels and substitute for any regular symbol if a winning combination is possible.
Anubis Rising Slot Bonus Features
The main highlight of Anubis Rising is the free spins bonus round, and you’ll need to land three or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in view during the base game for it to be triggered
Pick Your Bonus
Before the free spins start, a Pick a Bonus game loads up, allowing you to add up to 5 upgrades to your free spins. You must continue to pick symbols until one reveals ‘Start Free Games’. While you can unlock all the upgrades, it’s also possible to have free spins without any at all.
The possible upgrades are:
- Tablet Boost: upgrades the lowest-valued symbol type on the meter above the reels to the next lowest-value symbol. You can reveal this upgrade multiple times.
- Super Wilds: Converts all wilds into Super Wild symbols. When 1, 2, or 3 of these land on the reels, you’ll receive 2, 6, or 10 additional free spins, respectively.
- Extra Wilds: Additional wild symbols are added to the reels during the free spins bonus.
- Gold Anubis Wild: Adds a special Gold Anubis Wild symbol that will apply multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x the stake to any wins it helps create.
- Pyramid: Awards between 2 and 5 additional free spins.
Free Spins Feature
Along with the above upgrades, the free spins bonus also gives you an upfront payout, which depends on the number of scatter symbols that trigger the feature. Three scatters provide 2x the stake, while you’ll get 20x or 50x for four and five, respectively.
Furthermore, whenever wild symbols land on the reels during the spins, they will upgrade the symbols as per the meter above the reels. You’ll also receive 1, 3, or 5 additional spins whenever 1, 2, or 3 land in view.
Pros
- Thanks to the potential upgrades, the free spins bonus can be epic.
Cons
- Some may be disappointed to see a max win of just 5,000x.
Anubis Rising Slot Review Final Thoughts
Blueprint has enjoyed huge success from Egyptian-themed slots in the past, and I believe the release of Anubis Rising is yet another that will go down well with players. Personally, I had a great time playing, and if you can trigger the free spins bonus with a decent haul of upgrades, the chances are you’re in for hitting a memorable payout.
