I don’t remember coming across the name Oros Gaming before now, yet something about their new Chilli Inferno online slot seems strangely familiar. For a start, the game includes “Link & Win” in its title – this is a common subtitle that many developers have recently tacked onto their slot titles, a phenomenon which I cannot help but find slightly strange. There are several other “coincidences”, too, but let’s start with the basics; this is a 25-line machine with a 96.20% RTP, and I calculated the game’s maximum win at 6,785x the bet based on the numbers given by the developer.
Chilli Inferno claims to be a “Medium Volatility” online slot, which is probably correct by today’s standards. It’s incredible to think about how far we have come, now that a game paying almost 7,000x your bet is considered only “somewhat” volatile! In terms of features, there is a Link & Win feature, which is a three-spin bonus round that awards cash prizes and fixed jackpots displayed to the left of the reels during the base game. There is also a free spins bonus round, a bonus bet option, and a mystery symbol modifier, which sounds like more of a handful than it really is.
No matter what your preferences are when it comes to spice, there is no reason to fear this slot… although if you wager too high for your bankroll, it is possible you could get burnt. That is, unless you play our free demo slot of Chilli Inferno, at least, which comes with no risk whatsoever!

Chilli Inferno Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
What is it with online slot developers and chillies, eh? We all know of Big Time Gaming’s influential machine Extra Chilli, which was one of the foundations for all the Megaways online slots that we know and love today. Even before the release of Extra Chili, however, this special plant had been a popular theme for online slots, and that tradition has only strengthened because of BTG’s success. The most recent example I can recall would be Blueprint Gaming’s Chilli Picante Megaways, a game that I remember best for being extremely buggy when I first began testing it! Thankfully, Blueprint ironed out all its flaws before it went on general release, and it turned out to be a great game. So how does Oros Gaming’s new entry in the genre compare to such high-profile competition? To find out, we’ll start by investigating the game’s paytable.
At the top of the paytable, you will find payouts for the game’s scatter symbols; this is a pleasant surprise, as it feels as if cash payouts for bonus-triggering symbols are going extinct in recent times. Chilli Inferno will pay you 2x your bet for three scatters, increasing to 15x and 100x for four or five scatters, respectively. Next, we have the wild, which has a small premium attached to it above the payouts for the regular symbols. The game will award you 10x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, compared with 6x your bet for all five of the axe-wielding chillies. Yes, I did say “axe-wielding chillies”… perhaps I was wrong when I said that this game comes with no risk whatsoever! The pink ghost chilli (Ghost Chilli! Geddit? Hahaha! Ah, Oros, you jokers!) will also pay you 6x the current stake for a full pay line of those, followed by the umm… pink carrot chilli(?) and his friend the green chilli which are both worth 4x for all five. Five royal symbols complete the table, with returns of between 1x and 2x for complete pay lines of five-of-a-kind.
Chilli Inferno includes a “Win Booster” option – effectively a bonus bet – which will double your chances of triggering the link and win feature in return for a small premium on top of the regular spin cost. Without the win booster enabled, the minimum and maximum wagers are €0.25 and €25.00 per round, respectively, increasing to €0.35 and €35.00 if you choose to play with the feature enabled.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game is straightforward – five reels of three rows each, with 25 paylines spanning the playfield. This is the most common slot machine configuration out there and will feel instantly familiar to every player – even newcomers will have no problems getting to grips with the arrangement and mechanics on offer here. Unsurprisingly then, you’ll need to hit three or more matching symbols on a pay line starting from the left to bag yourself some winnings, too.
I consider the “Link & Win” and free spins features to be bonus rounds, so I have included them in the next section. We do have a couple of small items left to discuss here though.
Mystery Symbol Modifier
The mystery symbol concept has become a frequent sight in many modern slot machines and almost always works in the same way. Any spin can include a random number of symbols concealed when they first land on the reel set, after which all symbols will transform to reveal a single matching symbol.
I guess the idea of these features is to increase the suspense of individual spins, but I find the whole thing a little bit pointless, personally. Sure, it can be a pleasant surprise if the mystery symbols transform into a high-paying symbol, but there is no guarantee that you will win anything.
Win Booster
As we mentioned in the wager selection paragraph above, Chilli Inferno includes a win booster option which allows you to bet 40% more than the regular spin cost in return for a 100% increase in your odds of winning the link & win feature.
This might sound like a good deal at first, but keep in mind that it is only the odds of that one specific event which are increased – the payouts on the paytable do not change, and your chances of hitting the free spins bonus are not increased either.
If you really enjoy the link and win mode, this may be a good deal for you; I do feel it is the better of the two bonus rounds in this game, so I would probably choose to play with the option enabled at smaller bet sizes where the extra 40% does not represent a huge increase in my overall cost per spin.
Chilli Inferno Slot Bonus Features
Two main bonus rounds are included in the Chilli Inferno video slot – first, hitting three or more scatter symbols will award seven, 10, or 20 free spins depending on the number of triggering scatters. Next, we have the Link & Win feature; this one is triggered by hitting at least six orb symbols during either the base game or the free spins. Let’s find out more about these below.
Free Spins
The free spins feature awards seven free spins for hitting three scatters, boosting to 10 or 20 spins if you hit four or five scatters, respectively. The free spins feature can also be retriggered, but it doesn’t offer any real benefit over the base game apart from the fact you don’t have to pay for the spins.
Okay, sorry, that is quite a significant benefit, but most games will at least add a 2x multiplier or something extra, not the bargain for you… not so here, unfortunately. Because of this, I found the link and win feature to be the more profitable and enjoyable bonus round out of the two offered here.
Link & Win
Hitting six or more orb symbols during either the base game or the free spins will take you to a separate reel set containing only cash prizes and jackpot symbols. The cash prizes start at 1x your current stake, with no apparent upper limit specified anywhere on the paytable.
The jackpot prizes have a fixed and predictable value; the MINI jackpot is always worth 20x your bet, the MINOR will pay 50x, the MAJOR, 500x, and finally, the MEGA jackpot is worth 2,000x your stake. You can win each of these jackpots multiple times in a single link and win bonus round.
Additionally, if you manage to fill the entire screen with 15 bonus symbols during a single link and win feature, the game will automatically award you the MEGA jackpot.
Chilli Inferno Slot Review Final Thoughts
The graphics and mechanics of Chilli Inferno are relatively straightforward by modern standards, and yet I quite enjoyed playing it. My returns weren’t enormous when I tested the game – as the title screen correctly indicates, this isn’t a hugely volatile online slot. Despite this, there are many chances to get lucky and win yourself a few thousand times your bet – not a bad deal, in my opinion!
