Curse Of The Mummies Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
So we’ve seen endless numbers of Ancient Egypt based slots in the past – Book of Dead, Book of Ra, Cleopatra I & Cleo II are four of the most obvious ones that always spring to my mind when I think about this theme as they are the ones that I have spent the most time playing, but there are hundreds of other great games with a similar look and feel. This time around, it is a little different however – just the title of Curse of the Mummies online slot tells you that this is going to be a darker experience than games like Cleopatra. Whilst the graphics don’t necessarily do the best job of conveying this, the sound certainly does! It’s dark, atmospheric, and really adds to the feel of playing this game. I often think that online slot machines could do with vastly better sound, and full credit to Blue Guru for getting this part right!

There’s a very wide spread of betting ranges, starting at €0.25 per spin at the bottom end – an acceptable figure for a 243-way slot machine. There are plenty of small steps towards the bottom of the range, but they become very big towards the top end and maximum bet of €100.00.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game in Curse of the Mummies video slot takes place on a typical 5×3 playfield, which makes sense as this is a 243-way slot machine. In this type of game, wins are awarded for hitting any matching symbols on adjacent reels. You’ll need to match a symbol on at least the first three reels to be awarded a win, with the biggest wins being awarded for hitting matching symbols on all five reels. You can also hit up to three sets of five matching symbols if the reels happen to fall in just the right way, although this is a rare occurrence.
Rise From The Crypt Modifier
This is only a small one, unfortunately, it’s a modifier that can activate at the end of any spin and transform a single symbol into either a wild or a scatter. Clearly, changing just one symbol is likely to have very limited benefits, and as this is the only base game feature, I really do think that Blue Guru could have done better here.

So, the base game doesn’t have much to it – how about the bonus rounds? Thankfully, things do improve a little bit here, but you’re going to have to get your head around how things work if you’re the kind of player who likes to understand what is happening on the screen!
Regular scatter symbols and super scatter symbols appear on all five reels; however, the regular scatters are stacked whereas the super scatters are not. You need to hit a total of five scatters – whether regular or super – to trigger the free spin bonus round. Here’s how it works:
The makeup of the scatter symbols which trigger the bonus round determines your starting multiplier. Each regular scatter adds a multiplier of 1x, 2x, 3x, or 5x, whilst each triggering super scatter will add 10x. All of these will be added together to form your free spins multiplier, which can be further increased by hitting extra scatter symbols during your 15 free games.
Hit a scatter (of either type) on all five reels simultaneously during the bonus round and you will have an additional five free spins added to your counter. I managed to hit some pretty decent multipliers during testing, with my maximum win being over 600x from just a dozen or so bonus rounds, so this is definitely an interesting title!

If permitted in your jurisdiction it is possible to purchase your way straight to the feature, which is a godsend in a game like this where you are essentially spending your entire session just waiting for the free spins. There are four options, each representing different combinations of regular scatters and super scatters.

I have mixed feelings about the Curse of the Mummies online slot. I really wish that Blue Guru had added a few more base game features or mods to break things up, as I don’t live in a jurisdiction where I can take advantage of the bonus buy feature and I can see it being a long time between bonus rounds organically. It may not be the most innovative slot released this month, but it’s definitely worth a look.
