Game Overview
It’s common in Ancient Greek mythology for gods to be given domain over several things at once, but Dionysus is perhaps the most prolific of all. The texts state that he was the god of the grape harvest, winemaking, orchards, fruit, vegetation, fertility, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity, and theatre… could you be any greedier there, old pal?! Thunderkick’s title Dionysus Golden Feast is a ten-line machine with a 96.42% RTP and a top win of 7,500x the bet placed, and it’s also the first online slot that I can remember to feature this particular Greek god.
The ‘golden feast’ part of the title is probably a reference to the golden scatter symbol, which will transform into a random sticky symbol every time it lands. When this occurs, a free re-spin is triggered where all other matching symbols will become locked in place. This process will repeat indefinitely as long as further matching symbols land on each re-spin, potentially allowing you to build up a full screen of matching symbols. During the free spin bonus round, at least one golden scatter symbol will automatically be placed on the reel set before each spin. If you prefer to skip directly to the free spins part of the game, a bonus buy facility is offered at the cost of 85x the normal price per spin.
Is it just me, or has Thunderkick been surprisingly quiet of late? If you’re curious to find out what the developer has been working on recently, then why not check out our free demo slot of Dionysus Golden Feast below?
Dionysus Golden Feast Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
It’s actually a little surprising that there are still a few Greek gods that haven’t had a slot named after them by now! A quick search of the Demoslot review library turns up dozens of existing releases, including Book of Helios, Apollo God of the Sun, and Prometheus Titan of Fire, to name but a few. You may be surprised just how many things are named after characters from Greek Mythology – Goodyear tyres? The planets? The Olympic Games? Maserati? Pandora’s Box? Those are a few of the more well-known ones but search google, and you’ll find hundreds more obscure brands and references related to the subject. On that note, something tells me that I’ll be surprised a few more times in the future by yet another Greek god that I’d completely forgotten about!
I’m guessing that the rather cheerful-looking character at the top of the paytable is Dionysus himself! He’ll pay you 75x your stake whenever all five of his symbols appear on a payline. That’s three times more than the next most valuable symbol, a golden trumpet filled with fruit which returns 25x for five of a kind. The final two high-paying symbols are a harp which pays 20x, and a bowl of fruit, with a payout of 15x for a complete payline. The royals award between 5x the bet for the nines up to a maximum of 7.5x for the Aces, but it’s a little disappointing that there are six low-paying symbols and only four high-paying ones.
Like most Thunderkick slots, Dionysus Golden Feast offers an extensive betting range with minimum/maximum wagers of €0.10 and €100.00, respectively. This should provide players with all-sized budgets the opportunity to try the game for real money if they would like to do so.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of this machine takes place on a standard 5×3 playfield, spanned by 15 fixed paylines. All of the winning combinations require at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left. A wild symbol of a golden jug appears on all five reels but does not have a premium payout and returns the same amount as the highest-paying regular symbol.
Sticky Respin Feature
Scatter symbols appear as both gold and silver variants. Each time a golden scatter lands on the reels, it will transform into a random symbol from the paytable before becoming locked in place.
Next, all other symbols matching the transformed scatter will also lock in place for the remainder of the current game round. The game will then award a free re-spin, and any further matching symbols which land on the re-spin will also become sticky and locked in place.
If there is more than one active sticky symbol on a single game round, the higher value symbol will always take priority. The remaining symbols will all be upgraded to match the prioritised symbol.
The sticky re-spin feature will continue until no more matching symbols land or all positions on the reels are locked.
Wild Multiplier
Any payline that includes one or more wild symbols will have a multiplier applied to the total win as follows:
- 1 Wild: 2x Multiplier
- 2 Wilds: 4x Multiplier
- 3 Wilds: 8x Multiplier
- 4 Wilds: 16x Multiplier
- 5 Wilds: 32x Multiplier
Dionysus Golden Feast Slot Bonus Features
A bonus meter is displayed underneath the main reel set and will activate the free spin bonus game if it is filled. The number of free spins awarded is determined by the colour of the collected scatters; silver scatters award four spins, whilst golden scatters award eight.
Free Spins
In this mode, a single golden scatter symbol will be randomly placed on the playfield at the beginning of every free spin. This will guarantee that the sticky re-spin feature is activated on every single round. See the sticky re-spin section above for full details. The bonus round can be re-triggered by filling the bonus meter again during a free spin game round.
Bonus Buy
If you are becoming tired of the base game, you may skip it and go directly to the free spins feature at the cost of 85x the normal price per spin.
Dionysus Golden Feast Slot Review Final Thoughts
Thunderkick has produced several of my all-time favourite online slots, but this one didn’t grab me. The free spins feature doesn’t offer much of anything over and above what is available in the base game, and I already feel as if I’ve seen everything the machine has to offer in the short time I have been writing this review.
