Game Overview
The partnership between Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom has produced some of the most played slots on our website, so we are always excited to see a game released where they have collaborated once again. In today’s review, we are looking at another slot in the Big Bass series of games, with the developers opting for the name Big Bass Splash in this particular title. As for the stats, this is a 5-reel slot with 10 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96.71%, and a maximum win of 5,000x bet.
You might wonder what could be new with a game that has already had its fair share of sequels in the past; I know I did. Well, there’s a much brighter and fresh design to the game, which gives it a good start, and there are a few new modifiers, too. These include a base game mod that can give you a respin of the reels and a second chance to trigger the main feature. However, the most significant change comes to the free spins, where up to 5 special modifiers can be applied to your bonus before the action begins.
Sound good so far? Then why not take a more detailed look into the game in our complete and informative review? If you’d rather jump aboard and head straight to the action, you can try some spins on our free demo slot of Big Bass Splash below.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Both Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play have enjoyed a high level of success from their collection of Big Bass slots, with the original Big Bass Bonanza and Big Bass Megaways proving to be popular choices with online slot players here on our website. The increased interest in these games didn’t go unnoticed, however, leading to rival providers developing clones of this slot style, which you can see over on our dedicated page to fishing slots.
Turning our focus to the paytable, we’ll kick things off with the highest paying symbol, the Monster Truck, which pays 200x bet for a five of a kind win. Next, we have the Fishing Rod valued at 100x if all five hit on a payline, followed by the Fly and Tackle Box, which will pay 50x for a completed line of five. Finally, with regard to the premium pays, there’s the Shoal of Fish, paying 20x for a full line of five. Moving onto the low pays, we have five royal symbols, the Ace and King, paying 10x for lines of five and lastly, the Queen, Jack and Ten, all paying 5x the bet for a five-of-a-kind hit. Big Bass Splash also comes with a Wild symbol, represented by the fisherman. As well as substituting for all other in-game symbols, he doubles up as the scatter symbol.
Although you might be keen to cast your line out into the water, you’ll first need to select a playing stake before you can play Big Bass Splash. These start at a very low-roller-friendly €0.10 a spin before progressing to a huge €100 a play.
Base Game & Modifiers
Fishing in the deep sea on Big Bass Splash will present you with a 5×3 reel format to play upon. It’s across this interface that you’ll find 10 fixed paylines in play, and to create a winning combination, you’ll need to land 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel first. These symbols will also need to be on one of the active winlines for the corresponding pay to be added to your balance.
Respin Chance
If two scatter symbols land in view during your play in the base game on Big Bass Splash, then there is a chance that a respin can be awarded. These two scatters must then be able to move down one position without leaving the reel area. If they can, they may randomly perform that action and be held in place before the remaining reels spin in search of a 3rd scatter to trigger the bonus. Furthermore, a hook may randomly appear and pull a 3rd scatter onto the playfield.
Big Bass Splash Bonus Features
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols in view will trigger the bonus feature on Big Bass Splash and award 10, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. Upon activating the feature, we see the most significant change made to the game compared to those released before it. This is the addition of the random modifiers that can be added to your feature, with 0 – 5 of the following being awarded.
- More Fish: Extra fish with cash values will be added to the reels.
- More Fishermen: There will be more collector fishermen added to the reels.
- More Dynamites, Hooks, and Bazookas: The chance to hit any of these modifiers will increase
- Start from Level 2: Begin the bonus from the 2nd stage of the progression meter.
- +2 Spins: Start the feature with 2 extra spins.
Free Spins Feature
As the free spins feature gets underway in Big Bass Splash, you want to see the fish with cash values land on the reels simultaneously with the fisherman. If this occurs, the fisherman will collect all values and add them to your winnings. It should be noted that several fishermen can land at once and collect the cash values multiple times.
In addition to our friendly angler reeling in the wins for us, he will also move you one position along the progression meter each time he appears. Every 4th fisherman you collect will award 10 extra free spins and increase the size of your win multiplier, which can reach up to x10.
Dynamites, Hooks & Bazookas
Three different modifiers can trigger during the free spins on Big Bass Splash, and they are as follows:
- Dynamite: At the end of a spin, if a fisherman is in view, but there are no cash values, then the dynamite modifier can trigger. This will blow up the reels to reveal a random amount of fish symbols bearing cash values.
- Hook: If there are fish on the screen but no fisherman, then the hook modifier can trigger to pull up a fisherman from the bottom of the reels.
- Bazooka: When there is a fisherman on the screen but no fish, the bazooka may activate to blow all other reel symbols into new ones.
Bonus Buy
Those players who can activate the bonus buy feature on Big Bass Splash can gain instant access to the free spins bonus if they wish. This will come at the cost of 100x the current bet.
Pros
- Well-liked and popular franchise.
- The overall development of the game is fantastic.
- The Big Bass Splash RTP of 96.71% is above the average.
Cons
- Low max win of 3,333x bet.
Big Bass Splash Slot Review Final Thoughts
Pragmatic Play is undoubtedly getting the most out of the Big Bass franchise, that is for sure, but in fairness, this latest release, Big Bass Splash, is a good upgrade on the games that have come before it. I particularly like the pre-free spin modifiers, which can give you a little boost and a glimmer of hope of reaching the 10x win multiplier. Will this be the last we see of Big Bass? I'm not so sure about that, but this is a slot I would recommend that you play.

I literally just played this and had nine bonuses. Eight of them picked the boot up straight away, and all of them failed to get past the first round. Seriously thinking of changing this from an 8/10 to a five. What’s the actual point of some of these games when the bonuses are so bad every time.
