Champions Of Mithrune (Play'n Go) Slot Demo & Review

It seems as if Play’N’Go has been busy recently, with half a dozen releases pushed out to top-tier online casinos during the past two or three weeks. Champions of Mithrune seems as if it could be a premier release, as there has obviously been a great deal of effort put into its presentation. The game looks a little bit bigger than it really is for some reason, although the 5×5 playfield is still far larger than the majority of other online slots. As for the rest of the vital statistics, the game uses 20 fixed pay lines, has a maximum win of 7,500x your bet, and an RTP of 96.20%.

Everything else seems to be in place, however, so we still felt comfortable reviewing the Champions of Mithrune online slot. There are several “Champion Features” which are base game modifiers that can randomly trigger on any spin, as well as a free spins feature that boasts an introductory “Power Up” screen which allows you to collect three champion tokens, adding additional profit-boosting mods to your forthcoming bonus round.

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, this looks as if it could be a big release for Play’N’Go – if you are excited to check it out for yourself, our free demo slot of Champions of Mithrune is available to play right here:

Paytable For Champions Of Mithrune Slot

The term “Champions” has become common parlance in the video game world and is frequently used to describe the major selectable characters in online multiplayer games. The first and most obvious use of this term came with Overwatch, but it has since been used in dozens of titles, including the smash-hit League of Legends. Champions of Mithrune video slot instantly throws up the memory of games such as these, and the use of specific colours for each champion is reminiscent of many of those games. It seems fair to guess that Play’N’Go has taken some inspiration from the video game world for this slot, which is no bad thing; it certainly beats yet another fruit-themed game!

We’ll refer to the champions by their colour, which seems much easier than describing them based on appearance! Topping out the paytable, we have the wild and the red champion, both of which will grant you 12x your stake for a complete pay line of five-of-a-kind. Next, the yellow guy will pay 10x your bet for each five-of-a-kind combination you score of his symbol, along with the blue girl, who also pays 10x each line you hit of five of her symbols. The green character… sex unknown! Will pay 6x your bet for five-of-a-kind, and finally, the purple lady has a return of 5x for each line of her. These amounts seem a little bit low considering the other characteristics of this slot. Still, the large number of modifiers triggered in the base game means there is far more to the Champions of Mithrune slot game than the headline figures alone.

I’m not sure if the numbers shown in the demo version of this game will match the actual amounts you can bet in the real money game that accepts Euro; for example, the demo game allows you to bet just €0.05 per spin if you wish, with the maximum bet topping out at €100.00 per paid spin. The maximum seems realistic for Play’N’Go, but I’m not sure about the minimum; I think €0.20 per spin may be more likely.

Base Game & Modifiers

Play With 5 Reels, 20 Fixed Paylines, And Win Up To 7,500x Your Bet In The Champions Of Mithrune Online Slot From Game Provider Play'n Go

The main game in Champions of Mithrune online slot uses a 5×5 playfield, which is an unusual size for a slot that uses typical pay lines rather than pay ways of cluster pays payout mechanics. There are just 20 fixed pay lines spanning this enlarged grid size, with winnings awarded for hitting three or more matching symbols from left-to-right only.

One of the biggest attracts of this slot is the huge number of modifiers that can be randomly triggered on any paid spin – check them out!

Anastina The Sorcerer Modifier

Our hot sorcerer lady will add a cluster of matching symbols somewhere on the reels; sometimes, this will just be a small 2×2 block on the right-hand side that does not result in a win, but occasionally she will go crazy and add a full-screen 5×5 group of matching symbols to the screen, which should be enough to get you close to the games maximum jackpot of 7,500x your bet!

Olc The Goblin Modifier

So it turns out the green character is a goblin, and Olc, as he likes to be called, will transform some combination of reels two, three, and four into stacked wild symbols, so you will only need to worry about lining up matching symbols on the first and last reel. Nice!

Silvana The Range Modifier

The blue lady with the crossbow will randomly add between four and seven wild symbols anywhere on the screen, which sometimes works out exceptionally well. Still, in my experience, it does tend to be worse than Anastina and Olc the Goblin’s modifiers.

Gorm The Barbarian Modifier

I guess the champions must scale down from best to worst, as Gorm the Barbarian is a step down from each of the earlier modifiers, which also seemed to be a step down from the one before them. Gorm will transform all instances of a single royal symbol into wilds, which may be a treat if you happen to have a tonne of Aces on the screen, but otherwise, it tends to be a bit of a letdown.

San The Shapeshifter Modifier

And just when you think you are getting a handle on things, it turns out you might be wrong! Syn will transform all Champion symbols that have landed on the reels into the highest paying out of the bunch, which has to be better than the previous two modifiers. As a set, however, this is an excellent group of mods that do an awesome job of breaking up base gameplay in between bonus rounds.

Champions Of Mithrune Slot Free Spins Feature

Land A Scatter Symbol On Reels 1, 3, And 5 To Trigger The Free Spins Feature On Champions Of Mithrune Video Slot

Speaking of bonus rounds, Play’n’Go uses their familiar setup of only having scatters on reels one, three, and five in this game. Still, the number of scatter symbols featured on each reel is obviously tweaked to suit this setup, as the feature doesn’t seem to land less frequently than in any other game.

When you first enter the free spins feature, you will be presented with the Power Up screen – as the reels spin in this mode, champion symbols will appear, and for each group of three that you collect, you’ll add an extra feature for your forthcoming free spins. Multiple champions can be unlocked during the Power Up phase, and all unlocked champions will be applied to every spin during your feature – things can get crazy here, trust me!

The power up phase also contains potion symbols that can apply multipliers to your bonus round, ranging from x1 to x10. If scatter symbols happen to drop during this mode, you can also boost the number of free spins you will receive up to a maximum of 20 (twice the regular number).

The Power Up feature works like a three-spin feature in many other slots, granting you three spins at the beginning and finishing when you finally hit three dead spins in a row. Power Up pretty much determines how your free spins round is going to go – it will either be dull, or it will be unbelievably awesome because you collected tonnes of boosters during the Power Up phase. I wish you luck with this!

Champions Of Mithrune Slot Review Final Thoughts

Play’N’Go has been a reliable provider of epic online slots for some time now, and Champions of Mithrune is a worthy follow-up to what we have seen from this prestigious software house in the past. The vast number of mods during the base game keeps things exciting, whilst the Power Up based free spins offer tons of variety that will keep you coming back many times in the future. A possible contender for game of the month?
