Dynamite Miner Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The theme of Dynamite Miner is quite a light-hearted take on the whole mining concept – an old guy sits in the bottom-left of the screen, and he kind of freaks me out, actually – he’s always looking directly at you but never blinks. You’d also be surprised how many online slots are based around mining in one way or another – Cash Mine is very similar to this game, as is Pragmatic Play’s Bonanza Gold, whilst Black River Gold and Dynamite Riches Megaways feel a little bit more serious in tone. It’s quite curious, considering that many mines worldwide are shutting down as Western nations are doing everything possible to reduce their carbon footprint, such as shutting down their coal mines and power plants. Other nations, such as China, talk a lot about lowering emissions yet still build dozens of new coal plants yearly. This is extremely worrying considering that they are already by far the biggest polluter on the planet, but then again, they do have 1.4 billion people (supposedly) needing electricity, and their country is stuffed to the brim with coal. You can’t blame them for using it up before they are forced to switch to more expensive means of generating power.
Okay, that’s quite enough politics for one day; let’s get back to Dynamite Miner! The highest-paying symbol is a cart overflowing with gold nuggets… I feel a little cheated only receiving 125x my stake when that probably wouldn’t even cover the cost of the cart, but alas, that is what you will get for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind. Next, the miners’ hat will pay you 50x for all five, followed the by the lantern at 25x, and the pickaxe and shovel at 10x. The lower paying symbols are represented by various coloured minerals, which suits the game well and is much more interesting than just another set of boring royals or playing card suits. The wilds only appear on reels two, three, and four, so there is no chance of hitting a full pay line of those, I’m afraid. There is no payout attached to the scatter symbols either, unfortunately.
Wagering options use the familiar Endorphina setup of selecting a coin value to determine the size of your bet, but there is no option to change the number of pay lines in Dynamite Miner – many other Endorphina games retain this fast-disappearing option, but not this one. The minimum bet at penny stakes is €0.20 per round, whilst the maximum at a coin value of €1.00 is €20.00 per spin.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game utilises a regular 5×3 playfield, with winnings awarded for hitting three or more matching symbols on a pay line starting from the first reel on the left. As a rolling reels game, all winning combinations are removed from the reel set as soon as they land, allowing new symbols to drop in from the top of the screen and replace them. There’s an extra twist to this feature in Dynamite Miner, however, detailed below.
Cascading Multipliers Feature
Each time a winning combination explodes and new symbols drop into the gaps that have been created; the current win multiplier is increased. If the new symbols which appear create a new win, the process will repeat with a newly increased multiplier. The multipliers available in the base game are 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x.
If you do not score a win after any cascade, but a wild happens to land on the screen, the game will throw you a bone and give you another cascade anyway.
Dynamite Miner Slot Bonus Features
Hit three scatters during the base game, and you will be rewarded with ten free spins. Hitting four scatters will increase this to 20 free spins. Scatters only appear on the first four reels, so it is impossible to hit five scatters in this game. There is no cash payout for hitting the scatter symbols either – you only receive the free spins bonus round.
During this mode, all wins have a 3x multiplier applied to them by default. Each time a winning cascade is removed from the reels, the current multiplier will increase similarly to the base game, except now the available multipliers are 5x, 7x, 9x, or 15x.
During the bonus round, the scatter symbols only appear on the first free reels. Hitting all three of these will add ten more free spins to your remaining total.
Gamble Feature
After any win, you can try to double your current win by hitting the gamble button. You will then be shown five playing cards; the first card is shown face up, whilst the remaining four are face down.
The objective is to pick a card with a higher face value than the card already shown face up. Therefore a higher face-up card means your odds of being successful are reduced. If the face-up card is a 2, for example, your chances of success are 162%. If it is an Ace, your chances drop to just 42%.
Dynamite Miner Slot Review Final Thoughts
Dynamite Miner is a fairly basic online slot, but I enjoyed my time playing it whilst writing this review. Games do not need to be overly complex to be fun, and games like this hark back to the early days of online slots when all we needed was a free spins bonus and some decent base game wins to be happy.
