I was a massive fan of boxing when I was younger – it all started with WWF tapes that my cousin would record for because my dad refused to pay for Sky or cable at that time. One day, the wrestling section of the tape ended abruptly, and I found myself watching some compilation of the best boxing of the 1980s. I don’t remember all of the fights that were shown, but the one that got me into the sport was undoubtedly Tyson vs Spinks – a first-round knockout that saw Mike unify the Heavyweight title by adding The Ring’s belt to the WBA, WBC, and IBF already in his possession. The sport went through a relatively dull phase during the 2010s, but boxing has been coming back in a big way recently, and I feel like now is the perfect time for Jili to release their Boxing King slot! With a massive 88 paylines alongside an industry-leading return-to-player percentage of 97%, the only vital statistic that lets this game down is the lacklustre jackpot of 2,000 times the total bet.
The first major feature of the Boxing King slot is its “combo multipliers”, which can show up as 2x, 3x, 5x, 6x, and 8x. These values are applied when multiple wins occur during a single spin, so any spins that result in six or more winning combinations will start to have the prizes multiplied by 8x. The reels also contain enormous stacks of wilds, which help you hit big wins when combined with the combo multipliers. There’s also a free spins feature that can be retriggered, and during my testing, I found that every bonus was extended by at least a couple of extra spins.

Boxing King Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
You won’t find too many fight-themed online slots – we’ve had Rocky, although the less said about that one, the better! There are also games such as Sumo Sumo by ELK Studios, although that machine is so overly complex that I believe it may even put off several players – it’s barely even a slot at this point. On the other hand, Boxing King looks great, has a decent (but not over the top) set of features, and in my limited experience just whilst testing the game, is capable of delivering some great wins too.
You may not expect this game to pay great either, from a quick glance at the paytable – there are two character symbols in red and blue, with payouts of 5x and 4x, respectively, for a full payline of five of a kind. This red/blue colour scheme continues right down the table – the red gloves are worth 3x, whilst the blue return 2.5x. Red shorts return 2x; blue shorts return 1.5x. As for the low pays, five Aces or Kings will pay you 1x the total bet, whilst a complete line of Queens or Kings will pay 0.5x each.
When playing in demo mode on the Boxing King slot, there are fifteen different stakes available. The minimum/maximum limits are €1.00 and €1,000, respectively, although it’s probably doubtful that some casinos will offer such a large maximum win considering that would represent a payout of a couple of million for a jackpot!
Boxing King Slot Base Game
The playfield used in Jili Games Boxing King slot features five reels of five symbols each, which probably explains why Jili has chosen to incorporate such a large number of paylines – 88 in total. All wins require at least three symbols to line up a win, and that’s easier than you may expect, thanks to the stacked wild symbols and a multitude of paylines.
Combo Multipliers
You’ll see combo multipliers start to appear on the screen as soon as you have scored one winning combination from the current spin. A second win will be boosted by a 2x multiplier, with subsequent wins receiving a 3x, 5x, 6x, and finally 8x multipliers for the sixth win onwards. The combo multiplier is reset after each round, even during free spins.
Boxing King Slot Bonus Features
Scatter symbols are present on all five reels during the main game, and a separate re-trigger symbol is available during free spins. The number of free spins awarded depends on the number of triggering symbols – three scatters will award 8 rounds, whilst four or five scatters increase this to 12 or 20 rounds, respectively.
Free Spins Feature
I initially thought that the free spins in Jili Games Boxing King slot played out just like the base game, but I soon noticed one very important difference – in this mode, the stacked wild symbols are present on reels two through five, rather than just reels three and four in the base game. This makes big wins much more likely as the combo multipliers are far more likely to reach higher levels.
You can also win up to five additional free spins by hitting free spin bell symbols – the number of these on the reels at the end of each round determines how many extra spins you will receive, up to a maximum of 5.
Pros
- Big wins seem to occur relatively frequently – even if I was lucky, it was still impressive!
- The free spins feature is particularly profitable, ensuring you’ll want to keep playing for the next bonus round.
Cons
- It’s a shame the jackpot is limited to just 2,000x, but in this case, I think the way the game works probably justifies a smaller jackpot.
- The documentation isn’t as clear as it could be, but again, this isn’t the type of slot where that matters too much.
Final Thoughts
I’m surprised by just how much fun I had testing this game – it’s not that the gameplay is particularly special or unique, but everything that is here just seems to work well, and you’ll always be feeling like your next big win is just around the corner. If you are new to Jili’s games, this makes for an excellent introduction to the developer.
