Game Overview
The table game sections of online casinos can often be overlooked due to the flashing lights and tempting jackpots on offer from the slots, but it appears that Hacksaw Gaming are out to rectify that through their Dare2Win series, where they’ve taken the essence of several classic card, dice, and board games, given them a refresh, and chucked them back out there for us to enjoy. The latest in this series is titled Colors, which features an average RTP of 96% and a specific potential maximum win of 207.36x.
Once the game loads, you’ll be presented with a simple interface comprising a stake value and cube number selection panel on the left of the screen, with a display of several cubes and colour options on the right. After a brief skim over the info tab, I managed to ascertain that the aim of the game is to predict which side this six-sided cube will land on. Each side has a different colour, so there are six options to choose from, and you can select between 1 and 5 colours to be active during any single throw, which will adjust the odds of winning and the payout value accordingly. In simple terms, if the colour/s you have bet on land face up when the cube is rolled, you will win; if not, it’s a losing round. It’s pretty simple so far, then. However, things get a bit trickier when you increase the number of cubes in play, as it’s possible to select from 1 to 3. If you do choose to raise the number above 1, then all of those cubes must match the colour/s you have chosen for you to win.
If you’re in need of a break from the slots, are a lover of table games, or even just have a lucky colour, you can see how many times you can land it without risking your own cash, as we have the Colors demo slot available below, and it’s entirely free to play!
Colors Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
As I’ve alluded to, Hacksaw Gaming’s Dare2Win series brings a fresh take to some classic table games, and many of these titles offer surprisingly high top-end pay values and very strong RTPs, so they’re definitely worth checking out. One of my favourites is Lines, which features an RTP of 96% and a potential maximum win of 5,000x. It’s another simple yet entertaining game, where you’ll need to choose between 1 and 3 bars active and can adjust the win zone in which to land the arrow on each bar. The smaller the win zones, the higher the prize! Another great title is Twenty-One, a blackjack inspired game with a twist that has an RTP of 96% and a potential maximum win of 1,500x. It requires the player to select a number of active cards from between 1 and 7 before the type of each card is displayed and their values summed up, with any total score between 16 and 21 awarding a payout. Okay, now I’ve given you a little background, let’s check in on the features of Colors, starting with the pay values.
The number of cubes and colours selected on Colors will hugely vary the potential payout values, and players can choose between 1-3 cubes and 1-5 colours. The lowest volatility option is to pick 1 cube and have 5 colours active, which means that there is only 1 colour that the cube can land on, which will result in a loss. Clearly, this is reflected in the payout value, as that setup will only return 1.15x the total bet. The other side to the coin is having all 3 dice selected and only 1 colour active, which will require all 3 dice to land on the selected colour for a win to be achieved, but if this does happen, then the top win of 207.36x will be awarded. The full payout values for each selection are as follows:
- 1 Cube – 5 Colours: 1.15x, 4 Colours: 1.44x, 3 Colours: 1.92x, 2 Colours: 2.88x, 1 Colour: 5.76x.
- 2 Cubes – 5 Colours: 1.38x, 4 Colours: 2.16x, 3 Colours: 3.84x, 2 Colours: 8.64x, 1 Colour: 34.56x.
- 3 Cubes – 5 Colours: 1.65x, 4 Colours: 3.24x, 3 Colours: 7.68x, 2 Colours: 25.92x, 1 Colour: 207.36x.
When playing games like this, some people will employ tactics that can include raising and lowering stakes in conjunction with adjusting the risk level, so it’s good to see that Hacksaw has provided a lot of choices here to enable players to do that effectively. The stakes start from a low of €0.10 and rise to a high of €100.00, with many different options in between. This means that all players will be able to find a sweet spot to suit their play strategy.
Colors Gameplay
Starting a game on Colors is simple, but once you get the hang of it, there is a surprising level of depth to its gameplay, thanks to the multiple stake and colour options available. To make the appropriate selection, players can choose how many cubes they’d like to be active from the lefthand menu, with between 1 and 3 on offer, and then select the stake value from the box underneath.
Then, it’s over to the right side of the screen to select how many colours you’d like to be active on that game round. Once that’s done, it’s as easy as pressing the bet button and hoping those cubes land with your selected colour/s facing upwards; if they do, you’ll be paid the appropriate win value; if not, it’s a losing game round.
Colors Bonus Features
Unfortunately, no bonus rounds or features can be triggered in Colors.
Pros
- It's a simple game that has a surprising level of depth to it.
- The choice of how many cubes and colours are active allows the player to change volatility.
- Lots of variety in stake options
Cons
- Maximum win is very low compared to other games in the Dare2Win series.
Colors Review Final Thoughts
I’ve never come across a game quite like this, so it was refreshing to test it out. It’s essentially a simple dice game, where you’ll bet on which side lands upwards. Initially, I thought it was slightly dry, but once you begin to explore some strategy through tweaking the number of active cubes and colours and focus on increasing your balance, it actually has quite a lot of depth to it from a tactical perspective; this will probably be most appreciated through real money play. The one major negative from me is the low maximum win of just over 207x; I feel that could and should have been higher, perhaps with the introduction of a fourth cube. Overall, it is a very enjoyable game, but I’d be more likely to play some of the other options in the Dare2Win series for my table game fix due to their higher win potential.
