Centurions were called as such because they originally commanded a unit of 100 men, although this was later reduced to around 80 men by the time of the imperial era. That’s quite enough useless facts for one day, however – it’s time to talk about Inspired’s new Centurion Megaways online slot! The new game offers up to 117,649 payways, a 95.9% RTP, and a maximum jackpot of €250,000 or 12,500x the total bet – whichever comes first.
The base game includes plenty of modifiers to keep things exciting between bonus rounds, all of which are delivered by the centurion himself! Most of these modifiers will be familiar to fans of existing Megaways slots, but this is the first time I remember seeing so many of these features in one game. Hitting three or more scatter symbols during the base game will take you to the bonus wheel, which features no less than six(!) bonus rounds for you to explore. Centurion Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I genuinely haven’t the first idea about what the first Roman Empire-themed slot could have been. Whatever it was, it started a trend that has developed into one of the fastest-growing categories in all of online slots! Recent examples include Play’N’Go’s Legion Gold, Red Tiger’s excellent Athens Megaways, and 4 Corners of Rome. Centurion Megaways probably isn’t the best-looking game of the bunch, but it does at least have the advantage of being one of the most feature-packed. Of course, it doesn’t matter how many features your game has if the payouts are bad! On that note, this seems like a great time to check out the paytable.
The most valuable combinations available in Centurion Megaways include the game’s logo symbol and have a return of 50x the total bet for a full payway of six of a kind. There’s a significant drop before we get to the other high-paying symbols; the chariot will pay 7.5x the bet for all six symbols, whilst the colosseum and sword symbols are each worth 2x the bet for a complete payway. Two more medium pays are represented by a soldier’s helmet and an ancient coin, which share equal returns of 1.75x the total bet. Finally, four royal symbols make up the low-paying section of the paytable, with payouts ranging between 0.8x and 1x the total bet for a six of a kind combination.
The minimum/maximum permitted bets available in Centurion Megaways have been set at €0.20 and €20.00, respectively, and plenty of other options are available between the two extremes. So, regardless of your playing budget, you could be able to find a suitable stake to play at.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of Centurion Megaways is similar to that of almost any other Megaways game. There are six main reels, plus one more horizontal reel positioned above reels two through five, and together these can create anywhere from 324 to 117,649 unique payways during each game round. Most symbols require at least three matches starting from the leftmost reel to award a win, but the game logo symbol also has a small payout for just two matching symbols.
Reel Modifiers
Before any base game spin, the centurion can randomly appear and activate one of the following modifiers for the forthcoming round:
- Super Bonus Reels: Extra scatter symbols are added to all reels, increasing the odds of triggering a bonus round.
- Big Win: The current round is guaranteed to award a prize of at least 20x the total bet.
- Minimum Ways: The reels will be forced to land with the minimum number of payways displayed but the centurion.
- Maximum Ways: All six reels will be forced to divide into the maximum permitted number of rows, ensuring the current round will feature all 117,649 possible Megaways.
- Mystery Symbol: Mystery symbols will be added randomly to the reels. When the reels stop, all visible mystery symbols will transform into a single symbol chosen from the paytable.
Centurion Megaways Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatter symbols appear on all six main reels and the top horizontal reel. This theoretically allows the world’s luckiest slot player to hit seven scatter symbols simultaneously. Still, I suspect the odds of such a combination are several hundred million to one!
Hitting three or more scatter symbols will trigger the bonus wheel feature. When this occurs following a three-scatter trigger, the wheel will contain lots of segments for the game’s six different bonus rounds. The lower-value bonus rounds begin to disappear from the wheel as the number of triggering scatters increases, with a seven-scatter trigger guaranteeing the best possible Super Wild Power Spins feature.
Prizes On Parade & Super Prizes On Parade
These are the least valuable features and only appear on the bonus wheel following a three or four-scatter trigger. The Prizes on parade feature can award up to 43x the total bet, whilst the ‘Super’ variant increases this to a maximum of 65x. It’s also possible to win a set of free spins when playing these two features.
Caesar’s Free Spins & Super Free Spins
These are the main bonus rounds and will always appear on the bonus wheel unless you were lucky enough to hit a seven-scatter trigger. You can win up to 16 free spins with a starting multiplier of up to 5x and can also win additional free spins by hitting three or more scatter symbols whilst the feature is active.
The win multiplier will increase by 1x every time a winning combination lands on the reels, and there is no limit to how large the multiplier can grow throughout a single bonus round.
Wild Power Spins & Super Wild Power Spins
These are the most generous bonus rounds available in Centurion Megaways and feature sticky wild multiplier symbols. You don’t get a lot of spins, unfortunately – just three for the Wild Power Spins or four for the Super Wild Power Spins – but the sticky wild symbols are added automatically, so you should still be able to score a big win regardless!

There’s nothing particularly new or unique about this game, but it does boast a comprehensive feature set that includes many of the best aspects of a whole bunch of previous Megaways slots. One thing is for sure – if you want to see every feature this game has to offer, it’s going to take you some time!
