I don’t know about anybody else, but my first thought when I see murky water isn’t to throw my hand in there and dig around for treasures! Fortunately, I happen to know that these particular murky waters have been thoroughly vetted – and seeded – with prizes of up to 10,000x the total bet! This is achieved using 14 fixed paylines (Hacksaw sure does love to use odd numbers of paylines), whilst the RTP can vary between 96.27% and 96.31%, depending on the game mode used.
The reels are decked out with two kinds of expanding wild multiplier symbols – the first of these are the sirens, which come in red and yellow varieties, and both expand upwards to the top of the reel where they land. Sirens can appear with multiplier values that range between 2x and 200x; should more than one siren be included on a single pay line, their values will be added together before being applied to your win. The ‘Down Below’ bonus game includes an additional set of expanding wild symbols – the Divers – which are not automatically removed after they feature in a winning pay line. More on those later! Beast Below Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Beasts, they come in all shapes and sizes. Play’N’Go like their beasts well done – their Beasts of Fire online slot includes everything from bears to cute-looking felines! If you don’t like beasts of the animal variety, you could still check out Relax Gaming’s Beast Mode; and if you don’t like slots at all, you could stick to watching Mr Beast on YouTube – but if that’s the case, what on earth are you doing here? In truth, Beast Below has a lot more in common with undersea slots such as Shark Frenzy than anything else, and whilst the theme is somewhat dark in nature, it’s certainly not in the same ‘mature’ category as your average No Limit City machine.
The paytable includes a single super high-paying symbol represented by an anchor that pays 20x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. There are five ‘beast’ symbols in the high-paying category – a shark with a third eye located on a tentacle (I told you to stay away from that murky water, didn’t I?) with a payout of 10x for all five symbols, followed by something that resembles the plant from Little Shop of Horrors and a piranha, both of which share equal returns of 7.5x for a complete payline. The final two high-paying symbols include what appears to be a mutated shark and one of those fish that tries to blow itself up to look more intimidating to its predators, both paying 5x the current stake for a five of a kind combination. That just leaves the five low-paying symbols represented by highly stylised royals with payouts ranging between 2x and 3x for all five symbols.
As with previous Hacksaw slots, Beast Below offers a wider-than-average betting range with minimum/maximum limits of €0.10 and €100.00 per spin, respectively. There are plenty of other bets allowed between the two limits as well, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding a suitable wager.
Base Game & Modifiers
Hacksaw’s Beast Below utilises a five-reel, four-row playfield spanned by an unusual 14 fixed paylines. That’s not a lot of lines for a game with an enlarged reel set, but the expanding and stacked wild symbols do help to ensure that you won’t be faced with an endless sequence of nothing but dead spins. Winning combinations require at least three matching symbols on a pay line starting from the leftmost reel, except for the highest-paying anchor symbol, which only awards a prize for a five-symbol combination.
Expanding Sirens
The siren is a wild symbol that will expand upwards to the top of the reel, where it lands each time they appear on the playfield. Each expanded siren symbol has a multiplier value that is applied to any winning combinations that the symbol forms a part of; this value is selected at random from the following range: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x.
Beast Below Slot Bonus Features
There are two main bonus rounds included in Beast Below – three scatter symbols will trigger The Sirens Call Bonus Game with ten free spins, whilst four scatters will reward you with the more generous Down Below Bonus Game – also with ten free spins.
The Sirens Call Free Spins
In this mode, the odds of hitting an expanding siren symbol are significantly increased over those offered by the base game. The bonus also includes an additional pink siren symbol, which will stay in place after it lands before nudging upwards by one position on every subsequent free spin. The pink siren can appear with the same 2x – 200x multipliers as its yellow cousin.
If two free spin symbols land whilst the bonus is active, the game will add two more free spins to your remaining total, whilst three symbols will award four extra free spins.
Down Below Free Spins
This is the most generous of the bonus features available in Beast Below and awards ten free spins with reels that include a new expanding Diver symbol. These symbols behave similarly to the siren symbols we have already discussed but also begin life with three oxygen charges. The diver symbol will use one oxygen charge each time it forms part of a winning combination and will only be removed from the reels once its charges have been fully depleted.
Bonus Buy
The bonus buy menu includes four options:
- Bonus Hunt Featurespins (3x Bet) – Each spin is 5x more likely to trigger a bonus round.

Final Thoughts
I’m typically a big fan of Hacksaw’s slot releases, and I did enjoy testing out Beast Below despite it feeling a little less unique than this developer’s typical output. Nevertheless, a big jackpot and two great bonus rounds should still be more than enough to ensure that this game finds a reasonably-sized audience.
