iGaming studio Gamebeat tells us several things with the title of their new game, Buffalo Dale Grandways. First of all, this is another Buffalo-themed game, but thankfully the graphical style is a little different to the multitude of similar slots that we have reviewed in the past. As for the ‘Grandways’ part of the name, I initially suspected it meant that this would be a Megaways style machine. That is not the case, and in fact, this is a straightforward 1,024 pay-way game that uses a backdrop of the Grand Canyon instead. However, we get some extra payways in the bonus round – up to 5,040 of them, resulting in a maximum win of 7,680x the bet placed. The RTP is slightly above average at 96.16%
Four of the game’s five reels feature stacked wild symbols, but there’s no need to be disappointed about the last one – stacked buffalo symbols appear there instead! Finally, the main bonus round is a re-triggerable free spin feature that ups the pay way count from the 1,024 found in the base game to between 3,360 and 5,040.

Buffalo Dale Grandways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Whilst the graphical style of Buffalo Dale Grandways differs from that of many previous Buffalo-themed games; there are certainly plenty of similarities as well. The symbols used in Pragmatic Play’s Buffalo King and Blueprint’s Buffalo Rising Megaways do feature many of the same animals, for example, and all three games share many of the same features too. This isn’t a bad thing, however, and all three games have the potential to award some seriously huge wins.
The buffalo and the wild share the top spot on the paytable of the game, both of which have a return of 7.5x the bet staked for a full payway of five of a kind. The bear will pay you 4.4x your bet for all five of his symbols, as will the bold eagle, whilst the wolf and leopard share lower returns of 3.75x the bet for a complete payway. All of these symbols can appear as both singles and stacks, which makes it much easier to win on a large number of payways simultaneously. At the lower end of the table, the Ace and King will each award 3.1x your bet for a five of a kind combination, followed by the Queen and Jack at 2.5x, and finally, the Ten at 2x.
The minimum bet available in Buffalo Dale Grandways is a little on the high side at €0.40; it’s not too much, but it may put off a few players with very small bankrolls. The game’s demo version allows you to bet as much as €20,000 per spin, but I feel confident that no online casino will permit such a bet considering that this would result in a top win of over €150 million! In real money mode, I suspect the maximum bet will be around €200 instead.

The base game of Buffalo Dale Grandways utilises a five reel, four row playfield spanned by 1,024 payways. The highest-paying Buffalo symbol has a prize attached for just two adjacent matching symbols starting from the left, whilst all other symbols require a minimum of three.
Wild symbols do not appear on the first reel, but the stacked buffalo do, and these share the same payout, so it isn’t as big of a disappointment as it otherwise might have been.

Bonus scatter symbols appear on reels one, three, and five, and you will need to hit all three simultaneously to trigger the free spin bonus round. Let’s take a look below at how this bonus round plays out once it has been activated.

The bonus round initially awards eight free spins, but you can also win additional sets of eight by hitting all three scatter symbols whilst the feature is active.

The base game of Buffalo Dale Grandways would have benefited from an extra feature or two, but the free spins feature manages to largely make up for this with its additional payways and increased jackpot prize. This probably isn’t the very best of the buffalo clones, but all things considered, it’s a pretty close call.
