Aztec Powernudge (Pragmatic Play) Slot Demo & Review

With over half a dozen Aztec themed games already available to try on our Pragmatic Play demo page, I think it’s safe to say the developer is well versed in creating slot games within this genre. The latest title to go under the microscope here at Demoslot is Aztec Powerpowernudge, a 6-reel slot that operates on the scatter pays mechanic, has an RTP of 96.46%, and a maximum win of 5,000x the bet.

There’s a good chance you’ll be familiar with how the Powernudge games work, as Aztec Powernudge is now the 5th game in the series. One of the most significant differences compared to previous releases is the inclusion of scatter pays, which at least makes it sound like it’s easier to win. We’ve got multipliers in the base game, too, that can reach values of up to 100x, but these are potentially even more valuable in the free spins bonus round as they have up to 1,000x attached to them. If the sound of those juicy multipliers sounds too good to resist, you can jump straight into the bonus feature courtesy of the feature buy option available to buy for 100x bet.

Pragmatic Play continues to pump out the games, and as always, we’re here as your free casino to let you play them all for free. So, whenever you’re ready, jump into our Aztec Powernudge demo slot; it’s free to play below.

Aztec Powernudge Slot Paytable

I mentioned in the intro that Pragmatic has already created several slots with the powernudge mechanic, so it is clearly an innovation that players have taken to. We’ve got the lot for you to try here on our site, but some notable recommendations within this genre to play are the Sugar Supreme Powernudge demo, the Coffee Wild Powernudge slot, and Goblin Heist Powernudge, all of which will showcase what these styles of slots have to offer. Although these are all great titles, I have a feeling that Aztec Powernudge could be the best yet. Let’s put my theory to the test and learn more about the game, with the perfect place to start being the pays section.

Rather than having to describe the usual characters associated with an Aztec theme, Pragmatic has opted for a gems as the premium paying symbols instead. So, sitting at the top of the paytable, we have the Red Gem worth 15x bet if 12 or more appear anywhere in view. This is followed by the Blue Gem at 5x, an Orange Gem paying 4x, the Green Gem at 2.5x, and finally, the Purple Gem at 2x. Unsurprisingly, the royal symbols make an appearance as the lower pays, with the Ace and King sharing returns of 1.5x bet and the Queen and Jack with equal payouts of 1x bet for winning combos of 12 or more.

Whether your pockets are bursting with virtual currency when you enter Aztec Powernudge or your balance is running on fumes, you’ll be guaranteed to find a stake to play at that is relatable to your bankroll. Those on a budget can choose to spin from a minimum of just €0.20, whilst those with cash to burn can roll the dice at up to €240 a press.

Aztec Powernudge Slot Base Game & Modifiers

Aztec Powernudge Slot Base Game
Aztec Powernudge slot base game

Aztec Powernudge utilises a 6×5 reel formation with 30 symbols dropping onto the playfield every spin. Players will be awarded a win when at least 8 matching symbols appear anywhere within the grid.

Multiplier Symbol

Multiplier symbols can appear in the base game and bonus round. Whenever these appear in the base, they carry a random value ranging from 5x – 100x. When the free spins feature is active, additional symbols may land with a value of 250x, 500x, or 1,000x.

Powernudge

Whenever a winning combination hits, the win is collected in a meter. The reels containing at least one winning symbol automatically nudge down one spot to reveal another symbol from the top. The win is collected again for all winning combinations on the screen, and the nudge feature ends only when there are no more winning combinations on the screen.

All multipliers from the multiplier symbols are also collected, and when there are no more nudges possible, the total win is multiplied by the total multiplier collected.

Aztec Powernudge Slot Bonus Features

The main bonus round on Aztec Powernuge is triggered by collecting 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 scatter symbols in one spin sequence of the base game, which will award 15, 20, 25, 30, or 35 free spins.

Free Spins Feature

The free spins bonus plays out the same as the base game, but as I previously mentioned, the multipliers now have the potential to award up to 1,000x. Players can win five extra spins if three scatters are collected in the meter, and a guaranteed win of at least 15x is in place during this round. If you’ve failed to win 15x after the last spin, more spins will be awarded.

Bonus Buy

Players who can access the bonus buy element of Aztec Powernudge can instantly trigger the free spins feature for 100x the current bet.

Pros

  • The addition of scatter pays makes it feel like it's easier to win.
  • Big multipliers are up for grabs in the base game and free spins.

Cons

  • With multipliers of 1,000x in play during the free spins, the 5,000x max win seems low.
  • Variable RTP models are offered.

Aztec Powernudge Slot Review Final Thoughts

I'm quite a fan of the Powernudge slots, and I thought that Sugar Supreme Powernudge was the best in the series to date. I've now changed my mind, though, and Aztec Powernudge has taken the top spot for me.This is mainly down to it being a scatter pays slot and having the big multipliers in play in both aspects of the game. I would have likely given this slot a much better score, but the max win of 5,000x when the feature can apply 1,000x to your total winnings is a sticking point, and to be honest a bit of a let down.
