Game Overview
The wait is finally over, folks! Danger! High Voltage II has arrived, and after all the delays (it was originally meant to be released in November 2023), we can finally dive into the follow-up to one of the most iconic slots Big Time Gaming has ever released. Seven years after the original hit the market, we’re back, ready to see if the sequel can live up to the hype and high-voltage excitement of its predecessor. Danger! High Voltage II is a 6-reel slot offering up to 117,649 ways to win, a 96.77% RTP, and an electrifying 52,980x the stake maximum win.
It’s fair to say that BTG has completely ripped up the blueprint of the original, aside from the epic tune and the graphical styling of Danger! High Voltage II. The sequel offers more ways to win and a maximum win over three times bigger than the original. That’s the good part out of the way. As for the other changes, gone are the Wild Fire and Wild Electricity Wilds, and more importantly, the two free spins bonus games, which featured a wild multiplier reel holding 11x, 22x, 33x, 44x, 55x, or 66x, or sticky wilds, respectively. What we have now is two other bonus games, both focused around a Megadozer that pushes bonus symbols onto the reels. They don’t sound nearly as exciting as the original, but let’s see.
I know I won’t have to convince most of you, as this is a highly anticipated sequel slot, but for everyone else, please try out the Danger! High Voltage II slot demo below. It’s free after all!
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
For those who love music-themed slots who’ve yet to play it (you’ve missed out), the original Danger! High Voltage slot was themed around Electric Six’s banger of a track by the same name. Triggering the bonus games was met with relief for two reasons, firstly, the potential windfall coming your way, and secondly, you get to nod your head to that tune once again. Well, that song returns for the sequel, and again, you’ll have to wait until the bonus games trigger (or you opt to buy them) to hear it.
Many of the original symbols make a return from the original, too, although they’ve all received a facelift along with the rest of the graphics. The Día de Muertos skull tops the pay charts once again, with it now returning 2.5x the stake for a 6-symbol combination. The Bell has a top reward of 0.75x, and the Disco Ball and the Taco both share a 0.6x the stake top return. The Ace and King are next with 0.5x rewarded for six in a row of either, while the Queen and Jack are worth up to 0.4x, and the Ten and Nine can deliver wins of up to 0.3x.
For the budget-conscious among you, don’t worry; spins start at €0.20. However, high rollers will not be as pleased, as the top stake supported is just €20.00 per spin. Don’t get me wrong that is still huge, but if you’ve got serious money to burn, this might not be enough to scratch your gambling itch.
Base Game & Modifiers
Danger High Voltage 2 is a six-reel slot that uses BTG’s most successful innovation, Megaways, to reveal up to 117,649 ways to win on any given spin. Like its predecessor, you’ll need matching symbols to land on adjacent reels on DHV2 starting from the leftmost side to trigger a win.
Megadozer
Above the reels is one of those coin-pushing machines that you can play at fairs, malls, and amusement arcades. You know, the ones where you drop coins into a slot, hoping they land in a perfect position for the dozer to push them into other coins, which can cause a ton of money to fall into the tray beneath and into your pocket.
BTG calls this the Megadozer, which was first featured in Bonanza Falls, and on any spin, it can drop bonus coins onto the reels. During the base game, those bonus symbols can be:
- Win Multipliers: All base game spins start with a global win multiplier of 1x, and each of these coins will increase that value by 1x.
- Scatter Symbols: Three or more of these are required to trigger the free spins bonus games.
- Wild Symbols: These substitute for all regular symbols when winning combinations are possible. They can also hold a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, or 5x, which applies to the payouts of any combos the wilds help create.
Danger High Voltage 2 Slot Bonus Features
As mentioned, you’ll need three or more scatters to trigger the slot’s main bonus games. When those symbols land, you can choose from the following:
Free Spin Features
- Fire in the Disco Free Spins: With this bonus, players start off with 6 free spins. When a Bonus Coin drops from the Coin Dozer, it reveals either a wild that remains on the reels for the next two wins, or an extra free spin. Land 2 or more scatter symbols, and you’ll grab an additional 2 free spins, plus 2 more for every scatter beyond the second. Keep in mind that those scatters only show up on the first and last reels.
- Danger Danger!! Free Spins: This gives you 12 free spins, and this time, each time the Coin Dozer drops a Bonus Coin, it either adds a wild with a multiplier matching the Feature Wild Multiplier or boosts that multiplier by +1. The Feature Wild Multiplier starts at x2, giving you a nice head start. Keep an eye on reels 3 and 4, as only Bonus Coins there will transform into wilds. Land 3 or more scatters, and you’ll scoop up 2 extra free spins, with an extra 2 spins for every scatter after the third.
Bonus Buy
You can choose to use the buy bonus feature on Danger! High Voltage II if you want quicker access into those bonus games. It costs 100x the current spin bet and gives you the choice of which free spins bonus you want to play.
Pros
- Huge 52,980x maximum win potential.
- Nostalgic theme and soundtrack for fans of the original.
Cons
- Lacks the original's multiplier-heavy wild features.
- Is that maximum win really achievable?
Danger High Voltage 2 Slot Review Final Thoughts
It’s hard to match the excitement and nostalgia that comes with a sequel to a legendary slot, but Danger! High Voltage II tries its best. BTG has ramped up the potential with some noticeable upgrades, with DHV2 featuring 117,649 ways to win and a massive 52,980x the stake maximum jackpot. However, it’s clear many of the original’s features will prove a big miss for some, including me. The introduction of the Megadozer and its free spin variations bring some fresh mechanics, but they don’t quite match the wild, multiplier-filled mayhem of the original. Overall, I’m disappointed, as I’m sure many others will be.
