Crabbin For Cash Extra Big Splash (Blueprint) Slot Demo & Review

I feel like I need to find a joke or two regarding Crab Fishing for this review, but fishing games have become so prolific in recent times that I’m just all out of material. Yup, you’ve finally worn me down, slot developers. I guess you could call Blueprint’s Crabbin for Cash Extra Big Splash slot something of a milestone in a strange way. Let’s hope that the game itself offers up at least a handful of surprises because there certainly isn’t any in the statistic: ten fixed pay lines, a 94.50% RTP that falls far short of the industry average, and the traditional Blueprint trick of stating a 50,000x jackpot despite such a figure being all-but impossible in the real world.

There are two ways to look at that last part; are they unfairly overstating the game’s maximum payout? Or is it actually a good thing that there is no practical limit on how much you can win? Whatever your view on that conundrum, there’s another frustrating aspect to Crabbin’ for Cash: Extra Big Splash – it’s yet another game with cash symbols that are almost useless during the base game. We’ll get into the detail of that later because there are a couple of positive aspects worth mentioning, too: the “Pick a Crustacean” bonus can significantly upgrade the free spin bonus round, the standard paytable prizes are higher than average, and there is a golden fisherman that can boost the value of all cash symbols by 10x. There are also two different bonus modes available for purchase, provided bonus buy facilities are permitted within your region.

I know there must still be a significant audience for games of this type, so if that includes yourself, then I’m sure you’ll be interested in our free Crabbin for Cash Extra Big Splash slot demo. It’s available to play below.

It’s really quite amazing just how many games you can already play with a similar theme to this one – we’ve been assembling a new fishing slot category slot in recent days, and even we were shocked by the sheer number of fishing games that we have now accumulated in our review library! What’s even more surprising is that Crab Fishing is becoming a large category in its own right – Crabbin’ Crazy 2, Slingo Deadliest Catch, and the original Crabbin’ Crazy are some of the most popular titles, but they are far from the only ones out there. Blueprint were the first developer to hit mass adoption with a fishing slot, as far as I’m aware, with Fishin’ Frenzy, so I guess you can’t blame them for continuing to flog this particular horse. Everybody else is, after all!

The fisherman sits at the top of the paytable, along with a giant anchor, both sharing equal returns of 200x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. A crab in a cage offers a maximum payout of 100x for all five symbols, followed by 50x for a complete line of life preservers or beach hats. Any five of those super-annoying yellow box crab symbols will net you 20x your current stake if they happen to line up on a payline, whilst the low-pays are divided into two groups – 10x the total bet for the Aces/Kings, or 5x for the Queens, Jacks, or Tens.

The betting range on Crabbin For Cash Extra Big Splash is more than adequate, with minimum/maximum permitted stakes of €0.10 and €100.00 per spin, respectively. There are plenty of other bets between those limits too, which is always nice to see nowadays.

Crabbin For Cash Extra Big Splash Slot Base Game

The typical gameplay of this version of Crabbin for Cash Extra Big Splash remains similar to that of the original Fishin’ Frenzy online slot. There are five reels of three rows each, and the game uses a ten-pay line design. This design has been copied many times by other developers for their own fishing-themed slots, along with its biggest flaw: the yellow crab symbols. These symbols all display cash values, but you can only collect those values during the bonus feature – with that in mind, why show the cash prizes in the base game? I doubt that I am alone in finding this extremely frustrating.

Crabbin For Cash Extra Big Splash Slot Bonus Features

Crabbin For Cash Extra Big Splash Free Spins Feature

The base game doesn’t have a great deal going on, but it does at least pay well. However, the bonus feature in Crabbin for Cash Extra Big Splash is even better in this regard and is where all of the game’s special features have been stacked together. You’ll need to land at least three scatters to win 10 free spins, increasing to either 15 or 20 spins for four or five scatter symbols, respectively.

Free Spins Feature

Before the bonus begins, you’ll be presented with a “Pick a Crustacean” feature which lets you choose from a selection of crabs to upgrade your forthcoming feature. Those upgrades include removing lower-value crab symbols, boosting the number of golden fishermen, additional free spins, and extra wild symbols.

The regular fisherman symbol is active in this part of the game, finally making those yellow block symbols useful by collecting their values whenever he shows up. The golden version of this symbol is even more valuable, as it also adds a 10x multiplier to all of the crab symbol values. Every four fisherman symbols that land (regular or golden) will award a re-trigger and remove the lowest value crab symbols from the reel strips. If you can make it to the last stage of the bonus, all of the crabs are guaranteed to be highly valued, but you’ll still need to land a fisherman symbol at the same time to collect those cash prizes.

Bonus Buy

There are two options on the bonus buy menu – for 100x the total bet, you can purchase a regular bonus where the number of triggering symbols is determined randomly. If you are willing to pay twice as much, 200x will get you an “Extra Big Splash” feature where five upgrades are guaranteed during the round.

Pros

  • The Pick-Me feature and symbol upgrades make nice additions to the bonus round.
  • It’s almost certainly possible to win a massive jackpot from this game – exactly how much remains a mystery, but I’ll bet it’s a little lower than the 50,000x mentioned on the paytable.

Cons

  • Below average RTP of just 94.50%
  • Haven’t we seen enough fishing-themed slots by now?
  • The crab cash symbols are useless during the base game!

Crabbin For Cash Extra Big Splash Slot Review Final Thoughts

There’s not much more to say on this one – if you enjoy fishing-themed slots, this one is a nice upgrade over Blueprint’s previous efforts. It’s mostly just more of the same, but I’d certainly rather play this than the original Fishin’ Frenzy – the feature set is far more interesting, and it pays better too.
