Pros

  • Players can choose to gamble both their free spins and collection symbol.
  • There's the potential to have a full-screen symbol in play.
  • Great RTP if the max option is used.

Cons

  • It might be down to the game's mechanics, but you'd expect a grid slot of that size to include cascading reels.
  • When there's the chance of full-screen symbols, you may have thought the max win would be at least 10,000x.

Book of Monsters Slot Review Final Thoughts

I'm almost sure that, just like me, you were expecting this game to be very different when you opened it up and to see a classic "book of" slot staring back at you. Praise the lord, that isn't the case at all, and instead, Pragmatic Play has developed a huge grid slot for us to enjoy, with some rather friendly-looking monsters.

It's not the kind of grid slot you think, though, as there are no cascading reels present or any type of base game modifier at all, come to think of it. Yes, all the excitement is reserved for the bonus round, where you're initially awarded your free spins and collector expanding symbol before being given the chance to gamble both for more. Beware, though; losing either of the gambles will result in the end of the feature and require you to trigger it or buy it again.

Once the free spins begin, it's all about collecting as many of your symbols as possible. If you hit enough and fill the collector meter, you'll receive up to 3 extra spins, with the symbol having the potential to reach up to 7x7 in size. The one downside here? The max win is capped at 5,000x, so if you do hit the best symbol and max it out, you might feel a little short-changed.
