Game Overview

Peruse the slots at a Vegas casino, down your local club, or when playing online, and there’s one guarantee: you’ll find a host of Buffalo-related slots. It’s a theme that has stuck for decades, mainly due to its prominence during the early rise of slot machines. Today, I bring you another to add to the list, and this time, it is BF Games that is taking us to American Wilderness in Buffalo Trail. This slot has 5 reels, 3 rows, 25 fixed paylines, a high variance, 96.16% RTP, and a 61,300x maximum win.

With common themes like the Buffalo, most of you will know what to expect regarding its graphics, design, and the symbols on the reels. There are desert rocky-like plains in the background and the usual animals on the reels – Buffalos, Eagles, Wolves, Mountain Lions, and Deer. As for the gameplay, the base game is empty in terms of features of note, but there are two bonus games. In my opinion, the Cash Mesh feature is the best, as it allows you to collect Coin Cash values and even jackpots worth up to 10,000x or more. The other is a standard no thrills free spins bonus.

By all means, join me as I put this BF Games release through its paces, but if you’d rather see what it has to offer for yourself, then check out the Buffalo Trail slot demo below.

Buffalo Trail slot theme, stakes, pays & symbols

If you doubt the number of Buffalo-themed slots available at online casinos, do me a favour and type ‘Buffalo’ into our search bar. You’ll quickly see plenty of evidence, and a few of them might even catch your eye. Big Buffalo Badlands from Skywind, for example, is a good option if you enjoy the scatter pay mechanic and cascading wins. Buffalo Blitz Megaways from Playtech is another solid slot, along with Almighty Buafflo Megaways from Blueprint Gaming.

The Scatter symbol, which plays its role in triggering the free spins bonus game, is the most lucrative symbol on Buffalo Trail’s reels, returning 100x the stake for five anywhere in view. As for the regular symbols, the Buffalo leads the way with a maximum return of 40x, while the Mountain Lion and Wolf are worth up to 20x, and the Eagle and Deer return up to 12x. The Ace and King kick off the lower pays, topping out at 6x, while the Queen, Jack, and Ten reward up to 4x.

Spinning the reels and getting into the action on Buffalo Trail can cost from a budget-friendly €0.10 a spin up to a maximum of €50.00. This is a fairly standard betting range that should ensure all real-money players find an entry point relatable to their bankroll.

Buffalo Trail slot base game

At the heart of the Buffalo Trail slot is a 25-fixed pay line mechanic across a 5-reel and 3-row configuration. Winning combinations are formed when two or more of the Buffalo, Lion, or Wolf symbols line up across a pay line or when three or more of the other symbols do. Winning combos must start from the leftmost reel and line up across adjacent reels to the right.

Buffalo Trail slot bonus features

There are two bonus games to aim for on the Buffalo Trail slot. One is a Hold & Win game, and the other is a basic free spins bonus. Let’s discover what each of these games has to offer in terms of value and entertainment below.

Cash Mesh Feature

You’ve probably noticed coin symbols landing with cash prizes as a multiplier of your stake during the base game. However, you cannot win those values until you trigger the Cash Mesh feature. Doing so requires 5 or more coins to land anywhere in view on the same spin.

You receive the same number of spins as the triggering coin symbols. Each time a spin reveals a coin or jackpot symbol, it is held on the reels until the end of the feature. The Mini (30x) and Minor (50x) jackpot symbols have a fixed value, while the Major and Grand start at 5,000x and 10,000x the stake, respectively, but progressively grow as you spin on the slot. At the end of the feature, you receive the cash and jackpot values collected on the reels.

If you fill all 15 reel positions with symbols by the time the bonus ends, a 2x multiplier is applied to all coin values (not jackpots) before you’re paid. If you do not fill all positions, the Extra Bonus feature triggers. You will receive 1, 2, or 3 additional spins.

Free Spins Bonus

The free spins bonus triggers when 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols land anywhere in view, returning 8, 16, or 24 free spins. You can re-trigger the bonus from within and trigger the Cash Mesh feature.

Pros

  • Two bonus games and four jackpots are the main selling points here.

Cons

  • An overused theme.

Buffalo Trail Slot Review Final Thoughts

Buffalo Trail has a few things going for it, such as two bonus games and four jackpots, two of which are progressive as you spin the reels. The 61,300x maximum win is juicy, too, but I’m not entirely sure how that’s achieved aside from growing the Grand Jackpot and winning it. Overall, it's a solid effort from BF Games that I believe many of you will enjoy.
