Bones & Bounty (Thunderkick) Slot Demo & Review

Shiver me timbers, pieces of eight, walk the plank matey, yes, we all know the drill and the lingo of the high seas when it comes down to a pirate-themed slot. So in today’s review, we’re setting sail with provider Thunderkick and their Bones & Bounty slot, where we hope to see treasure aplenty and not a scrap of sauerkraut in sight. Hoisting up the in-game stats, we discover this is a 6-reel slot with 4,096 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96.16%, and a maximum win of 25,000x bet.

Along with this looking like a fantastic game so far at face value, we’ve got some features to tell you about too. There’s the Stacked Respins Wild to begin with, which will stick in place when it lands, causing all other reels to respin for more chances to win. If another Stacked Wild hits, the reels will spin again. Taking the headlines in the Bones & Bounty slot though, is the Cash Bonus Game, triggered when three scatters fill the meter. During this round, a special set of reels comes into play where multiplier and persistent symbols can land to help generate massive wins.

We know you probably think you’ve seen it all before on previously released pirate slots, but Thunderkick’s effort does look to be quite an interesting game. Give it a try for yourself in our free Bones & Bounty slot demo, available to play below.

Bones & Bounty Paytable

When Thunderkick’s Bones & Bounty slot made its way over to my in-tray today, it actually got me thinking that game providers have left the pirate niche of slots alone for quite a while. This could have something to do with the meteoric rise of Fishing Slots in recent times, so I guess all of the resources are currently being put into something else. If you did want to dress up as Jack Sparrow or Captain Hook and play a few oldies though, there’s Pragmatic Play’s Pirates Pub to take a look at or Elk Studios Dead Mans Gold, which scored itself a tidy 7.6 out of 10 here on Demoslot.

Let’s get the party started on today’s review though, by heading over to the paytable, where we find the highest paying symbol is the Pirate, who is worth 10x bet for a six of a kind win. He’s followed by the Compass at 7x bet, a Telescope at 6.5x, the Egg Timer at 5.5x, and the final premium paying symbol, the map, valued at 4.2x for a winning line of six. Sliding down to the low pays, we have the industry-standard royal symbols with the Ace paying 3.2x, the King valued at 3x, a Queen at 2.8x, followed by the Jack worth 2.2x, the Ten at 1.8x, and finally, we have the Nine, paying 1.5x for a six of a kind hit. The slot also includes wild symbols, which unfortunately do not carry a monetary win but will substitute for all regular symbols.

Onto the staking structure of the Bones & Bounty slot, and whilst there may not be a huge amount of options available to players that you find on some other games, surprisingly, they seem to have covered pretty much every style of punter that is likely to encounter this game. As for the minimum and maximum wagering limits then, these come in at €0.10 and €100, respectively.

Bones & Bounty Slot Base Game

Bones & Bounty Base Game
Bones & Bounty base game

The Bones & Bounty slot is a 4,096 payway game played across a reel matrix of 6×4. Players will be awarded a win when at least three matching symbols (or two if it’s the pirate) land on adjacent reels beginning from the leftmost reel first.

Stacked Respin Wilds

The Stacked Respin Wilds symbol can land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 during any spin and occupy between 2 – 5 positions. If one of these symbols hits, it will lock into place, and all other reels will respin. This feature can continue as long as a new Stacked Wild hits on every new respin awarded.

Bones & Bounty Slot Bonus Features

Bones & Bounty Bonus Feature
Bones & Bounty bonus feature

The main feature in Bones & Bounty is the Cash Game, triggered when the bonus meter is filled with 3 bonus symbols. When the Cash Bonus game starts, ordinary reels are replaced with special reels containing Cash Coin symbols with different bet multiplier values.

Cash Game

The Cash Game begins with 3 free spins. After each spin, if new symbols land on an empty position, the free spins are reset back to 3, and a shift is triggered, causing all current symbols to move one position to the right. Additionally, there is now a Ghost Reel in play positioned at the end of the 6 special reels with a starting multiplier of x2. Any symbols that reach the Ghost Reel are multiplied by the value of the reel and moved back to a random position in the playfield. If a Cash Coin lands on another Cash Coin, their values are added together.

If a Multiplier Cash Symbol lands, it will upgrade the Ghost Reel value and transform into a Cash Coin. Any Persistent Payer symbols that reach the Ghost Reel increase all cash symbols by their value. Once your spin count reaches zero, the bonus round will end.

Bonus Buy

If you’d prefer to skip the base game and the bonus buy option is available from your location, then you can access the free spins at a cost of 100x the current bet.

Pros

  • It is a break from the norm of cartoon-styled pirate slots that most providers opt for.
  • The maximum win of 25,000x.
  • It's a fun-filled bonus round that has the potential to excite.

Cons

  • Like most Thunderkick slots, the bonus round will inevitably be all or nothing, with very little in between.

Bones & Bounty Slot Review Final Thoughts

It was a nice surprise to see Thunderkick's Bones & Bounty slot opt for a ghost theme in the pirate niche rather than just plastering cartoon characters all over the place like we've seen a million times before. The bonus round is lots of fun, too, and if you can build up a decent multiplier on the Ghost Reel, then you'll at least be giving yourself a shot at getting somewhere near that huge jackpot. It was great to see an actual base game modifier that can pay a bit, too, and if you're lucky enough to get even a couple of stacked wilds active, you could be in for a payday.Overall, I'd recommend giving this game a try. It's fantastic work from Thunderkick and probably one of the best releases I've enjoyed since Pink Elephants and even the legendary Flamebusters from back in the day.
