Egyptology has always fascinated many around the globe, especially ever since Howard Carter discovered the untouched tomb of Tutankhamun back in 1922. Following this the interest in the ancient Egyptians grew further, and inevitably in the modern era this spilled over into the world of online gambling games and a series of ” book themed slots ” were created. Arguably the most popular of these is the Book of Dead from Play’n Go, and whilst Slingo Originals have made their title very much a Slingo Game, the theme is heavily based on Egypt and the popular book themed niche of slots.
As this game does feature a free spin bonus, there is a paytable attached to it that I’ll now look at in more detail. The lower value symbols within the reel section of the game are the classic royal cards 10, J, Q, K, and A. The premium symbols on Book of Slingo are Horus, Sobek, Anubis, and the Eye of Horus, where a 5 of a kind win will pay 7.5x, 7.5x, 20x, and 50x respectively. A book symbol can also appear in the free spins that acts as both the wild symbol, and the scatter.

As with all games within the Slingo niche, Book of Slingo is played on a grid of 5×5 that is made up of random numbers. Once the starting bet has been chosen and the game begins, each spin will see numbers scroll into view along the lower reel. You are then hoping to see as many of your numbers crossed off within the grid as possible in your 11 spins. There are additional symbols that can appear on the lower reel which can both help, and in some cases attempt to halt your progress within the game. With the game now in full flow, you’ll soon see yourself nicely progressing up the prize ladder that is located to the left hand side of the grid. After your initial 11 spins have ended, if you have not completed a full house then the game will offer you the opportunity to buy another spin. You can either choose to accept this offer and see if you can fill more spaces on the grid, or you can end the game in your current position and then start a new one.

Book Of Slingo Free Spin Feature
There are two ways in which you can trigger the free spin feature on Book of Slingo. Firstly you can enter this bonus via the book symbols appearing on the lower escalating reel during your play. The amount of book symbols that appear on this will determine which of the symbols you may be awarded to play the bonus with, as indicated below.
- 3 Book Symbols – Any royal or premium symbol can be awarded
- 4 Book Symbols – Any premium symbol can be awarded
- 5 Book Symbols – The Eye of Horus symbol will be be awarded
The second way in which the free spins can be triggered is by completing 8, 9, or 10 lines, or a full house. At this point you can take the cash alternative or the free spins.
Once the free spin feature is under way, the name of the game is to land your selected symbol on as many of the reels as possible. If you can land it the minimum amount of times required, then those symbols will expand the full length of the reel and pay you a win multiple times.
If you have been awarded a lower value symbol then you will need at least 3 of them to land for the reels to expand. If however you are playing with a premium symbol, then you will only need 2 of them to land in view for a reel expansion and a win to be paid.
Finally it is possible for more free spins to be awarded in the bonus via a re-trigger. Landing 3, 4, or 5 book symbols in view will award an extra 10, 15, and 20 spins respectively.
Book Of Slingo Review Final Thoughts
I didn’t really know what to expect when loading Book of Slingo up, but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, with a high standard of graphics and gameplay on offer. Ultimately the game is all about the free spin bonus and if you can get lucky with a premium paying symbol, and maybe even a re-trigger or two.
The Slingo portfolio of games is continuing to grow, and it actually amazed me that there wasn’t already a title themed around the ” Book Series ” currently on the market. I’m glad there now is, and this is a Slingo title that you should definitely give a go.
