Something I found immediately hilarious about this particular incarnation of the formula is the fact that the scatter prizes are listed as a multiple of your stake – Red Tiger never usually bother to even make their regular paytable list the winnings in this useful, obvious, and easy-to-understand way, yet they chose to implement it for this secondary scatter paytable? The mind boggles. So, 20 fixed pay lines, a 95.72% RTP, and a 2,500x maximum win… that’s the vitals – how about the rest of the game?
The ”candy ladder” scatter prizes seem to make up the entirety of the feature set as far as this game is concerned, and whilst there are a couple of twists in the form of jumbo-sized super symbols, it doesn’t really feel like enough to sustain an entire game to me. I guess we’ll soon find out.

Cake And Ice Cream Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Sweet treats are incredibly popular as themes for online slots – perhaps the developers are trying to make us all fat by pushing us to yearn for some sugar-filled goodness? Or maybe they don’t realise that putting sweets and ice cream on a screen isn’t quite as tasty as having them on the table in front of you? Just take a look at Candyways Bonanza 2, Candy Burst, or Wild Donuts if you don’t believe me; developers are just obsessed with these games! However, Red Tiger’s effort here is one of the best looking of the bunch, so I’m going to let them off for using a theme that is almost as overused as fruits… actually, that’s a gross exaggeration. Compared to fruits, sweet-themed slots are one of the most original genres you could ever think of.
How about the paytable, then? I believe our top-paying symbol is a quadruple layer cheesecake, although it may just be a four-layer sponge cake… Red Tiger wasn’t kind enough to tell us. How are we meant to get our mouths watering with excitement if we don’t even know what cake it is? Ah, I digress. Quad-layer cheesecake will pay you 30x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, followed by a triple-layer iced Victoria sponge (That’s what it is because I said so) which is worth 24x for all five. That’s all the cake you’re allowed, I’m afraid, so you’ll need to hit five ice cream cones if you want to win yourself 18x or a five-of-a-kind combination of circular lollipops to win the 12x prize. A single sweetie completes the “high-paying” symbols with its return of 8x for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, after which we have four low paying symbols represented by the playing card suits with payouts of between 7x and 4x for all five.
Red Tiger’s usual minimum bet of €0.10 per spin is all present and correct, whilst the maximum bet is a little bit higher than I have become accustomed to from Red Tiger – €40.00 per round, meaning you could potentially win up to €100,000 if you hit all 15 scatter pay symbols at max bet.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game uses a typical 5×3 playfield, but the actual gameplay pans out a little differently from a regular online slot. This is mainly due to the scatter-pay prizes, which require a large number of “Cake & Ice Cream” scatter symbols on the reels to make those prizes achievable. Unfortunately, this also means that those scatters tend to block other regular pay line hits, which is a big problem in a game with such a small playfield. The issue is further exacerbated by the small size of the wins on the paytable, too – even when you do hit something, it often isn’t worth very much.

There are ten prizes on the candy ladder that require different numbers of “Cake & Ice Cream” scatters to be won. The exact prizes are as follows:

There aren’t any “real” bonus rounds in Cake & Ice Cream, so I was intrigued to spot the bonus buy option at the bottom of the screen – what could it possibly contain?
Cake & Ice Cream Feature
For 10x the regular bet, you can buy yourself a special spin which guarantees at least six of the special cake and ice cream scatter symbols. Hit the minimum of six, and you will win just 5x your bet, losing half of your investment. On the other hand, you could hit all 15 symbols and multiply your cost by a factor of 250x.
Super Cake & Ice Cream Feature
If you fancy investing a little bit more, 75x the current bet will allow you to purchase a special version of the above feature, guaranteeing you a single 3×3 super-sized symbol worth 50x the regular bet. This means that you are guaranteed to recoup two thirds of your investment in this feature, but once again, you can also fill the remainder of the screen with more bonus symbols and win the maximum jackpot of 2,500x.
Cake And Ice Cream Slot Review Final Thoughts
As far as scatter pay games go, this is a fairly decent attempt, but the regular line hits are very low and difficult to hit, and the lack of any real bonus round meant that I soon found myself becoming tired of the base gameplay. If you enjoy these types of games, this is the purest form of scatter pay slots you are likely to find. It wasn’t my type of machine, but perhaps it will be yours.
