Whether you’ve taken to these new styles of slot games or not, you have to admit they are interesting and offer a fresh take on what we would traditionally class as an online slot. As I touched on in the introduction, Elk Studios saw great results from Pirots, leading them to release the Pirots 2 slot, but they’re not the only developer to have tried some out-of-the-box ideas in iGaming. Print Studios have also been quietly going about their business, first with the creation of their Reapers slot and later with Shinobi Spirit, both very interesting games if you’re yet to try them. Anyway, let’s not take the limelight off Elk, as it’s time to learn more about how much their Dam Beavers slot can pay.
As we’ve already covered, there are no active paylines in the game, and wins are awarded by the Four Beavers, coloured Red, Orange, Green, and Blue, collecting their respective fruits on the playfield. These fruits come with 8 different levels of payouts, with the Strawberries paying between 0.1x – 50x for each symbol collected, the Oranges valued at 0,05x to 10x, the Melons next at 0.05x to 7.5x, and finally, the Plums awarding 0.05x to 5x bet.
Elk consistently sticks with the same selection of stake sizes on offer in each of their releases. These begin at a minimum of €0.20, reaching a maximum of €100. Dam Beavers Slot Base Game
Elk Studios Dam Beavers will likely be one of the more interesting grid slots you have encountered whilst playing online, and the initial gameplay takes place on a 5×5 grid. The beavers will award you a win by collecting their respective fruits when they are adjacent to them anywhere within the playfield.
Feature Meter
Above the reels is a feature meter showing three cards, which keeps track of all collected symbols. One card is shown face-up, and an additional card is then revealed each time the meter is filled. When it is no longer possible to make any more progress on the playfield, all face-up cards will be released. There are three possible features that can be awarded, which are as follows:
- Wild Scatter: A random number of symbols on the grid are replaced by wilds.
- Refresh Symbols: Replaced all current symbols on the grid.
- Symbol Swap: Two random symbol types swap places.
Feature Symbols
A feature symbol is activated when it is fully revealed and is collected by one of the beavers. There are a total of 8 feature symbols in the game. Five appear on the symbol grid, and three features are hidden beneath the floorboards. The features are as follows:
- Firework: upgrades the symbol level of the beaver that collected it.
- TNT: This will cause a series of explosions, which will remove floorboards.
- Blender: Boosts the feature meter, filling it completely.
- Wild: Substitutes for any fruit symbol at their respective payout level.
- Coins: The coins are large symbols underneath the floorboards and are collected when fully revealed. Additional coins may overlap, but the top coin must be collected before the underlying coins are accessible.
- Passages: These are hidden tunnels under the floorboard that allow a beaver to move under the grid and appear on another random collectable symbol position elsewhere. Beavers may also swap positions with each other.
- Breaking Points: These 2×2 progression points are hidden under the floorboards. When revealed, they will unlock progression to the next floor level. Every floor has a breaking level, except floor 4.
* All paying symbols are upgraded one payout level when a breaking point is activated. A potential Beaver Night Fever feature is completed, and the paying symbols are reset to their respective payout levels that they had before the Beaver Night Fever feature.

I have to be honest and say that I'm not a massive fan of the original Pirots slot, but when Pirots 2 came along, I got into the gameplay and thought it was a fantastic slot.So, I was pleased to see that Elk has made a new series with these interesting game mechanics, and perhaps now we can expect a sequel to this slot, too, or maybe they will take a new direction and try some other fun themes, as it sure does seem that Elk has a winning formula on their hands at the moment with this style of game.
