You might be thinking that the mechanics in Big Time Gaming’s Christmas Catch look very familiar, and you’d be correct in your assumption as this is indeed a clone of their previous title, the Golden Catch Megaways slot. That was indeed a stellar release from BTG, which led them to create a sequel of sorts in Over the Moon Megaways, although that lacked any real bite, to be honest, and certainly wasn’t as good as the original use of the mechanic. How will the Christmas edition fair then? We’ll begin at the pays section and see what prizes are up for grabs.
We have four Christmas stockings coloured Purple, Red, Blue and Green as the top paying symbols in the game, with each of these paying 50x, 2x, 0.8x, and 0,6x for a six of a kind win, respectively. The lower pays are represented by six royal symbols, with the Ace and King awarding 0.5x, the Queen and Jack sharing pays of 0.4x for a completed line of six, and finally, we have the Ten and Nine, both with equal returns of 0.4x bet for a winning combination of six. Big Time Gaming’s Christmas Catch slot is a Megaways game played on a 6×7 reel matrix. Due to the Megaways mechanic changing the number of symbols that can appear on a reel with every spin, it’s possible that the slot can generate between 64 and 117,649 ways to win with each bet placed. Players will need three or more matching symbols (two for the purple stocking) to land on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost reel first for a win to be awarded.
Every time a winning combo is formed, the symbols from that win explode and are removed from the reels. This activates the cascading reels aspect of the game, which drops new symbols from above to fill the gaps left behind. The cascades will end when you fail to create a new win.
Gifts Bonus
Whenever winning symbols are removed, one or more Gift Bonus Prizes will be shown. These prizes will be collected by each sleigh above the reels, regardless of its position.
Sleighs
