Chase For Glory (Pragmatic Play) Slot Demo & Review

I was trying to think back to the last quad-reels slot game we had reviewed here on the site, and I’m pretty sure it was The Dog House Multihold slot, also a title developed by Pragmatic Play. They’re back again today, but this time with a gladiator style theme in their Chase For Glory slot. Although multiple reels come into play later, initially, we have a 5-reel game with 25 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96%, and a maximum win of 7,887x bet.

As far as the base game goes, the slot is pretty bland, with little hope of landing a significant win, as there are no modifiers or additional features to speak of. It would appear all of the game RTP has been reserved for the free spins feature, which triggers when at least three scatter symbols appear in view. Before the round begins, you are invited to pick your champion, each offering a different amount of spins and multiplying wild options. If your selected warrior collects the most coins during the battles, you’ll win the value of all four reel sets.

Okay, folks, it might not quite be Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, but it’s the best I can muster up for now. Fancy giving it a try? Then why not activate our free Chase For Glory slot demo? It’s ready for you to play below.

In case you were wondering if there was an actual online slot based on the hit film Gladiator, I can tell you there is. The game, titled Gladiator slot, was developed by Playtech and features a huge progressive jackpot. I did really enjoy playing that slot game at one point, but that was back in the day before the likes of Megaways and high volatility slots hit the scene. Nowadays, it’s not the sort of game I’d really even entertain. So, maybe Pragamtic’s Chase For Glory slot can be my new go-to slot in this niche. I think I’ll find out a bit more about it first though, starting with what it can pay.

The paytable is a little puzzling and not the easiest to work out at first glance, so I’ll break it down so it’s easier to understand. At the top, we have the Treasure Chest, worth 16.6x bet for a winning combination of five. Next is the Body Armour valued at 10x, followed by the Helmet at 6.6x, a Sword at 3.3x, and finally, a Trident worth 2.66x for a completed line of five. Pragmatic has used the industry standard royals for the low pays, with the Ace paying 2.5x, a King at 1.66x, the Queen at 1x, and the Jack and Ten awarding 0.66x and 0.33x, respectively, for a five of a kind win. The Lion and Swords symbol represents the Wild substituting for all regular symbols but will only appear on reels 2 and 4.

I’m not quite sure why, but I always find it frustrating when an online slot doesn’t have a stake of €1, which is the case with Chase For Glory. Instead, it is bypassed, with the minimum bet starting at €0.30 and increasing initially in 30-cent increments, with the eventual maximum price per play reaching €240 a spin.

Chase For Glory Slot Base Game

We have a very basic game set up of five reels and three rows on Pragamtic’s Chase For Glory slot with a total of 25 fixed paylines in play. A win will be recorded if three matching symbols land on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost reel first whilst also needing to hit on one of the active ways to win.

If 3, 4 or 5 of the scatter symbols land in view, the main bonus round will be activated, and players will be awarded 25 free spins. Before the round begins, you’ll need to pick one of the four champions, each activating at different stages of the bonus and each offering their own multiplier awards, as detailed below.

  • Green Faction Champion: Active for the full 25 spins. Wild symbols can appear on reels 2 & 4 with multipliers of 2x.
  • Red Faction Champion: Unlocks for the last 20 spins. Wild symbols can appear on reels 2 & 4 with multipliers of 2x and 3x.
  • Blue Faction Champion: Unlocks for the last 15 spins. Wild symbols can appear on reels 2 & 4 with multipliers of 3x and 5x.
  • Purple Faction Champion: Unlocks for the last 10 spins. Wild symbols can appear on reels 2 & 4 with multipliers of 5x.

Free Spins Feature

During the free spins round, a Coin Symbol can hit randomly. Coins that hit are collected next to the champion of the grid they land on. It’s possible that Reset Symbols may also land. Whenever they do, it resets the current amount of coins collected to zero for the champion with the highest amount, other than the one selected at the beginning. If two or more are tied when this happens, one of them is chosen randomly.

At the end of the round, if the champion selected at the beginning has the biggest amount of coins collected or is tied for the biggest amount, all wins from all grids are added together and paid.

Bonus Buy

The free spins can be instantly triggered via the bonus buy feature, costing 100x the current bet.

Pros

  • Not an overpopulated niche of slots.
  • A higher maximum win than several other Pragmatic slots.

Cons

  • No base game modifiers or features.
  • Watching large portions of the bonus is pointless if your selected champion doesn't win.

Chase For Glory Slot Review Final Thoughts

I initially had high hopes for Chase For Glory, but it soon became apparent that this would be nothing more than a filler slot game from Pragmatic. There might be some players who enjoy what it has to offer, but I get the feeling they will be few and far between.
