Game Overview
Halloween is all about pumpkins, trick or treating, monsters, ghoulies, and apparently scantily clad buxom witches fighting over candy. That’s how SimplePlay seemingly views this time of year, as evidenced by Candy Witch, an anime-style Halloween-themed slot that’s good on the eye and has a couple of exciting bonus games. I’ll get into those features in more detail throughout this review, but let’s start with the basics. Candy Witch has a 5×3 reel format, 30 fixed paylines, a medium variance, and a 96.19% RTP.
I briefly mentioned the two bonus games above, and both are free spins games that require a bit of effort (and plenty of spins) to trigger. To trigger either, you’ll need to collect quite a few of their respective bonus scatter symbols across a session. The first requires 80 and the second 60. If you haven’t fallen asleep or been hypnotised by the left-sided witch by the time either trigger, you’re actually in for some good winning potential. The first bonus game features up to 240 stacked wilds on the reels, while the second will give you a 24x win multiplier by the time you reach the final spin. Aside from those bonuses, there are SimplePlay’s Mini, Minor, and Major progressive jackpots that could payout at any given time.
I’ve reviewed a few SimplePlay slots, and overall, they’ve been pretty decent. Candy Witch is another that’s worth a look. However, if you’re not sure you want to risk some real cash, spin on our free-to-play Candy Witch slot demo below before making up your mind.
Candy Witch slot theme, stakes, pays & symbols
We’re always treated to new season-related slots whenever Halloween comes around, but in all honesty, some are more trick than treat and often forgotten about within days. Some do make the grade and deliver replayability, with Betsoft’s Rags to Witches being one such slot that has stood the test of time. It has the same reel configuration as Candy Witch but offers fixed jackpots of up to 1,000x the stake, a free spins bonus with a multiplier that eventually reaches 30x, and a bonus buy feature.
Onto the paytable now, and three regular symbols share the top payouts on the Candy Witch slot, with the Two Witches and the Bag of Candy returning 10x the stake for five in a row. The Potion, Pumpkin, and Boy also share a reward of 7.5x, whilst the Ace, King, and Queen deliver payouts up to 5x and the Jack, Ten, and Nine return up to 3x. The Wild symbol is where you’ll find the best return, however, as you’ll land a 12x the stake reward if five of them land across a payline.
Let’s wrap up this part of the review with the staking selection, and you can place bets from a minimum of €0.30 per spin up to a max €300.00 when playing the Candy Witch slot. Whilst this betting range is pretty impressive, low rollers may be left a little disappointed that they can’t play at their preferred stakes of €0,10 and €0.20.
Candy Witch slot base game
The Candy Witch slot features a common 5×3 reel configuration and 30 fixed paylines. Lining up three or more matching symbols on one of those paylines from left to right will result in a payout as per the paytable.
Progressive Jackpots
At the top right of the reels, you’ll see the Mini, Minor, and Major progressive jackpots and their current amounts. These increase with every spin placed, and on any random spin, these can be awarded as a payout.
Candy Witch slot bonus features
Section There are two free spins bonus games you can trigger on the Candy Witch slot, but this can take some time. Above either side of the reels are two collection meters, increasing as the scatter symbol for each free spins bonus is collected from your spins.
- Free Spins Bonus 1: You’ll need 80 Red-Haired Witch scatter symbols to trigger 12 free spins of reels that will feature 240 stacked wild symbols by the time the last spin comes around. 4 additional stacked wilds are added to the reels on every spin.
- Free Spins Bonus 2: The second bonus game requires 60 of the Blonde-Haired Witch scatter symbols. Again, you receive 12 free spins, but this time, a global win multiplier increases by 2x on every spin. That means by the time the last spin occurs, you’ll have a 24x win multiplier in play.
Pros
- The two bonus games offer up good winning potential (once you manage to trigger them).
Cons
- The scatter collecting animation gets boring quite quickly.
Candy Witch Slot Review Final Thoughts
If you’re going to play Candy Witch, make sure you implement a bankroll strategy that will last at least 100 spins, or perhaps 200, to be safe. Collecting the required scatter symbols for the two bonus games can take quite a while. I’d also suggest turning Turbo play on, as each collected scatter results in the witches kicking the reels into each other - which is purely for aesthetic purposes but gets annoying after about 5 spins. If you do both of those things, there’s a good chance you could enjoy your time on Candy Witch.
