Book of Gods (BF Games) Slot Demo & Review

Squint while looking at the logo of the Book of Gods slot logo, and what do you see? Heck, you don’t even need to squint to see what’s in play here. BF Games is not even trying to hide the fact they’ve created Book of Gods to look and play like one of (if not the) most successful online slots of all time, Book of Dead from Play’n Go. The similarities continue when the reels appear for the first time, and even the features are practically identical. It does have a bonus buy feature, at least, so there is something different. Book of Gods from BF Games is a 5×3 slot with 10-fixed paylines, a 96.12% RTP, and a 5,015x maximum win.

To be fair, they’re not the first and will not be the last developer to try something like this. Heck, the Book of Dead itself is a direct clone of the Book of Ra. The slot is obviously designed to attract spins from people believing they’re playing Book of Dead or have mistaken it for that slot. That said, if you’re a fan of these ‘Book’ slots and can look past the similarities, this might prove worthy of a look.

Book of Gods Slot paytable

The number of ‘Book of’ slot releases is thankfully slowing down now, but a few years back, it wasn’t uncommon to see one or two new ‘Book’ slots released every single week. All the developers were getting in on it in an attempt to hang on to the coattails of the success of Play’n Go’s Book of Dead. I don’t want to reel off a list of them, as you’ll find dozens by typing the term into our search bar or even more by doing the same at your chosen online casino. I would, however, like to mention my favourite, purely because it pokes fun at the whole ‘Book of’ trend. That is Peter & Son’s hilariously titled slot, Book of Books, a 40-payline game with a 10,000x maximum win.

In the Book of Gods paytable, it is no surprise to see the Explorer as the top-paying symbol, who will return 500x for a 5-symbol combination. The Pharoah comes next and has a top return of 200x, whilst Anubis and the Scarab Beetle symbols are worth up to 75x. The playing cards are where the low pays come from, with the Ace and King delivering top wins of 15x and the Queen and Jack delivering up to 10x. The Scatter/Wild also pays anywhere in view to the tune of 200x the stake for a 5-symbol combo.

Book of Gods has a wide betting range, with minimum/maximum bets of €0.10 and €100.00, respectively. You can choose from 16 stakes in total, so whether you’re playing with a small budget or have cash to burn, there will be a bet size that fits your bankroll.

Book of Gods slot base game

Book of Gods Slot base game

Book of Gods uses a 5×3 reel configuration that offers 10 fixed paylines for players to land winning combinations. These combos are created when two or more of the premium symbols or three or more low-value symbols form across a pay line from left to right.

Scatter/Wild Symbol

Just like the Book of Dead, Book of Ra, and the many other ‘Book of’ slots on the market, the Scatter symbol doubles up as a wild symbol on the Book of Gods slot. It pays up to 200x the stake when landed three or more times anywhere in view, is the symbol needed to trigger the free spins bonus, and substitutes for regular symbols when winning combinations are possible.

Gamble Feature

After every win, including the total won from the free spins bonus, you can use the gamble feature to gamble for more. It is a 50/50 game involving guessing the colour of a playing card. If you win, you double your winnings; if you lose, everything won before is lost. You can gamble up to 4 times maximum.

Book of Gods slot bonus features

Book of Gods Slot
Book of Gods Slot free spins feature

Three or more scatter symbols landing in view during the base game will trigger the main bonus round on Book of Gods, which awards 10 free spins to start the feature with.

Free Spins Feature

Before the bonus round begins, one regular symbol is chosen randomly, and it will become an expanding symbol that pays via a scatter-pays-like mechanic. It will expand to fill its reel and payout for combinations even if there are gaps between the symbols. Landing three or more scatter symbols on the same spin during the bonus will re-trigger the 10 free spins.

Bonus Buy

Via the bonus buy feature, you can skip all of the base game and purchase the free spins bonus for 90x your current stake.

Pros

  • It has a bonus buy feature, something Book of Dead doesn't.

Cons

  • It’s yet another Book of Dead clone to join countless others.

Book of Gods Slot Review Final Thoughts

There are a few differences between Book of Gods and Play’n Go’s Book of Dead slot, such as a buy bonus feature and a higher RTP. However, let’s not pretend that a big chunk of the original hasn't been borrowed here. The slot even looks like the original, starting with its logo to the symbols, its backdrop, and the theme. If you can ignore that, there is a good slot here, but surely it’s only worth playing if your online casino does not have Book of Dead.
