Sigh. I know you should never judge a book by its cover and all that ancient proverb advice type of stuff. Still, it’s quite challenging to look at a game such as Burn 7s Burn video slot from Inspired Gaming without feeling a very familiar emotion. At least, I would call it an emotion of kinds – you are about to read about yet ANOTHER online slot which uses fruits and lucky sevens to fill its reel strips. Yawn, eh? Actually, you should hold on for a moment or two – underneath the slightly lazy presentation, this is one of the best games I’ve found in the past few months, and if you read my reviews regularly, then you will understand just how much it takes for me to say something like that! As for the vitals, this is a 40 fixed payline machine with a slightly disappointing prize cap of 2,500x your bet plus an equally disheartening RTP of just 94.5% – way below the industry average of 96%.
The vitals may not impress, but things soon improve once you begin to look at the available feature set. I was seriously pleased when I found the pie gamble option in this game – it’s just not something you see every day, and I cannot see why that is whatsoever – it’s by far the most player-friendly gamble method. The inclusion of such a mechanic has been identified in many surveys as a feature that players like so much that they will even select games based on the inclusion of a pie gamble. Burn 7s Burn Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Okay, despite the fact I have thoroughly enjoyed my time testing this game as I wrote this review, I still cannot dismiss the fact there is a severe lack of originality in terms of the theme, reel set, and features. It looks like a million other online slots with a fruity theme. If themes were the only trigger for people to play an online slot, they would almost certainly never try this fantastic game – Inspired, this game is crying out for a clone with the same math model and feature set. Make it happen guys!
Over to the paytable, there are three different lucky seven symbols – a single seven, a double, and a triple. There is a small consolation prize for players who hit a pay line containing a mishmash of different lucky seven symbols, but when I say tiny, I mean tiny… it’s just your stake returned to you with no further winnings. A proper line of five-of-a-kind single sevens pays 6x your bet, but a full line of the double sevens boosts that up to a slightly improved 7.5x. As you would expect, the triple sevens have the largest return, paying 17.5x for a five-of-a-kind hit. After this, six fruit symbols pay between 5x and 2.5x your stake. I’m afraid there are no payouts on the wilds or scatters, I’m afraid – I wouldn’t say I like that this is becoming normal in the online gambling world.
Setting your wager can be done either by using the up/down arrows on the left of the main reel set, or you can click the large circular button between them to show a different page where all accepted bets will be listed together. The minimum stake allowed per spin is €0.20, whilst the maximum is €100.00.
Base Game & Modifiers
The main action in the Burn 7s Burn slot game occurs on a 5×4 playfield. This is slightly bigger than the average 5×3 layout used by most online slots, but the 40 fixed pay lines ensure you have plenty of chances to hit winning combinations. All wins require a minimum of three matching symbols on a pay line starting from the leftmost reel.
Mixed Symbol Pays
Any payline with three or more lucky seven symbols of any type will award a small win, even though the lucky sevens do not match. The payoff is a bit disappointing, however; just 1x your bet for a five-of-a-kind hit, a measly 0.25x for any four, and a somewhat pointless 0.1x for any three.
Pie Gamble
You can enable the pie gamble for large wins, all wins, or no wins using a control positioned in the top right corner of the screen. Once you reach the pie gamble screen, the larger your win, the better your odds will be.
There are two dials – one allows you to play for free spins, up to a maximum of 30, whilst the other is a cash gamble. If you reach 30 free spins on the right-hand pie, you can continue to gamble using the cash pie until you reach the maximum win of 2,500x your bet.
I love this type of gamble as it allows you to bank some of your winnings and only gamble with what you can afford to lose. Additionally, you can choose how much risk you are willing to entertain by selecting larger or smaller prizes before you spin the dial.
Last Chance Saloon
If your balance falls below the amount required for a final spin, the game will allow you to do a pie gamble for the chance to boost your balance up enough to play a final spin. It’s not much, but it will enable you to make an unbelievable comeback if you can get incredibly lucky. I like this feature and would like to see it included in a few other games too!
Burn 7s Burn Slot Free Spins Feature
The bonus scatter symbols only appear on reels one, three, and five. Hit all three of these, and you will win yourself a free spins bonus round, starting with 10 spins.
During the free spins feature, a special “upgraded mixed symbol pays” feature is added to the game. In this mode, any pay line containing a mixture of lucky seven symbols will upgrade into a full pay line containing only the highest lucky seven symbol included in your pay line. For example, a line containing four singles and one triple will convert into a line of five triples.
The free spins don’t seem to come around that often, but the payouts always seem relatively generous when they do. I had two 100x+ features and one 300x+ feature just as I was testing this game in free-play mode, and I was so impressed with this that I intend to give the game a go for real money this weekend!
