The name “Cyclops Smash” sounds kind-of badass to me – I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it’s a title that makes me imagine some kind of giant monsters battling it out or maybe a one-eyed cyborg letting humanity know just how little it thinks of us… before you check out the screenshots of Pragmatic Play’s Cyclops Smash online slot, take a second to picture it in your mind first. Ready? Okay, here we go… it’s a fruit slot! Perhaps that’s not all that surprising – you may already be familiar with a little VR game known as Fruit Ninja, and it seems that Pragmatic Play wants to borrow a little of that game’s success with this online slot. Cyclops Smash utilises the hugely popular tumbling symbols payout mechanic, but Pragmatic Play has paired it with a new “smash feature” that can activate randomly after all of the natural tumbles have finished playing out during the current round. We also get a free spins feature that awards extra spins if the triggering combination includes more than the minimum of four scatter symbols; the maximum number of free spins that can be won is 16, which requires all seven possible scatters. If you choose to buy a set of free spins for 100x the current stake, the number of triggering symbols will be determined randomly – most of the time, you’ll only get four, exactly as you would if playing normally, but I did see five appear twice during my testing of the game which suggests such triggers are not particularly rare.

Cyclops Smash Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I didn’t expect to find any matches in our review library for the word ‘cyclops’, but surprisingly there are two! The first is a game titled Book of 99, which includes a Cyclops on its paytable but is really only noteworthy because of its amazing 99% RTP. The second game is Apollo God of the Sun, which once again only includes a cyclops as a symbol on its paytable, as far as I can tell. That makes Pragmatic Play’s Cyclops Smash the first online slot I have come across which features a Cyclops as its protagonist – I still can’t help but feel that this guy has enough anger in him to do something better than smash fruit, but hey, I guess he’s just a pacifist!
The Roman Helm is the highest-paying symbol in this game; I can understand why the Cyclops would be smashing that – what use is a helm with a nosepiece where your eye is meant to go? The helm is made of solid gold by the looks of it too, warranting its impressive payout of 1,000x the total bet for a maximum cluster of 15 or more symbols. There’s a blue gem at 400x, a leg of lamb at 200x, after which we get to the lower paying fruits – the blackberry and green apple share a return of 40x the total bet for 15+ symbols, whilst the orange and lemon pay half as much at 20x each.
The bet spread available in Cyclops Smash is even more comprehensive than usual for a Pragmatic Play slot, with minimum/maximum permitted wagers of €0.20 and €240.00 per spin, respectively. There are more than enough options between those limits too, so you won’t have trouble finding a suitable wager level.
Base Game & Modifiers
The standard gameplay of Cyclops Smash is exactly as you would expect from any other grid slot. The machine uses a 7×7 playfield, symbols can appear in stacks as well as solo, and winning combinations are paid immediately after they land before exploding and creating a tumbling sequence. Tumbling continues as long as new winning combinations form out of the new symbols being dropped into place.
Smash Feature
When all tumbles have been concluded at the end of a game round, there is a chance that the Smash Feature will activate randomly. When this occurs, several symbols will be chosen to be re-arranged on the reels – either 5, 8, 12 or the entire grid. The symbols will be arranged in a set order defined by their paytable values, with the highest value symbols being positioned at the bottom of each stack.
Cyclops Smash Slot Bonus Features
Because of the enlarged playfield used in this game, you’ll need four scatter symbols rather than the more usual three to trigger a bonus round. A four-scatter trigger will award 10 free spins, with two extra spins added for any additional scatters up to a maximum of 16.
Free Spins Feature
Every time the smash feature activates during this bonus round and a winning combination forms on the reels after it, the global multiplier will increase by 1x, and the new multiplier is applied to any subsequent winning combinations.
Hitting four or more scatter symbols will re-trigger the bonus round with up to another 16 free spins, allowing you to build your multiplier even further.
Bonus Buy
The free spins mode is a lot more fun than the base game, so if you’d prefer to go straight there, you may do so at a cost of 100x the normal price per spin. The number of triggering scatter symbols is determined randomly.

Final Thoughts
This is a fairly typical grid slot, but luckily for me, I really quite enjoy these games! If you’re the same, be sure to give Cyclops Smash a look – it’s not particularly unique or innovative, but it’s definitely fun!
