Game Overview
I know what you’re thinking – I’ve forgotten to insert part of the title, haven’t I? Oh, silly me! Except no, I haven’t! The world’s a funny old place at times, isn’t it? And it seems I’m not the only one who finds the craze for creating slots named ‘Book of…’ to be ridiculous (and slightly hilarious), as the guys over at Arcadem really did name their new game Book of Insert Name Here! Like many other ‘book’ slots, this is a ten-liner, but it boasts a slightly larger maximum win of 6,033x the total bet compared to Play’N’Go’s Book of Dead at 5,000x. Admittedly, the RTP of 95.06% is a little lower than I’d like, but what’s a few percentage points between friends when William Shakespeare is trapped in a library? We must get him out!
How will we do this? Ah, well, the most effective method would be to enable the ‘First Edition’ enhanced spins, which will increase your stake by 10x but will also enable the special expanding symbol feature in the base game too! If your bankroll doesn’t stretch that far, don’t worry… there’s always the re-print! The 2nd Edition Free Spins are triggered by hitting three book scatters on reels one, three, and five, and still enable you to select your preferred expanding symbol – will you pick a low-paying one for better chances of several full-screen wins? Or will you go for the jackpot by picking a rare symbol and hoping to get lucky? The choice is yours! A bonus buy facility is also available for 100x the total bet if you want to head straight to the action.
Come on, guys, you know you can’t resist trying a game with a title like this! So go ahead and fire up our free demo slot of Book of Insert Book Name Here below! That was the title, right? If not, it’s the one I inserted, so I’m calling it valid!
Book Of Insert Name Here Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Are you a bookworm? I’ve read more than my fair share over the years, but just like Jeremy from Peep Show, I’d probably say that Mr Nice is my favourite! Only kidding; I have a strange fascination with serial killer books for some reason, though; there’s a great one on the Zodiac that’s well worth a read, as well as plenty based on Jack the Ripper. Those aren’t the books we’re here to discuss, though – what about classics like Book of Adventure? Or that timeless Book of Cleopatra? Nah, forget those. Stick to reading Book of Books. Better yet, kick back, relax and read up on what Arcadem has to offer in this popular niche of online slot.
So, who have we got on the Book of [Insert Name Here] paytable? Well, I already mentioned that William Shakespeare is in there, and he’s the most valuable symbol with a return of 500x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. However, Mary Shelly got a bit of a raw deal with her return – only 200x for this distinguished female author. Be kind, Arcadem! Still, she did better than Charles Dickens, who’s only worth 75x for all five of his symbols. Jane Austen gets the final high-paying spot, also at 75x, but she’s on the back of the new British tenner, so she’s had her fifteen minutes of fame now anyway! As for the low pays, these have been divided into two groups, with five Aces or Kings getting you 15x your bet, whilst five Queens, Jacks, or Tens are worth slightly less at 10x each.
The standard betting range runs between €0.10 and €40.00 per spin – the minimum may be a little high for some players, which is a shame. With the first edition, enhanced spins mode turned on, these numbers increase to eye-watering figures of €10.00 and €400 per spin, respectively – you don’t want to be returning your books late to this library, that’s for sure!
Base Game & Modifiers
If you’ve ever played a book slot before – and come on, there can’t be many players who haven’t by now – you’ll know pretty much what to expect here. The game uses a standard 5×3 video slot layout, there are ten paylines, and the high-paying symbols have small payouts for two symbols, whilst everything else requires at least three.
One key difference here, though, is that all five reels include standard wild symbols – the books don’t act as both wilds and scatters in this game, unfortunately.
Enhanced Spins Bonus Bet
Upon selecting the 1st Edition Enhanced Spins mode, the price of all base game spins will shoot up by 10x. In addition to increasing your odds of triggering a bonus round, this mode will also enable the special expanding symbol feature during the base game.
Additionally, if the special expanding symbol appears twice on the same reel, it will automatically spread to the next reel across – this makes it much easier to win big during the base game, arguably even more so than during the free spins!
Book Of Insert Name Here Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatter symbols appear on reels one, three, and five only, and you’ll need all three of these to land simultaneously to trigger yourself a set of free spins.
2nd Edition Free Spins
Before the free spins feature begins, you’ll be given the option of selecting your special expanding symbol for the current bonus round. This is much preferable in my view to it being randomly chosen as it is in titles like Book of Dead.
This feature also comes with the same spreading expanding symbol feature as the 1st Edition mode, meaning that if two expanding symbols land on consecutive rows, they will expand onto an additional reel resulting in larger payouts.
Bonus Buy Feature
For 100x the normal price per spin, you can skip the base game and go directly to the free spins feature. That seems a fair price to me, and I’d definitely take advantage of this if I were lucky enough to live in a jurisdiction where such features were permitted!
Pros
- Amazing name. I mean, who could possibly have come up with a name like Book of Demoslot? Classic.
- The spreading expanding symbol feature is a great addition to the standard ‘book’ gameplay.
- Enhanced spins mode is excellent– but much too expensive for my blood.
Cons
- Overused theme, but I guess that's the point, right?
Final Thoughts
I love the twisted library theme of Book of [Insert Name Here], and the little story on the rules page adds another little touch of humour that goes a long way with me! The top win could be a little bigger, as could the RTP, but all things considered, this is a solid release for Arcadem that definitely deserves your attention. Now if only I could remember what it was called!
