Blood Suckers Megaways Slot (Red Tiger Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

I was a tad confused when I first saw that Red Tiger was responsible for the incarnation of Blood Suckers Megaways – the original game was a NetEnt property, after all. I guess that Red Tiger has licensed both the Bloodsuckers brand from NetEnt and the Megaways payout mechanic from Big Time Gaming, but if that’s true, how much profit can be left for them, considering that this slot has a well above-average RTP of 97.66%? The mind boggles! Better yet, this game combines the traditional 117.649 Megaways with a top win of 20,521.9x your bet – far, far in excess of what was possible in the original game.

Red Tiger has also spiced things up significantly on the feature front, starting with some wild-based modifiers. The first of these can add between two and ten wild symbols randomly on reels two through five, while the second may create one or two “super wilds” which cover entire reel stacks. There’s also a scatter-boost modifier to increase your chances of triggering the main bonus round, a multiplier modifier with the ability to boost your winnings by up to 5x, and a free spins picker bonus offering up to five picks depending on the number of triggering scatters. Finally, a bonus buy facility is offered with four options to choose from, all ensuring that you won’t be tiring of this machine any time soon!

First impressions suggest that this is an awesome way to update an ageing property – if I were NetEnt, I would undoubtedly be impressed with what Red Tiger has achieved here! Check it out for yourself with our free demo slot of Blood Suckers Megaways – available to play below.

Blood Suckers Megaways Slot Paytable
Blood Suckers Megaways slot paytable

This isn’t the first Bloodsuckers sequel by any means, but NetEnt’s own Bloodsuckers 2 was not as well received by the slot playing public as their first effort. This is a vampire-themed franchise, in case the name didn’t give that away, so the reels are packed with ghoulish characters, blood-soaked weaponry, and endless, endless… stacks of garlic? Well, yes, we are certainly going to be needing plenty of that if we are going to fight the hordes of darkness, after all! Let’s just hope the legends are true, as I think I would have preferred a gun packed with silver bullets, personally…

As we know by now, Megaways slots don’t usually have the most impressive paytables, instead focusing on awarding big wins via large numbers of winning payways instead. With that short disclaimer out of the way, the highest-paying symbol on the paytable is the green bandana-wearing vampire who will pay you 3x your bet for a complete payway of six of a kind. The purple vampire – complete with a champagne flute full of blood – will pay you 1.5x your bet for all six symbols, whilst the red alien-like vampire drops to 1.2x the bet. Two females complete the high-paying symbol line-up with payouts of 0.9x and 0.8x for a six-of-a-kind winning combination. The low-paying symbols include a bible and cross, a dagger, a crossbow, and the aforementioned garlic clove, and these will pay you anywhere from 0.4x to 0.6x your bet for all six symbols.

The betting range is surprisingly limited for a top-tier online slot; the minimum wager of €0.10 is fine, but the maximum of just €4.00 per spin is likely to be a limiting factor for some players with larger bankrolls. Some casinos may offer bigger bets than this, but for the time being, this is just speculation.

Base Game & Modifiers

Blood Suckers Megaways Slot Base Game
Blood Suckers Megaways slot base game

Red Tiger hasn’t bothered with the horizontal reel common to so many other Megaways games for Bloodsuckers Megaways, offering six reels of up to seven rows instead. This results in the same maximum number of payways, meaning you still get up to 117,649 Megaways on every single spin. More importantly, the developer has added a stack of modifiers that make the base game much more fun than some of the other Megaways slots I reviewed recently.

Random Wilds Modifier

A coffin may appear randomly on any spin; killing the vampire inside will add between two and ten random wilds to reels two through five.

Bonus Scatter Modifier

A coffin may appear randomly on any spin; killing the vampire inside will add between two and four bonus scatter symbols to the reels, potentially awarding you a free spin bonus round immediately.

Super Wilds Modifier

Once again, another coffin may appear – vampire inside, of course – kill the vampire, and either one or two super wilds will be added to the middle four reels. The super wild is a full reel stacked wild, so landing two will likely ensure you win on multiple payways simultaneously.

Wins Multiplier Modifier

The final modifier works just like the previous three – kill the vampire and be rewarded with a winnings boost of between 2x and 5x. It’s not as great as it sounds, though, because, unlike the other modifiers, this one also relies on you hitting a good win on the current spin.

Blood Suckers Megaways Slot Bonus Features

Blood Suckers Megaways Slot Free Spins Feature

So the base game is packed with features – does that mean that the main bonus round suffers? Actually no! This free spin feature reminds me a lot of the one in NetEnt’s “Secret of the Stones”, where you would pick from a bunch of stones to determine the enhancements that will feature in the bonus round.

Free Spins

You will be offered the chance to pick a coffin for every triggering scatter. The enhancements available inside the coffins mirror the modifiers available during the bonus game, as well as a few extra free spins to top up the five that the game initially awards you.

The modifiers contained in the coffins will stay active for the duration of the free spins round, so a five-scatter trigger with some lucky coffin picks is likely to be highly profitable. I even managed to win around 800x my bet just in the short time I tested this machine, which is an amazing result!

Bonus Buy

If these features are permitted within your country or jurisdiction, there will be four options on the bonus buy menu:

  • Feature Coffin: For 10x the current stake, you can guarantee that one of the four base game modifiers will activate on the next spin.
  • Free Spins with 3 Picks Guaranteed: The first of the three main bonus buy options costs 150x the current stake and gives you three picks from the coffins, identical to a three-scatter trigger.
  • Free Spins with 4 Picks Guaranteed: If you want to open four coffins, you may do so for a cost of 500x the current stake. That’s a big jump in my eyes for relatively little assurance of a drastic increase in profitability. Be careful with this one!
  • Free Spins with 5 Picks Guaranteed: Finally, if you are willing to pay an eye-watering sum of 1,000x the current bet, you can purchase a five-scatter trigger with five picks from the bonus coffins. This is a big ask, but it may just be worth it – if I was going to spend 500x, I think I would probably go the extra mile and go for this option instead.

Blood Suckers Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts

This is everything that the second Bloodsuckers game should have been – packed with action, a massive RTP and top win, fantastic presentation; it really does tick all the boxes. Don’t miss this one.
