Book Of Inferno Slot (Quickspin) Slot Demo & Review

I can’t help but feel tempted to mock the title of Quickspin’s new Book of Inferno online slot; just how many slots are we going to get titled Book of…? The only problem is, it’s only been a few weeks since I last had a rant about that subject in a different game review! Titles aren’t that big a deal either, if I’m truly honest, as long as a game has something new to offer, so let’s check out the developer’s brief: “Book of Inferno is a 10-line game with expanding pay anywhere symbols.” Hmmm, sounds a little familiar! However, the maximum win of 5,846x the player’s stake sure sounds better than some similarly named slots, and the RTP of 96.65% is also well above average.

The basic outline of Book of Inferno makes the game sound much like any other Book of Dead clone, but there’s actually a lot more to this machine than meets the eye. In this game, the expanding pay anywhere symbol – referred to as the marked symbol – is active during the base game and the bonus round. Hitting one or more books will upgrade the current marked symbol by one step, although the term ‘upgrade’ may be a little deceiving as higher-value symbols appear much less frequently. Book of Dead didn’t include a bonus buy facility either, so it’s nice to see that Quickspin has added one to Book of Inferno.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with this game so far; why not give it a try for yourself with our free demo slot of Book of Inferno?

Book Of Inferno Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Book Of Inferno Slot Paytable
Book of Inferno slot paytable

The backgrounds and symbols featured in Book of Inferno have a unique comic book style look to them. The high-paying character symbols are all named on the paytable; there’s Anna the Demon Huntress, Lord of Hell, Lady of Hell, and Commander of Hell. The presentation is top-notch, and the character symbols are all super well drawn without looking quite as dark and terrifying as those featured in Skywind’s Dance with the Devil online slot!

The highest-paying symbol is the book, returning 200x the current bet whenever five appear anywhere on the reel set. The book also acts as the game’s wild symbol, just as with most other ‘Book of…’ slots and will pay 500x the bet if you happen to land the five symbols on one of the game’s ten paylines. Anna, the Demon Huntress, is also worth 500x for a full payline of five of a kind, whilst the Lord of Hell has a return of 160x for all five symbols. The final two high-paying symbols, the Lady of Hell and the Commander of Hell, both share a payout of 75x for a complete payline. As for the low-paying symbols, the Ace, King, and Queen all return 12x for all five, whilst the Ten, Jack, and Nine are worth 8x.

Book of Inferno has a wide betting range with minimum/maximum bets of €0.10 and €100.00, respectively. The only issue is that only a handful of intermediate bets are available between these two limits, which seems to be a common problem with some modern online slots.

Base Game & Modifiers

Book Of Inferno Slot Base Game
Book of Inferno slot base game

The base game of Book of Inferno uses a standard five reel, three row playfield spanned by ten fixed paylines. The book symbol will award a win whenever at least two of them appear anywhere on the reel set, whilst the rest of the symbols require at least three items on one of the game’s paylines. The special marked symbol modifier can activate randomly at the start of any base game spin:

Marked Symbol Modifier

If one of the symbols appears on top of the main reel set before a base game spin, this means that the symbol is marked for the current spin. Marked symbols appear with a special border around them, as well as being easily identified from the symbol meter displayed at the top of the reel set.

Any time a marked symbol lands (if there are enough of them to pay), they will expand to cover the entire reel. Marked symbols will pay anywhere without needing to appear on adjacent reels from left to right.

If a book lands simultaneously as a marked symbol, it will upgrade the currently marked symbol by one step. This can potentially award further expansions and, therefore, winnings.

Book Of Inferno Slot Bonus Features

Book Of Inferno Slot Free Spins Feature

Three books will award ten free spins along with 2x the current bet, whilst four will grant you 15 free spins and 20x your bet. If all five books appear simultaneously, the game will award 25 free spins and a bonus prize of 200x the current stake.

Free Spins

At the beginning of the free spins feature, a random symbol is selected from the paytable to act as the marked symbol. From this point on, the marked symbol works just as it does during the base game – see the ‘Marked Symbol Modifier’ section above for full details.

The free spins feature can also be re-triggered by hitting three or more books whilst the bonus is in play. Books award the same number of extra free spins when re-triggered as they do during the base game.

If the marked symbol is upgraded past the end of the meter during the free spins, the lowest-value symbol on the reels will be converted into the highest-paying symbol instead.

Bonus Buy

If you find yourself becoming tired of the base game, why not purchase yourself a bonus round? The cost to buy a set of free spins is somewhere in the middle of the road at 125x the normal price per spin. The number of triggering scatter symbols is determined randomly after purchasing a feature, with the same odds as when triggering it by chance.

Book Of Inferno Slot Review Final Thoughts

I love the look of this game, and the marked symbol modifier makes it feel a lot more unique than it really is. If you’ve already grown tired of Book of Dead, this game probably won’t interest you, but for everybody else, I’d say it’s definitely worth a little playtime during your next session.
