If you’re a hardened Nolimit City fan, as many are, myself included, you’ll already know about all the blockbuster hits released in recent times. Instead of telling you about those, I want to use this section to point you towards some earlier titles from the developer. While none are nearly as innovative as Apocalypse and other recent releases, these slots show early signs of what the studio has become. Gaelic Gold, for example, showcased the developer’s lust for winning potential by offering a max win of over 9,000x on a 3×3 slot with 9 paylines. Furthermore, in Hot Nudge, you can see the early days of an artistic style that we’ve come to love.
Right, it’s time to move on with this review of Apocalypse, starting with the paytable. There are 10 regular symbols, half of which are the main characters, Crawler, licker, Cutter, Triplet, and Creator, and the other are theme-related items. Crawler returns 2.5x for a 6-symbol combo, Licker can reward up to 1.5x, and Cutter delivers up to 1.2x. Triplet and Creator round off the premiums with rewards of 1.1x and 1x, respectively. The action occurs across a 6×4 reel configuration that offers 4,096 ways to win. Winning requires landing three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels from the first reel moving right.
Xnudge Wild Symbols
When these land on reels two to five, they’ll nudge down to the bottom row, earning a multiplier of 1x for each row. When they finally lay to rest, the symbol becomes a wild that substitutes for regular symbols and applies its multiplier to the win.
Super Xnudge Wild Symbols
The Super xNudge feature only triggers when the symbols, which can land on reels three and four, land on each but on the same row. They again drop to the bottom row, collecting a 1x increase in their multiplier for each row. Once at the bottom, they expand to fill their reels.

Both start with a Hoarding Feature. This is a Hold and Win style entree to the main bonus. You have 3 re-spins to try and land cash symbols carrying prizes of 1x, 5x, 10x, 20x, and 40x the stake. Each new symbol resets that count to 3, and should you fill an entire reel with symbols, you’ll receive an additional free spin for the next part of the bonus. Enhanced rows appear above and below the grid used in the Hoarding feature, and these rows will spin in symbols. However, only the five character symbols can land to trigger special modifiers that apply to the cash symbols you’ve already collected.
- Creator: Adds a random cash symbol to one unclaimed position on the reels.
- Triplet: Adds 3 upgrades to value symbols.
- Cutter: Doubles the value of one random value symbol.
- Licker: Will add the value of the highest value symbol to the total to the right of the reels.
- Crawler: Combines and collects all values in view on the reels and adds it to the total to the right.
There is a persistent variation of each of the character symbols that moves one position to the right at the start of each spin until it falls off its row.
Cataclysm Free Spins Bonus
The third free spins bonus, which requires five scatters to trigger, is also similar. This time, you receive 10 free spins, and during the second stage of the bonus, all character symbols are persistent.

Perhaps it’s because I, like us all, have been spoilt by the quality Nolimit City releases in the past few years, but Apocalypse didn't leave as big an impression on me as other recent titles. It’s still a good slot, but I feel it's a level down on titles such as Deadwood R.I.P., Fire in the Hole 2, and Land of the Free. I think that’s mainly because there’s not much we’re seeing here that hasn't been covered and used before.
