Game Overview
I’m sure many people have dreamt of becoming an astronaut at some stage in their lives. Unfortunately, it’s not an ambition that’s easy to achieve, with only a very small number of humans having ever experienced travel beyond planet Earth. Not to worry, though, as Smartsoft Gaming has fired up their spaceship, and we’re all invited along for the mission. Pull on your spacesuit and prepare for lift-off in Apollo 77. It’s a low volatility, five-reel, three-row slot featuring a maximum win of 250x and a rocket-fuelled RTP of 98.00%.
As you’d expect from a space travel inspired game, the backdrop is a scene depicting a spaceman exploring a faraway planet, standing next to a suspiciously small looking space rocket. Above that display is the 5×3 slot grid, which also features intergalactic themed symbols. In order to achieve a win, you’ll need to match a minimum of three of those symbols from the leftmost reel across any of the games 243 pay ways. Located on the spaceship graphic are the words Apollo 77, and each win involving any of those letters and numbers on the reels will make the respective ones light up. When they are all lit, the spaceship feature will be awarded, where a prize of up to 100x can be won. There is also another bonus to look out for, which can be triggered in a more conventional manner by landing three scatter symbols on the reels. During this bonus, you’ll explore other planets in the solar system, hoping to stop on high value ones to collect their values.
I’ve always thought space travel is probably not as glamorous as it looks. It’s the little things that would annoy me, like using the toilet or eating your dinner; doing those things can’t be easy in zero gravity! There’ll be plenty of training required before we launch, so why not start on the Apollo 77 demo slot? It’s available to play free of charge below!
Apollo 77 Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
When browsing the slot universe, you’ll likely spot as many space-themed slots as stars in the galaxy. One of the most popular out there is Mystery Mission to the Moon, from provider Push Gaming. It’s a high volatility game, with a potential maximum win of 10,000x. You’ll be hoping to line up all six stacks of the game’s mystery symbols and reveal the angry alien for an out-of-this-world win. Alternatively, why not give Astro Newts Megaways a spin? It’s a world of cartoon UFO-inspired fun, brought to us from Iron Dog Studios, featuring a 6×7 grid slot, with a maximum win of 25,000x, that offers up to 235,398 ways to win! Phew, beam me up, Scottie. I’m ready for a break, but before I take a rest, let me guide you through the features of Apollo 77, beginning with the pays section.
Matching five symbols across a payway is required to achieve the top payout value for each symbol on Apollo 77. Rising highest at the top of the paytable is the Moon Base symbol, which will return 40x your stake for each line of five. Next, it’s the Car Topped Space Rocket at 20x, followed by the Satellite at 8x, the Space Rover at 5.6x, and the Astronauts Helmet at 4.8x. The final premium symbol is the Radar Dish, and five of these in a winning combo are worth 4x. The A, P, O, L, and 7 comprise the non-premium symbols, which will all pay 2x for each winning combination of five symbols.
Staking options on Apollo 77 start at €0.25 and rise as high as €100.00. There are many different levels available between these extremes, so all real money players will be able to find a suitable selection here.
Apollo 77 Slot Base Game
Apollo 77 operates on a five-reel, three-row grid with 243 active payways. As that would suggest, there are no fixed paylines; just matching a minimum of three corresponding symbols from left to right, beginning on the leftmost reel, will result in a payout.
In-game Missions
At random, during any base game spin, a box may pop up with an in-game mission. These include tasks such as making a win with a specific symbol, landing a certain number of symbols anywhere on the screen, or winning a certain amount. These will all need to be completed within a set number of spins, and if completed successfully, the advertised payout for completion will be awarded.
Apollo 77 Slot Bonus Features
Landing a minimum of three scatter symbols will trigger the bonus game, awarding one life, whilst four scatters will give two lives, and five will award three. The bonus will last indefinitely until all lives are lost, and a life is lost each time the arrow lands on the Exit icon.
Bonus Game
At the centre of the screen, a drum will spin, and three symbols will be displayed. These can either be the same or different. The arrow will then spin around the outer display of planets, and if it lands on a planet featured in the drum, the value shown above that planet will be paid, and another spin will begin. If it lands on a planet not shown in the drum, no prize will be awarded, and the next spin will commence. If the arrow lands on a planet featured more than once in the centre drum, the relevant prize will be paid two or three times accordingly. The values of each planet are as follows: x2, x3, x5, x10, x20, x50, x100, and x250.
Spaceship Feature
To the bottom right side of the reels, an image of a spaceship that features the words Apollo 77 is displayed. At the start of play, these letters and numbers are unlit, but once there is any win on the reels that involves one of these characters, the respective character on the spaceship will be lit up. Any current progress in lighting these words will hold between spins, only resetting if the stake value is adjusted.
Once completely illuminated, the spaceship will take off, and a prize of between 1x and 100x will be awarded. Just above the 100x on the ladder of possible wins is a reward of 100x plus the super bonus. Reaching this point will award a payout of 100x the current stake value, plus the activation of the bonus game.
Bonus Buy
For those players within the relevant jurisdictions, the option to purchase both bonus variants is available. The cost of buying the bonuses directly is:
- Spaceship Feature – 30x.
- Bonus Game – 68.
Pros
- Two different bonus varieties.
- In game missions and collection feature.
- High RTP.
Cons
- Feels like it lacks any real big win potential.
- Bonus can be confusing.
Apollo 77 Slot Review Final Thoughts
There lot’s going on gameplay wise with Apollo 77. The base game is slightly dry on its own, but once you start looking out for the symbols required to activate the Spaceship feature, it becomes more engaging, and it's good to see that there are two different bonus types to shoot for. The inclusion of side missions during the base game is a welcome addition and something that you don’t often see, but the prizes to be won there are usually low value, which is a theme continued throughout the game, which just feels like it lacks any exciting potential. The opportunity to hit a larger win would appear to be held within the bonus game, with a top prize value of x250 on offer. However, seeing where the selector has stopped during that feature is very difficult, and the whole experience is generally confusing.
