The fact that there is any payout at all for just two symbols seems quite generous, considering the stacked wild symbols, though it is disappointing that the remaining picture symbols max out at just 3.2x your stake for a line of six.
As for the betting range, Thunderkick seem to have a policy in this regard as all of their games allow you to bet from as little as €0.10 cents per spin if you want to. The game supports an upper limit of €100.00 per spin, which should be more than enough for even the highest of high rollers.
Base Game & Modifiers
I expected a rolling reels or cascading symbols type feature to be an integral part of the base game in Big Fin Bay, but sadly Thunderkick chose not to include anything like that here – even during the free spins, in spite of the maximum 117,649 number of payways.
That’s not to say there are no modifiers here, however, but the bonus game is definitely a whole lot more exciting than the base game regardless of their inclusion.
Expanding Wild Feature
Each time a wild forms part of a winning combination, it will expand to cover the remainder of the reel it landed on. Sometimes there might be four symbols on that reel, multiplying your win by four. On other occasions, it can vary anywhere from two to six symbols. When wilds occur on multiple reels at once, it is possible to score very large numbers of winning combinations from a single spin.
Mystery Wild Feature
Full stacks of wild symbols are what all slot players hope to see, so the expanding wild feature mentioned previously can be a godsend at times. The Big Fin Bay video slot adds even further stacked wild possibilities by means of a mystery wild feature, which can activate at the beginning of any base game spin and add between one and three full wild reels without even needing to catch any expanding wilds.
The only downside is that this is a six-reel game, so Thunderkick could have been a little more generous by making it possible for more than three reels to turn wild. No scatters can land during this feature, but if you should happen to land a single wild on the other three reels, a full screen, and a payout of over 10,000x your stake is yours.

The free spins feature is triggered when a scatter lands on at least three reels at once. When this happens, the scatter symbols will divide up and award a random number of free spins. Reel Expansion Feature
During the bonus game, a wild landing on any reel will expand just as it does in the base game. I’ve loved many of Thunderkick’s creations over the years and feared that they had jumped on the Megaways train with everybody else when I saw that elusive 117,649 number advertised alongside this slot. I was pleasantly surprised. Their Big Fin Bay video slot is much more interesting than any of the Extra Chili clones that Blueprint and the like are pumping out month after month. If only there had been a little space left in the math model for some cascading reels action during the free spins, this one might have been their best creation to date.
