Cleocatra Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Cleopatra has been the subject of dozens of online slots; IGT even has an entire franchise dedicated to the Egyptian goddess, which are extremely popular, especially the original Cleopatra slot, which is still one of the most played games in land-based casinos. The switch to “Cleocatra” is quite amusing in my eyes – you can definitely still see the Egyptian theme shining through, but all of the high-paying symbols have been transformed into cat-based versions of the pharaohs that generally feature in Cleopatra-themed online slots.
The eponymous Cleocatra takes pride of place at the top of the paytable, returning 20x your bet for a full line of five of a kind. She is followed by one of her cohorts who returns 12.5x for all five on a line; then we have an actual cat returning 7.5x and a female-looking cat who pays out 5x your stake. Oh dear, it’s the patriarchy yet again! Moving on to the lower-paying royals, we have the ace and king, both of which will pay 1.5x if all five land on a payline, and these are followed by the Q, J, and 10, all paying you 1x bet for a five of a kind hit. These payouts are not huge, but a large number of paylines, together with the stacked symbols and wilds that sometimes include multipliers of up to 3x, all combine to create a game that can occasionally pay out some serious winnings.
As for the stake setup, Pragmatic Play continues to use an unnecessarily complex setup that includes controls for your “Bet”, which can range between one and ten, and a “Coin Value”, which can be set anywhere between a penny and fifty cents. Underneath these controls, you will spot a “Total Bet” section which updates as you change the bet and coin value controls. The problem is that you can simply change your total bet using the buttons to the left and right of this section, making the bet and coin value controls somewhat redundant. The minimum and maximum bets from this setup are €0.20 to €100.00 per spin. Why not keep it as simple as that, Pragmatic?
Cleocatra Slot Base Game & Modifiers
The base game on Pragmatic’s Cleopatra slot is played on a slightly enlarged 5×4 playfield, giving plenty of space for the game’s 40 fixed paylines. However, I felt the game could use a few more paylines when I was testing slot; I regularly ended up with combinations on the screen which I felt should result in a win, yet I did not receive anything.
Respin Feature
During the base game, a full vertical stack of cat symbols landing on the first reel will activate the re-spin feature. When this happens, all wilds and cat symbols of the same type will become sticky for the duration of the re-spins.
Whenever another matching cat lands on the screen, it will also become sticky and remain in place until the end of the respin feature. The process will continue until you manage to land at least one winning combination, which includes the stacked cat symbols on the first reel.
Essentially, you want lots of cats to drop on reels three through five before anything lands on the second reel and joins up a winning combination. So you might end up with just a single payline of winning symbols, or you could end up with something close to a full screen.
I love the fact that you never know what is going to happen with this bonus round. I honestly believe that this is one of the best base game modifiers I have seen in a long time. Great work, Pragmatic Play!
Cleocatra Slot Bonus Features
Hitting three, four, or five scatter symbols during the base game will award you eight, twelve, or sixteen free spins, respectively. I managed to hit four scatters a couple of times during testing, though predictably, I never hit all five – such events are almost always extremely rare, so I was not surprised by this.
Free Spins
During your free spins, all wild symbols landing on reels two through five will become sticky and remain in place for the duration of the bonus round. I’m not sure why they excluded the first reel from this – the most likely explanation would be that the vertical stacks of cat symbols can still land on the first reel during the free spins feature. The game will add two free spins to your remaining counter when this happens.
Finally, the best part of this bonus round is that the wild symbols, which become sticky, still feature the 2x or 3x multipliers they do during the base game. So if you get extremely lucky and land a tonne of 3x multiplier wilds on the screen, you can be sure of hitting some massive wins from every remaining spin.
The only issue, of course, is that the game cuts short your bonus round if you manage to make it to over 5,000x your current stake. I never managed this during testing, but with the number of wild multipliers I saw popping up during this feature, hitting 5,000x your stake could be easily achieved.

If you want to skip the base game and head straight for the feature, the game does include a bonus buy option which costs 100x your current stake.

Pragmatic Play has done it again, and their Cleocatra slot game isn’t complex by any means and is a title that anybody can spin, enjoy, and hit some nice winnings from. It's also a nice break from the never-ending supply of "Book of" slots that we find in the Egyptian slots niche, so if you want to mix up your play in that genre a little, this is a good alternative.
