Game Overview
Can you think of a more cute-looking badass than the Panda bear? To say it has a deceptive appearance is an understatement. While Panda bears look cute and cuddly, they’re 100% more likely to tear you to pieces than cuddle you. With that in mind, imagine a Panda bear as a crime lord in a bustling city. Getting torn to shreds is probably the nicest way he’d ‘off’ you. In Push Gaming’s Boss Bear slot, the Panda is a mafia boss aided by his underbosses, the Monkey and Wolf, and they all look like they mean business. You only have to look at symbols such as katanas, ninja stars, and guns that frequent the reels on every spin to see that. The question is, do you have the cajones to face this mafia boss on this 6-reel, 5-row, and 50-payline slot with a 96.47% RTP and 25,000x the stake max win?
While the base game offers wild and reveal symbols to add excitement to proceedings, it is the Coin Feature you want to trigger as often as possible. You can create and collect substantial multiplier payouts via that feature. It also provides the potential for the biggest wins in the free spins feature, where progressive multipliers come into play, reaching up to 10x.

Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
While many other game providers tend to design their animal-themed slots in a much softer style, Push Gaming has taken a completely different route where gangster animals rule the streets and seem pretty well-versed in martial arts, too, crikey. For those who didn’t know, Boss Bear is actually the sequel to Push Gaming’s Big Bamboo slot, a game that portrays the Panda Bear in a completely different light. The original has a slightly lower RTP of 96.13% and similar bonus features but a more significant max win of 50,000x.
The symbols on Boss Bear are the opposite of what you’ll find on Big Bamboo. Weapons and underbosses have replaced more delicate looking symbols such as wild animals and cute Panda’s eating Bamboo. Two symbols share the top spot on Boss Bear, with the Wild Symbol and the Panda Bear paying up to 100x the stake. There is quite the drop-off to the next best symbol, the Moneky Underboss, worth up to 20x. The Wolf pays a maximum of 10x, the Gun returns 4x, and the most you can win from the Ninja Star is 2x. All the low value playing card suit symbols payout 0.8x the stake for a winning combination of five.
Boss Bear offers a decent betting range, with the minimum price to play starting at a mere €0.10, which is sure to put a smile on the face of the low rollers amongst you, whilst those with vastly deep pockets can break the bank and spin for as much as €100.00.
Base Game & Modifiers
Push Gaming’s Boss Bear is played on a 5×6 reel set with 50 fixed paylines in operation throughout. Aside from the Wild symbol and the Panda bear, which require two, you must land three matching symbols across a payline to form a winning combination. That matching sequence of symbols must begin on the first reel and move to the right across a payline.
Reveal Symbols
Stacked Reveal symbols can land on the reels during the base game and the free spins bonus. These transform into the same type of symbol, whether wild or regular paying symbols.
Golden Reveal Feature
When the Reveal Symbols land on at least three consecutive reels, regardless of their position, all the Reveal Symbols will turn into Golden Reveal Symbols. This will trigger the Coin Feature. Once triggered, the Golden Reveal symbols reveal themselves one by one and can each reward one of the following:
- Instant Prizes: These coins hold bet multipliers of 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, or 1,000x the stake.
- Multipliers: Coins can hold multiplier values of 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x. At the end of the feature, these symbols apply their multiplier values to all instant prize and collector symbols. The multipliers then disappear, and the position is spun again to reveal another symbol.
- Collector Symbols: When the Collector symbol lands, it collects all the values of the other Collector symbols and any instant prize symbols. The latter then spins again to reveal new symbols.
- Nudge Symbols: When this symbol appears, the Golden Reveal symbol expands to fill the entire reel on which it landed. Subsequently, the Nudge symbol is eliminated. The newly vacant reel positions transform into Coins with random values.
Trigging the free spins bonus from within the Coin Feature is possible if three or more bonus scatter symbols land. You receive seven free spins for three bonus symbols, eight free spins with two low-paying symbols converted to Reveal symbols for four bonus symbols, or nine free spins with four low-paying symbols converted to Reveal symbols for five.
Push Bet Feature
For an additional 50% on top of your current spin bet, you can spin the reels with an increased 50% chance to trigger the feature.
Boss Bear Slot Bonus Features
If three or four bonus scatter symbols triggered the free spins bonus, you’re offered the chance to gamble those free spins for a chance of winning a better free spins combination. If you lose, you lose the free spins you initially triggered.
Free Spins Feature
During the free spins bonus game, any bonus symbols that land are collected in the meter to the right of the reels. Each time you collect 4 bonus symbols, a low-paying symbol is converted to Reveal symbols for the remainder of the bonus. You also go to the next level and receive:
- Fourth 4 Bonus Symbols: 2 Additional Free Spins and a 10x Multiplier
- First 4 Bonus Symbols: 4 Additional Free Spins and a 2x Multiplier
- Second 4 Bonus Symbols: 3 Additional Free Spins and a 3x Multiplier
- Third 4 Bonus Symbols: 3 Additional Free Spins and a 5x Multiplier
Bonus Buy
You can purchase three bonus buy features if you prefer to skip the base game. The first is a full-reel Golden Reveal Coin Feature for 300x your current stake. The second is the free spins round triggered by 5 scatter symbols for 600x, and the third is a random free spins feature for 100x.
Pros
- The two bonus games offer big winning potential
- High-quality presentation, as you’d expect from Push Gaming
Cons
- Half the potential max win of Big Bamboo.
- Existing mechanics used.
Boss Bear Slot Review Final Thoughts
There’s no doubt that fans of Push Gaming’s Big Bamboo slot will again appreciate the iGaming software developer’s work on Boss Bear. The slot looks amazing, runs flawlessly across all mobile devices, and has some additional features not found in the original. It’s a close call as I love both slots, but I think Boss Bear just edges it in terms of entertainment, design, and features.
